Matthew,

Hi! I'm super jealous of you right now. Here I am getting ready to head to class and you're off being free. What's freedom looking like these days?

Guess who was named one of the new Slytherin prefects? Me! Isn't that great?

Write back soon!
Alana

Alana,

I can not tell a lie. Freedom is pretty great. Though there are some things I miss about the school, Quidditch for example, watching you get schooled by Ravenclaw gave me more pleasure than I would ever dare say to your face. Though I think I got the better deal, I'm currently away in Asia studying dragons, I still don't really know how I got this job but its pretty cool.

I knew you'd get prefect. It might not be a side of you I've seen much off but I just know there's a miss bossy pantsin there, show the first years who's boss!

Always a pleasure hearing from you!

Matthew.

Matthew,

There's nothing to think about. You've definitely got the better deal. It's my OWL year for Merlin's sake. Dragons? Really? That's so cool! Send me a picture of them.

I'll tell you the same thing I'm telling my patrol partner- Ravenclaw is going down this year. They won't stand a chance. Me, bossy? I have no idea what you're talking about.

Alana

Alana,

I made an attempt to procure a photo for you, it did not go well. Needless to say I have a lot to learn about dragons and at least I can say I got my first fire burns in my first few weeks on the job. I'll have to see if any of my colleagues have any photos laying around.

I remember my OWL year and the hell it entailed, to think you just a second year at the time. Actually I'd rather not think about that. I have no doubt that you'll whip thos kids into shape, shame you never had the chance to boss me around. Not that you could.

Matthew

Matthew,

Oh no! I'm so sorry that you got burned. You'll have a cool story to tell your next girlfriend, at least.

We won our first game of the season against Hufflepuff. I ended up with a cracked rib, but we won! I kind of wish I would've had someone to boss around while it was healing. It was hell for a few hours.

Alana

Alana,

Ha next girlfriend. That's a good one, not much happening on that front, I spend more time with the dragons than anyone female, human female that is.

You won. I'm reluctant to say this but congratulations. Eugh hate being glad Slytherin won a game. Wait you got hit? You must have been insufferable while you were healing.

Matthew.

Matthew,

I'm so sorry that it's been so long between letters. Quidditch has kept me far busier than I thought. I'm actually thinking of leaving the team. It's become a bit too much. We'll see how things go? Ravenclaw lost their first match, if you're still interested in that sort of thing.

Being a prefect has kept me busy as well. The first years are extra sassy! I don't remember being that rude when I was a first year. But whatever.

Write back when you can. And, I know that dragon scales are probably very pretty to look out, but make sure you get out and meet more humans. Don't be all isolated in Africa or wherever it was you said you were.

Alana

Alana,

I must also apologise for my late reply, dragon fire burns don't make for an easy writing experience. I hope by this point you haven't quit the team, it would be a real shame, seeing you play was always a highlight of my final years and you clearly think your worse than you actually are. I am glad to hear Ravenclaw won, how did your match go, if you're considering quitting it can't have gone well.

As I didn't know you as a first year I couldn't possiblypossibly comment, I'm not even sure if I remember being a first year as it was so long ago. Thankfully I never had to deal with that.

It was Asia and it's sweet of you to worry about me Alana but don't, I'm only here a few more weeks and I'm back in New Zealand for Christmas, I'm sure I'll have my full of human interaction.

Matthew.

Matthew,

The match actually went alright. I've just lost some interest in quidditch. It's not like I'm going to make a career of it or anything.

I'm currently writing to you from the hospital wing where I'm recovering from a stomach bug. It made me miss the last match, which I heard was pretty exciting. The injured players rolled through here after the game, and I managed to get a rundown. Someone was even thrown out of the game! Our last game should be interesting, especially if it ends up being a re-match against Ravenclaw.

We should meet up when you're back in New Zealand. I'll have to figure out a way to ditch Chaos for a little bit because he visits during the holiday, but it would be great to see you.

Alana

Alana,

I'm glad to hear the match went well, I'm sure playing Quidditch can sometimes take some of the fun out of it but I hope you stick with it, I always did enjoy watching you play and I hope at the very least you stick with it while your at school. I'm sorry to her about your bout of illness I hope you feel better soon but it sounds like you missed quite a game, it might be a good thing you did miss it or you'd be in the hospital wing with something a little more serious.

I'd love to see you if you think you can swing it, spending time together in school wasn't exactly looked favorably on by members of a certain family, but just to lay eyes on you would make my Christmas. I see your spending more time with Chaos, I would ask how that's going but to be honest I'd rather be burned head to toe by dragon fire than hear about your time with your future husband, I hope you can understand.

Hope you write back soon, and I hope you feel better.

Matthew.

Matthew,

It's finally the end of the semester, and I've found myself with a lot of free time since I don't have exams. I am feeling much better these days, and I'd like to let you know that I am planning on sticking with quidditch. The Yule ball is in a few days and then I'll finally be on break!

Don't say something like that! I promise that if we do meet up, that he'll be the last thing I mention. I'll be too be hearing your dragon stories anyway. How's January 1st say around 1:30 for lunch? Or breakfast, depending what kind of night you have. Haha. I think I can manage to get out of the house around that time, and it'll be great to see you!

Alana

Alana,

That's great news and who knows you may even end up as captain, you'll get to put your bossiness to even better use. I'm glad to hear you're feeling better and looking forward to the Yule ball, I trust you have a date? The fifth years bots must be fighting each other to take you, and no doubt a few older ones, I seem to remember you having a thing for older guys.

I shouldn't joke about such things when death by dragon fire is a real possibility out here, but you take my meaning. January 1 sounds perfect. However I cannot promise what condition I will shop in, new years eve is always a fun night. I do look forward to seeing you Alana, it's not the same knowing I can't run into you anymore.

Matthew.
