Peyton Charlotte Wright​

ETYMOLOGY

Peyton [pey-ton] means "noble; patrician". Charlotte as a girls' name is pronounced SHAR-let. It is of Old German origin, and the meaning of Charlotte is "free man". Wright was an occupational name for a maker of machinery, mostly in wood, of any of a wide range of kinds, from Old English wyrhta, wryhta 'craftsman'​

WHY

Peyton was a name both her mother and her father had always been very fond of. Charlotte was the name of her father's grandmother, she had been taking care of him ever since his own mother died when he was just twelve years old and had always been very dear to him. She died two years before Peyton was born and they decided to make it her middle name in her great-grandmothers honour.​

NICKNAMES

Peyton is often called Pey. Although she has also had friends who called her by her last name, Wright.​

Peyton's family originated in Ireland and even though she was born in New Zealand she still has plenty of relatives in Ireland.​

Peyton has a soft and pleasant voice which she is very fond of and has helped her a lot in her dream of becoming a musician. She enjoys mixing the sound of her voice with different instruments and this is what has gotten her into music in the first place. ​

She's easy-going and has no problem chatting with complete strangers, which has helped her during the time she tried to make a small name for herself as a musician. She is however slightly naive. Peyton loves to see the good in people, even if it isn't there. She'd have a hard time seeing their true intentions and it has led her to get hurt a few times, but she still holds to it. She is a strong believer of doing what you love and at least trying to make that work. She adores music and it is one of the things she lives for. ​

HOUSE

Peyton was sorted into Ravenclaw, something which surprised her at first because she didn't see herself as being a smart kid and felt like she was at a disadvantage in comparison to kids who were born into magical families.​

THOUGHTS

She loved her time at Hogwarts and it was better than she could have imagined. ​

Peyton Wright had absolutely no idea of what to imagine when she had gotten her acceptance letter from Hogwarts. She had tried to do some research about the school to get some sort of idea of how it looked and what it would be like, but the written descriptions she had read were nothing compared to the sight she came to behold when she finally arrived at the school. It had been breathtaking from the outside, but the feeling she got once she made her way into the school together with the other first years was even better. This was really going to be her home for seven years? As they got closer to the great hall she started to get more and more nervous. Peyton still wasn't exactly sure what the deal was with the four houses and what every house meant exactly, but she was hoping for the best.

After the giant doors in front of the group of students was opened and they revealed the incredibly huge hall that had been hidden behind them her nervousness seemed to fade a bit as it had to make some place for her feeling of exctement that was now starting to take over and her mind started to fill itself with questions she could not yet answer. What house would she be sorted in? And why? What would classes be like? What kind of people would she meet? As they reached the front of the hall Peyton focussed back on what was ahead of her and waited patiently whilst the other kids got sorted. She had known from the start that she was going to be one of the last to be called, having her last name start with a "W" it had always been that way. Being almost the last person that was left she nervously stepped forward when her name was called out. "Wright, Peyton." Sitting herself down on the stool she could feel many, many pairs of eyes looking at her when the old, wrinkled hat was placed onto her head and she took a deep breath, awaiting it's decision.

RELATIONSHIP: Peyton has always looked up to her dad and respected him a lot. She loved hanging out with him and he has always been her biggest supporter and her greatest fan. His dead was extremely hard on her and she shut herself off for quite a while after that, before she realized he wouldn't want her to do so and turned back to her music.
