It was finally the year before OWLs. That meant that Sam had to everything she could to do her best, because she couldn't afford to disappoint her family, especially her father. No matter what she had to make him proud. It was a bit stressful that because her two oldest siblings now out of school, and Xavier not exactly the smartest kid in the family, no offence to her brother, and Sabrina, well, it didn't matter. Sam just had to be a role model, and show them that grades and school actually mattered. With that said, Sam packed all the books she needed in her backpack and headed to the library, thankfully finding a seat quicker than she had expected. It was mostly older students here, but Sam knew that with the upcoming OWLs and NEWTs, there were going to be fifth to seventh years here with their noses in their books already. Of course, the Slytherin still had an entire year before her grades mattered much more than they did currently, but she had to be prepared. She was taking as many classes as her schedule allowed, just in case. Which was also the reason as to why she had to begin studying early. She took out her water bottle, and her first textbook, Charms, and began to read, hoping she wouldn't have to deal with any distractions yet.

The fourth year meant that this was the last year to really take it easy. The next few years were going to be hell on earth, and Brayden worried about it somewhat, but not nearly to the degree of worrying about his hair or his appearance. He likely had a future in modeling or fashion, something to make others look as perfect as he did. Or at least, try. As he entered the library to hunt for some books based on his subject of charms, the amount of nerds in here made him shake his head. Figured. He sighed and went to the proper section, pulling out a small book that explained some theory of charms. Now, to find a table. It was all full, and there was one with a Slytherin in his year. Mackintosh, he thought. Something weird like that. He decided to at least ask her to let him sit with her, “You wouldn’t be too distracted if I sat here, would you, Mackin...tosh, I think?”

whoops

Sam hadn't gotten very far with her reading when she was interrupted, and she sighed inwardly, but put a smile on her face as she put down the book on the table without closing it - she wasn't anywhere near done, after all - and looked at the person who had spoken. Oh. It was a boy from her house and year. Fun. In fact, Sam had never actually spoken to the guy, but she'd heard of his arrogance. Maybe, if she made a point to want to study, he would do the same. It would feel satisfying if she could have that type of influence. "No, of course not, go ahead," she gestured, making some space for her fellow housemate. "Correct," she confirmed, referring to her surname. "And you're Chevalier, right?" If he didn't ask for her first name, why should she? Even if last names were, usually, much more formal.
