Craven: History behind the name:

English locational origin from the district of Craven in the West Riding of Yorkshire. The place name is recorded as "Crave" in the Domesday Book of 1086, and probably derives from the Welsh "craf" meaning garlic. From very early in this families beginnings they were associated with the hunting and killing of vampires in the magical world. A strong celtic family not interested in keeping its line pure for many reasons, mainly as their position in society was so fraught with danger that often covens of vampires would hunt them out and attempt to slaughter any in the Craven bloodline. In order to simply keep the Craven name from disappearing entirely William Craven married a muggle woman. The line was never pure since then but there has always been a Craven

A Coat of Arms granted to the Craven family depicts a red fesse (horizontal stripe) between six red cross crosslets fitchee on a silver shield, the Crest being an ermine griffin with wings addorsed, beaked and foremembered gold, on a red chapeau turned up ermine.

After William 1 conquered England in 1066, he rewarded his followers with land grants. Amongst these followers were ones known as "Forten Bras" which literally translates as "strong in the arm", itself a rare surname, and from these people developed the Armstrangs or Armstrongs. The clan has always been centred in Liddesdale in Cumbria, where its fierce and warlike members were enlisted by the Scottish and English kings in turn. The first in the Armstrong magical line was Bruce Forten Bras who fought loyally for his king. Awarded lands in Ireland and a coat of arms for his bravery, Bruce settled well. Catholicism had taken a fervent hold on the country so he and his family always had to be most weary of practicing their magic.

A Little Deeper

Personality:She is very proud and tends to detach herself from situations whenever possible so she can not get too close to anyone or anything. She did not get her prefect status by being all nice and bookish but from deceptive and cunning means. Moko is fiercely loyal. She prides herself on her achievements and takes things much too seriously.


History: Moko grew up in Yorkshire in England. Her parents were both on the board for the regulation of magical animals. There had always been a Craven in this department as there always was a Craven at Durmstrang. They attended no other school ever. When Hogwarts, Scotland first opened its doors they were tempted then but the devision of the houses did not suit them as they did not feel they could be compartmentalized into any one house. Their thrill for the kill and hunting of magical beasts and beings, the fact that they were not of pureblood stock though had often married into some, their bravery in battle, their loyalty and intelligence would be questioned considerably if they were placed in ‘the wrong’ house. So they stayed where they knew they belonged at Durmstrang.

She is the only sibling of Alison Armstrong and Rodger Craven.

Rodger and Alison were involved in a muggle car incident October of 2023. Their only daughter besides being mortified at how her parents were killed, was sent to the only surviving relation. This was not even a blood relative but her mothers, deceased sisters husband, Samson Kolpeck
