Perking up Mr Prickles

It didn't escape her notice that Mervyn looked as though he was about to cry, but if anyone was going to it should have been her. She was the one who had her sister shouting at her and a so called friend who'd tried to escape. Reaching into her trousers she pulled out the vial, thrusting it towards the professor. "Well take it then." She didn't know what they..she was going to do now to save his life but it would be because of Olive if he didn't make it. Leda's eyes bored into her sisters, willing her to just get it over with so she didn't have to look at either of them. They were so disappointing.

As she listened to her sisters brief explanation, Olive wondered whether she were telling the truth or spinning one her stories again. It wasn't as though she'd seen a hedgehog outside on the grounds, but she didn't want to give Leda the satisfaction of telling her all about it. Once she'd calmed down enough to speak clearly, Olive just wanted them gone so she could fix the mess she'd made. "That's enough." she said simply, releasing her spell from the door. "Take it. Do what you need to do. But if I find out that the creature is still in your possession in twenty four hours there will be trouble." She wanted to give her sister the chance to do the right thing, and besides she didn't need the hassle of someone finding it in the castle. It was better that they dealt with it now and let it go back into the wild where it belonged. Closing her eyes and pinching the bridge of her nose with one hand, eager for them to leave before she could regret her choice, she shooed them out with her free hand.

As the embarrassment wore off, Mervyn felt his anger returning. He had no idea why Leda was so angry with him when it was her fault they'd gotten into this mess in the first place. Sure, he'd blabbed about the hedgehog, but Olive was bound to turn around sooner or later, and then they'd have had to explain anyway, lest it look as if they were stealing ingredients for their own personal gain. The moment the door clicked unlocked, Mervyn yanked it open and bolted down the dungeon corridor, not sure where he was headed, and not caring. He just needed to be alone - before he said something he regretted.

Leda stood there for what felt like years until her sister finally told them to leave. Before she'd realised that they were being dismissed, Mervyn had already bolted out the door quicker than the jar had earlier hit the floor. With a brief glance back to Olive, the Slytherin too exited the classroom before she could change her mind, wondering what Mervyn could have been so angry about. It didn't matter, she had other friends. She would just have to update Zennon, and he would have to be her partner for things like this now that Merv couldn't be trusted. She crossly began to walk back to her common room, hoping to find the second year there already, when she realised she'd come away with the one thing they'd gone in for. At least it hadn't all been for nothing, and she would be able to perk up Mr Prickles.
