FULL NAME: ​

Mazikeen Roe​

MEANING:​

Mazikeen - In Jewish mythology, Mazikeen are invisible demons which can create minor annoyances or greater dangers.​

Roe - Though the name does mean: Roe Name Meaning. English: nickname for a timid person, from Middle English ro 'roe'; this is a midland and southern form of Ray but it is a combination of her adoptive parents surnames combined. ​

WHY:​

Her adoptive parents had been trying to adopt a baby for years, they could not have a child of their own, and their love of children led them both to a deep desire to have a baby, someone they could raise from birth and be entirely their own. It was made more difficult when they were certain they wanted a magical baby on top of that. To be in the world but unable to take a part in it to them both seem liked a cruel punishment for a child already thrown out of one world. It was why when they adopted Mazikeen, and gave her the name she now holds that to them it means devil, their little devil, so elusive but an angel as soon as she was in their arms. They do often shorten the name to Maze, just since Mazikeen can be a bit of a mouthful at times. Her surname Roe is a combination of her parents surname, Ross and Aglive. They had settled upon this amalgamation of the names when they got married and were happy to pass it down to Mazikeen. Mazikeen loves her names, she loves her first name, the nickname, the reason and the surname.​

NICKNAMES: ​

Maze is the nickname which Mazikeen holds. She is open with it, encourages those around her to use it and always loves why she has that. She knows that its a simplification of a name thats a little odd and a little long. She responds to the name with warmth and is happy to explain it to other if they dont know her full name, or are simply confused by the nickname. She spells it M-A-Z-E, rather than M-A-I-Z-E, which is also an acceptable spelling of the nickname, but she grew up with the former being the spelling for it and so that holds the biggest place in her heart. Though she will be inclined to correct people upon it. Since its just a nickname and its pronounced the same. ​

AGE: ​

17, her birthdays are usually spent celebrating with her parents, since she does lack any real friends so far, but she definitely doesnt mind spending it with them.​

D.O.B.: ​

24th April 2034, she was born in St. Mungos hospital in New Zealand in the early hours of the day. She spent a whole week at the hospital before she was allowed to go home with her adoptive parents. There were no complications in her birth, and she was born exactly on time. She had a small mat of hair when she was born. ​

FATHER:​

Biological Father is unknown. Her father was barely seventeen at the time of her birth, he was a man who while in love with the girl having his child was in no position to have a baby. He knew he was too immature for it, he could barely look after himself and his family had very little money that he just didnt think it would be right for him to force a child to live like that. His original suggestion had been for his girlfriend to get rid of the baby when they first found out about it, but after a lengthy discussion with her, they settled upon adoption. Mazikeen knows nothing about him, it was a closed adoption and he had never tried to contact her. Though his relationship with her biological mother did not last, the man holds no ill feelings towards what happened or her in general. He wishes that he could one day meet Mazikeen but is just hopeful in that she found a good home that provided her with everything he felt could not. He is a mixed blood wizard living in Australia. ​

MOTHER:​

Biological Mother is unknown. Much like with the father Mazikeen knows next to nothing about her. Only that she too was young. That was the only real piece of information that she knows about her. There is a letter her mother left her for when she was old enough to read it. Mazikeens adoptive parents have been exceedingly open about this letter and saying to her that it is when she decides shed old enough that theyll show her the letter. Mazikeens mother was a muggleborn witch with a heavily religious family. She had been mostly cast aside when her magic had appeared, but she carried with her a few of the beliefs with it. Mostly to do with the child. While she knew she didnt want to keep the baby she didnt want to have her not be born either. Which was why she put her up for adoption. Mazikeens mother loves her dearly, even though she doesnt know anything about her. Mazikeen holds no ill-feelings towards her biological parents, her adoptive parents have been so support in Mazes questions and needs, as well as teaching her about the complexities of people. ​

Her adoptive parents are Caty Ross and Lara Aglive, two mixed blood women who attended school in Scotland. They are both Kiwi born women, Caty is a potioneer, and Lara is a Magizoologist. They are warm and inviting people, whom Mazikeen loves with all her heart, despite the fact that they can be exceedingly over protective of her. ​

