Michael's very nerdy, but his favorite thing to talk about are DRAGONS! He collects miniature versions of dragons (as well as any other reptilian animals he can get his hands on and under the nose of his mother) so he can get to know them. He hopes to someday work with dragons and (secretly) wants to attempt to have one as a pet... at least for a little while. He also loves coming up with and learning new conspiracy theories (like the reason Voldemort didn't have a nose was because plastic surgery went wrong or that the current UK Minister of Magic is really 3 goblins and a niffler in robes). He enjoys being a part of nerd culture as well as creating new games to play on brooms. However, he has friends in all houses. He's a decent student, excelling in his favorite class, Care of Magical Creatures, but also does well in Charms and Herbology.

Michael is the only son and middle child of Elizabeth and Lucas Newton. Elizabeth is the only daughter of Samantha (nee Payne) and Liam Jacobs. She is the fourth of give children and grew up in Scotland, where she attended Hogwarts all seven years. During that time, she served as a Ravenclaw prefect and scored Os in Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, and Herbology while holding Es in Muggle Studies, History of Magic, and an A in Arithmancy. Lucas Newton is the oldest of two children. His muggle parents are Thomas and Sarah Newton, and he grew up on a military base in Germany. He was the only sibling to attend wizardry school, having attended Durmstrang for his first 4 years and then transferring to Hogwarts. He was in Hufflepuff his remaining three years and did relatively well on his OWLs and NEWTs.

Elizabeth met Lucas at Hogwarts in her third year, and they were married in August 2022 when she was 18 and Lucas was 21. They shortly thereafter moved to Surrey where they bought a small cottage. They were married for 10 years before having their first child, and in that time, Lucas rose up in the ranks of the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts office at the Ministry of Magic while also dabbling in inventing. He decided to retire from the Ministry and focus on his inventing and repair business in 2029. Elizabeth worked as a free-lance tutor for students taking their OWLS. In 2032, they welcomed their first child, Roseanne. Michael came along in 2037 with Amelia trailing along in 2041. The group is relatively close knit and spend their vacation time in New Zealand and Germany seeing family.

Michael very much follows the path of the middle child and has kind of forged his own way for himself in life. He's the only boy in his family, and his older sister Roseanne recently graduated from Hogwarts Scotland. She resides in London and is aspiring to work in the Department of International Magical Cooperation. His younger sister, Amelia, will be starting school in 2053. He's not very excited to have his baby sister annoying him all the time again, as she was only 6 when he first started school. His mother got a job with the Ministry in New Zealand, and his family will be fully relocating in early 2053. However, Michael transferred to Hogwarts Scotland at the beginning of his fifth year and will be staying with his cousins, Samantha and Issac Jacobs, until his parents and sister make the trek.
