This is set in Y21, the second lesson of Muggle Studies. Liam Nightray and Jeremiah Raven have been paired together by their Muggle Studies Professor, Abbigale Hayes, to go on a muggle date [x]. Instead of doing a one-post class, Raze and I decided to do attendance posts in-class, and roleplay the date here for our own (and hopefully your) enjoyment. It's canon, is subject to all the normal rules and such, and will hopefully be hilarious. They are in the United States, are going to catch a movie, and then go to dinner - as a couple on a date, before returning to Abbigale.
Jeremiah could not believe that this was happening. Not only were they learning about Muggle dating - something he thought was redundant anyway - but he had to be paired up. That was not even the end of his misfortune - he was being paired up with Liam Nightray. Not even a girl! He was supposed to be nice and polite on this - this date?! What in Merlin's name did she think he and Liam thought of each other? They hated each other! This was not some childish, silly little hate between school-boys, Jeremiah hoped that one day Liam would just be hit by the Killing curse and die. He regretted ever touching that stupid bottle. He should have given her the bird, dropped out of the class and ran back to the Gryffindor Common Room. Who cares if he lost even more points for Gryffindor? So far he had lost a lot for his house already - what was a few more? If Professor Kingsley really had a problem, then Jeremiah would explain to her that for four years he had been good, and tried to do the right thing all the time. Now he was just sick of it. Liam had managed to consistently pull him into trouble, tripping off his temper, and in the end Jeremiah would be left losing points. Now he was on a date with the Slytherin. An actual date.

He even had a bouquet of flowers in his hands that the professor told him he should buy for his 'date'. He did not know what Liam got, but all he wanted to do was hit the other boy with this flowers. Returning to his 'date', he realised that they were very much in public. There were plenty of people around to see him doing this - with Liam! He wore a very forced smile on his face, and slammed the flowers into the other boy's chest. "You're the girl," he growled through bared teeth, finally allowing his smile to fade. The boy had to pay for the girl, but there was no way in Hell that Jeremiah was going to allow Liam to pay for anything for him. Knowing LIam, everything he gave Jeremiah would be poisoned, for one, and for two, there was no way Miah was going to be known as the girl in this.

They each had fifty dollars to spend on each other. He had already brought flowers, and now it was a film or something. After that, dinner. He doubted he would be able to sit across a table from Liam and actually enjoy something. He grabbed Liam's arm roughly and dragged the other boy to the theatre. The professor said that he should escort their dates to the theatre. This was him escorting Liam - even if it was a little rougher than should be. They dragged the Slytherin to the theatre, ignoring the curious looks they received, and pulled him straight to a corner, pushing him against the wall. "We are going to get some food, pick a movie, watch the movie, go to a stupid dinner, and then find Professor Hayes." He looked over his shoulder at prying eyes, and growled. "This is the most ridiculous thing I have even witnessed," he muttered, folding his arms across his chest.

The sun was shining brilliantly on the clear blue sky. A soft breeze was blowing in the air filled with the chattering of the crowd and the aroma from nearby restaurants. It was a beautiful spring day, a perfect day for shopping or just walking around, hanging out with friends, or families. It was a perfect day for pet lovers to walk their pets, and for couples to spend some time together. It would have been a nice day, had Liam not been forced to spend it with someone as despicable as the Gryffindor named Jeremiah Raven.