SIBLING(S):​

No Siblings. Her adoptive parents said that Mazikeen was more than enough for them. They havent thrown out the idea, of course if a situation presented itself then they would consider it. Mazikeen doesnt know if her biological parents have any children, but shes happy to not know either. Occasionally she worries about meeting them but she doesnt think thatll ever happen. ​

OTHER:​

Catys parents died when she was just out of school, and Laras parents live in Russia due to her fathers work on Arctic circle magical plants and herbs, so they are not figures in Mazes life. ​

PET(S):​

A tabby cat named Smith. Although Mazikeen had first wanted a dog, her cat is her most beloved friend in the world. She's excited to bring him to hogwarts with her when she finally attends, and utterly adores him. She is the sort of person who loves both cats and dogs but she prefers cats just that little bit. ​

THOUGHTS ON BLOOD STATUS:​

Mazikeen give that she was adopted has feelings towards blood purity that align with this. She doesnt care about what people are, she doesnt think anyone should. Maze believes that its a futile thing that ends in broken families, ill feelings towards others and a sense of false importance. She believes that people should just have fun, that they should love each other and be good to people. ​

FIRST HOME: THis is the only home shes known. It is a medium sized house in a magical area at the the north of the south island. It is within walking distance to other magical areas and easy to access the busier areas. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a large garden, where she has been able to practice basic herbology, flying and a little about potions. There is plenty of room for her to live, for her to be close to family and also for her to be alone from it. ​

Since her third year she has known herself to be a lesbian, she hasn't really told anyone and tried for a while to deny it. ​

HAIR COLOUR: ​

Mazikeen has blonde hair, she likes having blonde hair, and she spends a lot of time making sure that it sits right. She enjoys her hair, and enjoys its colour, but wouldve enjoyed it any colour it couldve been. It sits at around shoulder length, though sometimes shorter. Shes never particularly liked growing out her hair, it becomes noted and difficult to manage, and she just believes it suits her better when its shorter and easier to control. She does feel jealous of girls who have long hair and manage it well, but she knows that she suits her hair as is. ​

HAIR HAS BEEN DYED​

Being so young, Mazikeen has never dyed her hair. She has had no interest in doing so and knows that it probably wont be until shes older that she decides to do such a thing. This is mostly because she does already really enjoy her hair, the style and colour that it is. So, shes not left with any desire to change it in any way. ​

EYE COLOUR: ​

Mazikeen has light grey eyes, she knows that its not a fairly common colour for eyes and is likely just a little step from blue but she always sees grey. Mazikeen has always liked her eyes, her parents always go on about how beautiful they are, and shes just always enjoyed that. Theres a little side to her that wishes her hairs were more like either of theirs, but she does enjoy her eyes, how they look. She does not wear glasses, she doesnt require them. ​

BIRTHMARKS/SCARS:​

Mazikeen has no distinct birthmarks or scars, though she has a few freckles on her face, specifically on her right cheek. Though she has always enjoyed adventuring and having fun, shes still relatively cautious and will always think before she does anything. Her adoptive parents also being protective over her helps this a lot. ​

BODY TYPE: ​

Maze has a very normal body type, she is of average height and weight for her age group. She doesnt tower over anyone, but shes also not the smallest. There is a part of Mazikeen that wishes that she was skinnier, she has seen other girls who are around her and skinnier than she is, but this is a very small part of her mind. Overall, Maze is happy with her body shape, she is happy with her height, and she is hopeful that she will remain happy with it as she grows older and her body develops in other ways. ​

BLOOD TYPE:​

Since she was adopted it was vital that her new parents know her blood type, even in the magical world, and she is A (-ve). She hasnt had any use for this information as of yet, but shes happy to know it. ​

WHICH HAND?:​

Mazikeen is right handed. She was taught to read and write by one of her mothers, Lara, who spent a good deal of time in her youth teaching her. They brought in a tutor to help her improve as she got older as well as mixing in some lessons from the subjects they were good at. The tutor was important for teaching Mazikeen how to write in cursive, how to write in a quill and ink, and taught her a lot about what would be considered muggle things, basic arithmetic, geography and about muggles. She picked up the writing utensils in her right hand, and has never used anything other than it. ​

