riley stumbled up the cliff, and panted with each hasty step she took. the
wind was strong and it blew her whispy blonde hair in all directions as she
struggled to keep it out of her face. when she reached the top, she could
barely remember why she had made the trip up in the first place. but she
knew she had some things to think about, seriously think about. it wasnt
as if she wasn't enjoying her time with sam, but lately he felt distant, like
he wasn't there half the time, and riley sure wasn't stupid enough not to
realise something was going on with him. the hufflepuff was almost sure
that he still loved her, but she had barely seen him this term and there
was part of her that knew he was having second thoughts... riley cursed
herself for ruining their friendship, but she was only letting it get to her,
was likely that he still loved her, that he hadn't met someone else, and
that he wasn't lying to her, but the sixteen year old wasn't ready to get
her heartbroken. so sitting down near the edge of the cliff she held her
hand in a fist, closed tightly over a stone that she turned around slowly
in her palm no longer caring about the state of her hair in the wind, she
wasn't that kind of girl anyway. letting her hand fall open, she watched
the stone fly over the edge of the cliff, but didn't see it land. so taking
deep breath in, riley pullled her legs into her chest and let out big sigh.

the blonde began to bite her lip,a habit she had become accustomed to
these last few years at hogwats, being a teenager wasn't easy, and she
would be the first to admit it. looking up briefly, she thought she heard a
noise behind her, but when nothing came of it she dismissed the thought
and let her legs go, peering over the edge ever so cautiously. "i hate you
i hate you i hate you"
she cried, now on her knees at the edge. had she
known there was somebody behind her, she might have lowered her now
screaming voice, but as far as she knew the cliffs were deserted and she
wanted to keep it that way. but just as the tought crossed her mind, riley
could have sworn she heard somebody behind her, as she turned around
her cheeks turned a magnificent shade of pink and she stumbled over her
words. "aeon?" she asked, rather puzzled as to what he was doing there.
tucking a loose strand of hair delicately behind her hair she stood up and
walked towards aeon and said "what are you doing here?" her tone and
voice becoming quiet and weak as she stood before the gryffindor boy.

It was a freezing cold day, and the wind that whipped through the castle grounds only made it worse, but Aeon wouldn't let it ruin his plans for going outside. He needed fresh air and sunlight, instead of the darker, stuffy insides of the school building. The Gryffindor boy tugged on his black winter coat, complete with a silver clasp, and cast Bluebell flames into a glass jar for warmth. After taking a deep breath, he set out of the castle and trudged up to the cliffs, keeping his cloak tightly around him. Slung over his shoulder was his messenger bag of space, full of all his drawing equipment, as well as textbooks and other bits and bobs, yet it was still surprisingly light. He planned to practice some spells or draw the view from the cliff face, where due to it being out of bounds, he wouldn't be disturbed. Sure he was a Prefect and they were meant to be rule enforcers and set examples, but he'd never really understood why he'd been chosen, when he was one of the people always breaking the rules. Perhaps it was just because of his good grades, but either way, he was still happy with the choice.

When the blond haired boy reached his destination, however, he found it was already occupied by somebody else. As he approached the girl, he could hear her yelling, and was quite taken aback. Crap. Maybe I should leave her too it.. He thought, about to turn around, but the Hufflepuff girl had noticed him. "Oh, hi there Riley. I was just hoping to draw or get as much magic practice as I can in before the holidays started, didn't know someone was already here." He replied casually, noting her weak tone. "But uhh, are you okay? You sound kind of..strange. What are you doing here anyway? This place is out of bounds." He realized how stupid his statement sounded as soon as he said it, for he too was there. Rules are made to be broken. The boy thought, pulling his hood down further over his blue eyes to hide the fact he was rolling them.

Reaching a weary hand up to her wind swept hair, Riley attempted to brush it down as she realised who she was on her knees before. "Oh ah" she said, shaking her head slightly, "Nevermind" she said rather weakly. Pulling herself to her feet she walked towards the prefect and tried to force a smile across her pale lips. There was no hiding how embarassed she was to be caught up at the cliffs as her cheeks blushed red and she bit her lip once more. Pulling at her top, Riley realised what a mess she was but decided she could still save face. "I'm fine, really" she said, turning back to the cliff, but holding her honey colored hair back this time as she neared the edge once more. Crouching down on the floor she smiled back at Aeon, beckoning him to join her. She crossed her legs and waited for the blonde headed boy to join her in the wind. "What have you got in there?" she asked, pointing towards his bag, the hufflepuff wondered what on earth he would have wanted to bring up to the cliffs, she even began to wonder why he was there. As far as she knew hardly any students ever took the treck up there, prefects especially.

She shouldn't have been so nervous, but being around prefects always made her a little giddy. There was just something about that badge that made her blush everytime. as Aeon joined her by the edge she let her soft lips curve into a smile, there was no point in worrying, afterall she only thought that something was wrong, she could be wrong. She hoped she was. "When did being a teenager get so hard?" she asked the gryffindor boy, she hardly noticed that she was leaning her head against his shoulder as she spoke. Looking up at the sky she tried to erase all of the doubt and fear from her mind, tried to pretend that she was just another girl and that life was going swimmingly. There was something about being up at the cliffs that helped her forget, similar to the feeling of ease she got from the Quidditch pitch. Riley barely noticed how awkward she had made the situation, after recovering from yelling in front of the boy, she was now leaning against him. They barely knew eachother, but the brown eyed girl didn't seem to mind at all.

Aeon frowned slightly, his arms folded as Riley tried telling him she was fine, which much cheek blushing and lip biting. The Gryffindor boy nodded. "You don't sound very convincing." he pointed out, smiling lightly as he spoke before following her carefully towards the edge of the cliff. There, he glanced down and noticed how high they were, and how deadly the fall was. That seems really dangerous..the school should set up a barrier or something to stop people from falling. he thought, then remembered again that the place was out of bounds, and scrambled back a bit to sit next to Riley.

When the Hufflepuff girl pointed out Aeon's bag and asked what was inside, the boy shrugged his shoulders. "Oh, y'know. Mainly just art gear and things like that. A few spell books, too. I thought I might get some drawing or magic practice done." he waved his hand in the air, gesturing as he spoke, which seemed to be a habit he'd gotten lately, and set down his jar with the other. Riley leaned into him then, and he looked down at her in surprise before giving a light cough. "Well, I dunno, really. I'm not really going through the same stuff that other people my age are." Aeon muttered, thinking for a second of Brodie. "It'll probably turn out fine, though. I'm sure you're a strong person. You'll pull through."