Saved for the glares, he had not exchanged a single word with the Lion since their stupid professor had left them to enjoy their 'day'. Their date. If Professor Hayes was planning to make them get along, then she would fail. The battle had already been lost years ago, for the Slytherin and the Gryffindor would never be able to tolerate each other, much more, treat each other as fellow human beings, if not friends. That would never happen. Not in this lifetime. Not in the next. Not ever. What was their professor thinking anyway? Muggle dating? He should just left the room when he first heard about this instead of touching that stupid bottle. No. He should have dropped out of the class already. This was ridiculous. And this was his first date too! His first date! And he was going to spend it with the Gryffindor. Jeremiah wasn't even a girl! But his gender was not the real issue. It was him. Just him. Jeremiah could be a girl and Liam would still want to kill him. He could be the most beautiful girl around and Liam would refuse to even touch him. He despised the Gryffindor too much it was already bordering on becoming unreasonable. But he cared not. Their arguments became more frequent as the years went by, others would probably say that it was their way of greeting each other, that the insults were rarely meant and their arguments petty, a tradition perhaps, but they knew nothing. He hated Jeremiah, and nothing, not even this cursed date, or all their crazy professor's plan, could change that.

With a paper bag in hand, the Slytherin 'waited' for his 'date' to return. They had been told to buy something for their 'date'. He wouldn't have wasted his time to buy something for the Gryffindor, but wasn't it the man's duty to buy something for his 'girl' during their date? He was not going to be the girl in this relationship, and that meant that he had to do the man's part of buying the gifts, which was why he was currently holding a paper bag. Besides, he would never let himself owe the Gryffindor anything. Never. If Jeremiah was the only person that could save him from dying, he rather die, though before he does, he would make sure that the Gryffindor would die with him.

Liam carelessly slung the bag over his shoulder. He didn't care whether it would destroy his 'gift', he didn't mean to impress the Lion anyway. There were plenty of people around, they were in public, and he was sure that their professor was there somewhere, observing, which was why he made it a point to act rude at anyone who happen to cross his path. He didn't even bother to drop his scowl nor the glare that he had been wearing since earlier. He had been distracted by a little girl tripping and dropping her ice cream near him that he didn't notice the Gryffindor's arrival. If he did, then he wouldn't have let him shove those flowers into his chest. The forced smile didn't go unnoticed, however, as he too, was wearing the same. The atmosphere between resembled a foggy-midwinter evening. He was wearing a forced smile too, though his eyes were murderous, his hand gripping the bouquet of flowers with the other holding the paper bag's handle. That grip became tighter as the Gryffindor's mouth open to say those words. Those cursed words. He would have said that too but the Gryffindor beat him to it. His lips tightened before the forced smile faded from his face, and there it was again, that tense silence, like the temperature suddenly dropped and they were teetering on the edge of a knife- danger waiting on both sides. He opened his mouth to say something, a snide remark or an insult perhaps, but before he could get a word in, the Gryffindor grabbed his arm roughly and dragged him to wherever it was that he was planning to go.

As they were told to go on a 'date', one would expect them to walk side-by-side like a couple, but there was no way that people would mistake them as lovers this way. In fact, it was as if he was being pushed around by the other, which was unacceptable. How dare this stupid flea think that he could treat him this way? Shove a flower into his chest, drag him, and now, push him against a wall! Jeremiah was surely asking to die. He was asking for it, and Liam will not hesitate to do just that even if they were in public. He backed away a little and stiffened up, glaring. He resisted the urge to swing his arm and give the Gryffindor a punch. He already lost his house points last meeting, and while he didn't really care that much and while he had been determined to keep being a thorn in their professor's side, he knew that he should slow down a little or he’d face expulsion. A risk that he would not take. But hearing Jeremiah command him like he was some sort of a slave made him want to really take the chance and hurt the other. "I am not your slave, Raven." He said, slamming his gift into the other’s chest the same way the other did earlier. "You're the girl. You look and act like one, it would be easy." He hissed, folding his arms across his chest too. The tension in the air was almost palpable – it was as if the world was challenging either of them to make a decision. "I won't be the girl here. Take these stupid flowers, eat them if you will" He then threw the same bouquet that the Gryffindor 'gave' him a few minutes ago back to its owner. Jeremiah should like his gift. It had been custom made for him. He should thank him for being a good 'date' in fact, for unlike the Gryffindor who had bought these common flowers, he made sure that he bought the right thing for the occasion. A small funeral bouquet, complete with a ribbon with the Gryffindor's name in it.