VOICE: ​

Having been born and raised in New Zealand, by New Zealand parents, she has a thick New Zealand accent. She expects that most people would have that kind of accent in going to a school in New Zealand, but she is aware that its quite an international school. She is looking forward to interacting with more international people, with origins from lots of different places. ​

I CAN SPEAK:​

Mazikeen has only ever learned english, there was no time or desire for anyone around her for her to pick up another language so she never did. She wishes she could speak another language and is generally jealous of people who can. To her its just a skill she might one day pick up but for now shes left only knowing one language.​

PERSONAL STYLE: ​

Smart casual is the best way to describe Mazes style. She wears things that she likes and are comfortable, but arent always the most casual of outfits. She likes to wear things that she can move in while also not looking like an idiot or like she doesnt know how to match clothes. She loves colours and will very often wear varying colours and styles. She likes her clothes to be loud while also not being so loud as to be bad. ​

Mazikeen loves fun, above everything else, she loves having fun, creating a fun situation and just doing something thatll bring a smile to her face. She loves animals a lot, her favourite being cats but also loving dogs. She likes herbology and potions, so far the only magical academic subjects she knows. She likes styling her hair, and she loves colour. She utterly adores adding colour to everything. She likes books about romance but also loves books about horror. She likes the way the two can contrast with each other. She likes fruits and eating healthy but has an unhealthy obsession with canary creams, and pumpkin pasties. ​

CHARACTER DISLIKES: ​

Mazikeen dislikes people who are mean, who actively hurt other people. She dislikes backstabbers and people who doesnt express any loyalty at all. She dislikes being forced to learn things she doesnt want and she dislikes having to fly. Though she can do it, she doesnt like it. Maze doesnt like rushing into things, people who dislike animals and hates those that would hurt them. ​

GOALS: ​

Mazikeen has a few goals with her life, she doesnt know what she wants to work as, but primarily she wants to have fun, she wants to help bring joy and love to people. She wants to adopt children, she wants to find love, she wants to find deep and meaningful friendships. She wants to own lots of dogs and cats, she wants to be satisfied in a career. ​

BOGGART: ​

Being cast out of her family is definitely what she would see. Them being dead would be saddening, but she has a very deep fear of being cast out, of being unwanted by another set of parents. She doesnt think itll ever happen but she knows its her deepest fear. ​

PATRONUS: ​

It is likely that her patronus would be a dolphin, a creature which messes around, plays and is generally a happy creature. ​

PATRONUS MEMORY:​

Mazikeen has had a good, and loving childhood, there are a lot of memories that she would happily say could create a patronus charm. Any of the ones where she was with both her parents in their house, either making a potion, in the garden, or just having fun. She knows that they would be strong enough to create one. They fill her heart with love and joy that it would come easy to her. ​

DEMENTOR: ​

Her worst memory is the day her parents confirmed to her that she was adopted, as well as telling her the definition. It worked out in the end, but the feelings of being unloved, of being cast out, of not being wanted in the moment washed over her, and remembering those feelings would come flooding back. She has adjust and is happy about knowing, and how her parents told her, but in that moment of finding out it was hard for her to come to terms with it. ​

VERITISERUM: ​

Mazikeen would admit that shes worried about letting her parents down, that shes worried about what school will bring her, if itll make things worse or if shell actually do well. Shes not overly academic, but she just wants to make them proud of her. She knows shell end up being jealous of those who do better without doing anything herself to make herself better, but she just worries that all the stock shes put into hogwarts will come to nothing. ​

MIRROR OF ERISED​

As much as she loves her adoptive parents, in the mirror of erised she would see her biological parents standing with her adoptive parents, shed be head girl at school, and theyd all be looking at her proudly. She would be able to have grown and shown off to them, shes not a particularly academically driven person, but she would desire for all of them to be proud of her and that would likely be how she would see it. They would all be looking at her with love and she would just be happily settled into this wide family who loved her. ​

AMORENTIA: ​

Possibly the only thing that Mazikeen would smell would be fresh popcorn. She utterly adores the smell of fresh popcorn. Its the smell that just reminds her most of home, that makes her feel warm and comfortable. To her there is nothing better or stronger as a smell than that. ​

