Norton was a little concerned about how they would start their term at the new magical school he was to attend with Gilly. The boy was concerned because it had talked about a sorting process and four houses and he just didn't know to which he might belong. Nortie was concerned because he didn't really want to be separated from his sister, but it was likely that this could happen. Considering that they were sometimes different people, despite being twins they could be different, this hat would probably see that. Norton stood next to his twin as they listened to the hat sing, this was a little weird, but the candles were floating, and when he had pointed that out to Gilly, she had just shoved him away, with a small bitter comment about how lame it was, so he decided against saying something about the hat singing. Nortie was really enjoying it, but perhaps she wasn't. Once they were sorted then, he would tell her, he would talk to her about it, share his excitement in the magic, and really Norton was disappointed when the song ended finally. Norton wondered if the hat could do more than just sing and dance.​

The first name was called, and Norton watched, very curiously as people were sorted, he looked as the first person walked over to the table and then the next one walked to the next one, he was fascinated by the process, the fact that the hat just knew every single time. He was loving it, his gaze was moving between the people being sorted to the professors, he couldn't believe all that he was seeing. He could see how it looking behind the table of professors, the candles and a fake sky above him. The boy was suddenly distracted when the Gilly was called up to be sorted, he couldn't believe that she was being sorted, he moved forward slightly and watched her, it didn't take too long and then then the hat called out where she was to be placed, Slytherin, now that he wasn't sure about. Would he be able to follow her to slytherin, she had always been maybe a little more ambitious. Nortie looked towards her walking to the slytherin table and flashed her his usual excited wide smile. Then his name was called, Gillespie, Norton. The boy stepped out and made his way to the stool, suddenly very nervous about this entire situation. He looked out over all the people and really couldn't believe that all of these people were magical. He was excited to meet the hat, to tell him how much he had enjoyed the song, how magical it was. He wondered where he might end up, with Gilly or without.​

Norton was quite surprised to have finally made it to graduation, after all of the years of work that he had done, and this was it. The hufflepuff had built this day up in his head and finally here it was for him. He had been to a few graduations in the past because of his status as a prefect, but he knew nothing would’ve prepared him for his graduation. He was sat in his seat at the ceremony, glancing over his shoulder to the crowds where he spotted Gilly. He waved at her but knew it wouldn’t be easy to be at graduation and not actually be part of the graduating class. He glanced towards April who was sat relatively close to him. He knew this wasn’t an easy day, he knew that she was nervous about the future, but for Norton he was pretty eager to get out into the world and make his mark. He looked towards the headmistress as she gave her speech and he listened to the head boy and girl as they too spoke. He was pretty proud of them both, but most of all Kauri, he had grown to really appreciate the other boy. But all too soon they were moving on to the name reading. He looked as the people before him were called and then eventually his was. He moved across the stage, much like had had once done as a first year. Norton shook the headmistresses hand and took his diploma. He took his seat again, and then applauded loudly for April, cheering happily for her. He couldn’t believe that was it. He was done. ​
