As if
Jared had only really recently left school and was finding the real world slightly less fun than he had thought it would be when he was in Beauxbatons. He had had to work in his parents muggle shop over here in New Zealand and was also finding that less fun than he had hoped. Sure his mum and dad had bought him a little flat but he still had to pay the bills and work long hours. At least it was not everyday and like today it was his day off and like any teenager he was anywhere but at home. Because he had previously lived in another part of New Zealand everything here was unfamiliar and strange. He had liked his last living place but his parents had wanted him to get some independence which was what he guessed was the best thing they could do for him. With a sigh the teen walked over to a bench and sat down, wondering what to do next. There was really nothing for him to do.

James was still slightly hung-over from his drunken-fest last night. He was regretting it massively now, but James wouldn't be happy again until he was in love again. Him and Luna were "on a break" and James quite frankly, needed a girl. It was just as well that Eric had come to his rescue last night, if he hadn't he would've probably been waking up in a prison-cell this morning.

James spotted a guy who looked a couple of years younger than him sat on a bench near by. He slowly approached him, hoping this guy wasn't too loud as he still had a banging headache. James sat down next to the guy and gave him the best smile that he could show after the events of last night. "Hey, I hope you don't mind me sitting here..." He told the guy, tenderly sitting down on the bench in desperate hope that this terrible hangover would soon disappear.

Jared watched as the crowed passed him by. He felt odd now that he too was just another member of the public working for a living and straining to keep afloat. He didn't know what he wanted to do as a job now, he had never really had much of an idea about it. He had always just kept his head down in school to get the best grades so that he had a better range of suitable jobs later on. What he had not taken in to account was the hard work needed to get a job. He sighed again, running his hand through his hair as a man sat down next to him. Jared would not have really noticed him normally but he was speaking to him now and he could not just ignore him. Turning his head to face him he quickly shook his head. "No no its fine, im just planning what im going to do next." He said passively to the stranger who was now sat next to him talking. He did not mind all that much, in school he had had many friends so talking to strangers was something he was good at

"Ah Good." James said as he leant back against the bench. He was really beginning to regret getting himself so ridiculously drunk last night. And he was going to regret it for the rest of the day now, but James never learnt. A few weeks time, he'd be getting himself drunk once again. Like a big drunken cycle for men such as James who got drunk once too often. "So...what are you planning on doing next?" He asked the guy trying to put this hangover to the back of his mind. besides, he was here now, it was worth at least trying to have a friendly conversation with this guy.

Jared began to shake his legs quickly in an awkward manner. Not knowing many people in this area he was not sure what they were like around here, usually people tended to be a more or less certain way depending on where they were from and how the people were around them. Jared thought he seemed okay, he had asked if it was okay to sit down after all. When the stranger next to him spoke he was pleased and even relieved about it. He pursed his lips as he thought about the question. What did he want to do now. "Thats a good question. I lie music so i may head in that general direction." He said thoughtfully. He could be a private instructor, he had been playing since he was a child and was very good so maybe teaching younger people would be the way to go.

"Music sounds good to me..." James replied a little awkwardly. After all, he didn't really now this guys name, and already he knew about his life plans. "Anyway...you should probably know that I'm James..." He told the guy with a sigh on the end, the hangover beginning to really kick in now. The guy looked a few years younger than him, possibly just out of school, seeing as he didn't appear to have a job. But then again, James had left school at the age of 18 and 3 years later he still hadn't found himself a job...Or bothered to look for that matter.

Jared noted the awkward tint in the guys tone but didn't really register it. He was being friendly towards him and that was all that Jared found important right now. When the man, now know as James, introduced himself Jared was not so certain that his name was something which he had to know but it was nice all the same. "Im Jared." He answered in return. He had never been one to give his full name away to someone that he just met, he never saw the point. There were some things which people did not need to know about when they first meet someone. Last names being one of those things. "So what are you doing next?" He asked, using James question and turning it around on him.