I LOOK UP TO:​

The person who Mazikeen looks up to most are her mothers. She is happy to have been brought into their family, and all the care and love they provide to her as well as their openness has given Maze a love for people and world. She respects them greatly, and wishes to grow up to be as caring as they are. She respects the work they put into their careers as well as finding the time for her. Shes never been made to feel unloved or that they didnt want to be her parents. Theyve always been open and comfortable in talking about things with maze that are difficult. She believes that she struck gold in landing with them, in being adopted into such a home and hopes that one day she could do the same for any child that might enter her life. ​

RELIGIOUS BELIEFS:​

None, both her parents being magical, and both from non religious families means that Mazikeen too is non religious. She learned about the muggle religions but none of them were particularly believable, so she was happy to continue not believing in any of it. She finds herself not being jealous of those who do believe, but she has met very few people who do, so this lack of jealousy could be due to her not knowing many. ​

Mazikeen is a bright and loving person, shes open with her heart and is always open with her emotions. She loves having fun, and shell create situations for herself or others to have fun. Shell never want to do anything that would actively hurt other people. Shes not an overly academic person, shell work hard and she enjoys potions and herbology but shes not the type to go out of her way to do work. Shes an active and energetic person, who loves having adventures but she is very much the type that will on occasion think before she does something, she wont just jump right into anything. Especially if she doesnt feel comfortable about it. She can often get jealous of others and what they have, but shell never be very vocal about it. She isnt the type to actively hate anyone, but if she doesnt like someone shell just actively ignore them instead. She is a friendly person, who loves animals and having fun. She doesnt like when friends betray each other, or talk behind one anothers backs. Shes got strong morals, and usually once shes made a decision about something or someone, shes not the type to backtrack. FIRST THOUGHTS:​

Mazikeen loved hogwarts from the moment she got to it, it was everything she had imagined it would be. She loved the way it was shaped, the people that surrounded her, the paintings, the stairs, the great hall. Mazikeen had read up about hogwarts a little but mostly she'd just heard about it's counter part and she had feared knowing more about that one that she would be disappointed by this one, but she was not. It was everything she had imagined it would be. ​

HOUSE: ​

Gryffindor​

THOUGHTS WHILE BEING SORTED​

Mazikeen was very nervous about being sorted, but she was also filled with excitement, she just wanted to get started, she just wanted to have fun. She was certainly glad when it didn't take that long at all and she was in Gryffindor with all those other people who looked to be as fun as she knew she was. ​

SORTING POST:​

Mazikeen was in disbelief, finally, this moment, this first moment of her magical life was upon her. She knew that for muggles the thought of going to school was something to dread, especially a first day, but knowing that she was going to be spending seven years having fun in a school that would teach her how to succeed at magic was just going to be amazing. Maze had spent the train ride, practically pacing up and down the train as her excitement boiled over and manifested itself in her being unable to sit down calmly for any length of time. It was a particular, since Mazikeen usually had no problem being calm and collected, but it seemed that the excitement of what was waiting for her at the end of the train journey and the fact she was in the train trumped all calm she could've had. The young witch was excited for this, she was eager, she was practically glowing with it. The girl had known that talking with others on the train might've made her feel better, calmer, but she just hadn't found it in herself. There would be plenty of other opportunities to make friends, she could make friends with all those with whom she was in a dorm with, in a house with. That was the most important and nerve wracking thing, being sorted. The young witch was now stood with the rest of her year as the hat sang his song and the sorting ceremony was getting underway. ​

Mazikeen had thought hard about where she wanted to end up, but in the end it didn't matter to her where she was, as long as she was able to grow as a witch, as long as she could have fun. She could do that in any of the houses, she was just keen to know where she would be able to do that. her parents had told her to go outside of the house, both of them had attended Hogwarts in Scotland and had pressed the importance of not allowing oneself to become bogged down in any of the house rivalries, since they were silly and Maze had to agree, she'd be friends with anyone who was willing to be her friend, she'd create fun wherever she might be. She just needed to be sorted, and it was taking really long. There were so many names before her, but it was enjoyable to watch as others before her were sorted, the young witch tried to put as many of the names to memory, but she knew there were too many. She just wanted it to be her name to be called, and finally, at long last it was called. Mazikeen stepped forward boldly, making her way confidently to the stool. She sat down and looked out at the great hall, a smile so clear on her face, wherever she would end up, it didn't matter, she would have fun. She would make the absolute most of these seven years in front of her, and she wouldn't live to regret any of it. As the hat was placed on her head she knew that this was going to be amazing.​