James smiled as the guy also introduced himself. Things were a little less awkward now. They always were when you knew someone on a name-to-name basis. "Ah it's good to meet you Jared." He said, not bothering with the whole shaking of hands business, he was too tired and too hungover for all of that nonsense. James had to stop himself from laughing as Jared asked him what he was going to do next with his own laugh. "If I'm honest mate...I don't have a clue...I need to get my life back on track but I won't bore you with the details..." He told the guy with a friendly, but tired laugh on the end.

Unsure of what to say when it was nice to meet him Jared just nodded slightly at him then turned his eyes back to the people walking past. He wasn't going to lie, some of the girls walking by were lookers to say the least but he was not going to waste his time on such a pointless task as trying to talk to them properly, that was what clubs were for most of the time. Picking up drunk and up for it girls. He looked back at James and shrugged his shoulders. "Well im only sat here because i have nothing else better to do with my day and they say its best to talk about your problems to sort them out." He said pursing his lips. He may not know the guy but to be perfectly honest, what else did he have planned for today apart from wander around like a spare muppet all day.

James appreciated this guys offer of help, but as far as James was concerned, this guy was barely an acquaintance. James' problems were none of his business. So James decided to politely refuse the offer. Although he was struggling to portray the politeness in himself at the moment. "Listen mate...thanks...but no thanks..." He trailed off. "I know you're trying to help and everything...but I don't need the world knowing about my problems alright?" James was trying to be friendly and gave Jared an half-friendly smile.

Jared nodded, he knew where this guy as coming form they had just met and he had not expected him to really share his problems so openly to him. "Alright the, just asking." He said quietly as he looked at his skater shoes. "So what would you like to do as a job then?" He asked wondering what he wanted to do seeing as he was not working right now. He found it quite interesting when people said what job they would like to do. There was such a wide range. Funnilye enough Jared had never really wanted to be too many things. Of course there was a few usually answers as he grew up, super hero, Auror, famous Quidditch player, but once he earned how to play a guitar it had stayed the same thing. A musician

James had to laugh. This guy was asking all the wrong questions today. "Not a clue mate...sorry that's a pretty boring answer...my life's just messed up..." james said depressively before deciding that he wasn't being a very good friend to Jared. "What about you? Got any amazing plans?" James asked, trying to sound interested.

A little disappointed by the guys answer Jared frowned slightly and pursed his lips. He had always been under the impression that everyone had a job which they would love to do above anything else. Maybe that was just a majority who knew what job they wanted. "Well I want to be a successful musician." He said quickly. He knew that there were many unemployed musicians out there but that was not going to stop him, he was determined to make music his job and hobby. "Apart from that i have no idea what i want to do. Im working at my parents shop right now but im not enjoying it much. It just isn't me." He said as he scratched the back of his head as he spoke. Owning a shop had always been his parents dream, not his.

When James heard the word 'musician' he was shocked. the last thing he had expected this guy to be was a musician. "Really? Wow...that's really cool..." James said, genuinely interested now that the guy had told him this. He had always admired musicians, it was a job that was challenging, and it was a tough industry. Any old Tom, **** and Harry knew that much. Even if they didn't know just how tough it actually was, most people knew that it wasn't the easiest route to take in life.

Jared grinned and nodded a James, happy to have gotten a good reaction out of him instead of the caged secretive side he had jut been getting. "Yeah ever since I was younger. I'm doing okay at the moment, I play a few gigs at a few bars and such but its not what I'm after. You know." He said keeping the conversation going seeing as the guy seemed to like the new subject. He wondered how long he could keep the guy interested properly before he decided that he had had enough and left.

"Well that's a good start..." James said, trying to be nice as his headache bothered him. "But I guess the bigger gigs will come in time..." He told the guy, guessing that he already knew all of this, but it wouldn't hurt him to hear it once more. "So what do you play?...Guitar...Piano...Drums?" He asked Jared, quite happy that he seemed to have made a new friend today, despite the hangover.