THOUGHTS DURING GRADUATION:​

Mazikeen was looking forward to graduation, she was looking forward to be able to carve her way in the world and just have fun. She was nervous about leaving school but not so much that she didn't want to leave. School had been such a huge part of her life and now it was ending. She enjoyed the ceremony itself, it was nice, the speeches were nice and everyone looked fancy. ​

GRADUATION POST:​

It was difficult to believe that this was actually here. She would be graduating. She had always half believed that this day wouldn’t come that she’d just be back year after year for school, but she wasn’t going to be. This was it. She was nervous about graduating, just the world that it opened for her, but she thought it was going to be good to get out there. She walked into the hall and had found her spot in amongst her peers. She glanced back to where she could easily spot her parents. She knew it would be good to have them here. There was no one else that she’d want here, or no one that easily sprung to mind, with limited invites she didn’t want to using them on others but her own family. Maze glanced back to the front. It was all so formal, she was dress so formal. The house decorations were all gone and she could guess that this was the beginning of them being entirely stripped back to functional adults who didn’t need a house. She thought it was funny that they started and ended school as devoid of their house that was so much of them while at it. She didn’t mind it. She’d never forget her gryffindor girls. She had made some life long friends amongst them. She’d always be grateful to them. The head mistress stepped forward first and introduced the invite, quickly followed by the head girl. She was listening along vaguely, thinking about what she might’ve said, what anyone else would’ve said. She wasn’t sure she would’ve put it as well as others did. ​

Mazikeen applauded for the speeches, feeling a strong kinship to the girl’s words than Zennon’s but really that was perhaps because she hadn’t known Zennon all that much. He hadn’t been in the same circles as her really. She didn’t think it was a huge loss and there wasn’t anything that could be done about it now, it was too late. If she got to know him now, it would come too after the speech. She looked to the professors who’d taught them and smiled, she’d missed most of them. She’d see Professor Summers over the coming weeks since she was determined to pick up shifts at the shop. Though she couldn’t wait to hang out with her parents as a fully legally and graduated witch, earning money and being able to move out was as soon as she could. Mazikeen watched as students before her began crossing the stage, she applauded for them, cheering loudly for Willow and for Athena. As they did so, and all too soon, her name was called. She stepped across the stage and accepted the diploma, thanking the headmistress with a wide smile. It was a moment over so quickly, she wondered if her sorting had been as quick as this had been. But that was it, she’d done it. All seven years. All of it, it was over. ​

BEST CLASS:​

Mazikeen loves care of magical creatures! it's her best class so far, and she loves everything to do with it. There's nothing about the class that she doesn't find enjoyable. She wants to work with animals when she leaves school, so she knows that's the class for her. It's the one she most looks forward to in every year.​

WORST CLASS:​

history of magic, though Maze knows that history is important but she cannot focus on that subject, she finds it near impossible. ​

DREAM JOB
Mazikeen has always wanted to be a zoo keeper. She doesn't which she works in but she'd loved to work at the one in New Zealand. She just thinks it would be the best job for her. She's wanted to do this since she joined the school and despite being ever increasingly interested in make up, she's never not wanted to work with animals.

PROFESSION
Currently Mazikeen doesn't have a profession, she has only just graduated and is happy to work in a shop for the moment.

SCHOOL EMPLOYMENT
Mazikeen got a part-time job at the Magical Menagerie during the break between Sixth and seventh year (Y36, 2051). She had been thinking it would be good to have some real experience before she apply to be a zookeeper after she graduates and to her this was the perfect thing.

THOUGHTS
Mazikeen loves working, she's always been the sort of person who thrives interacting with others, so this to her combines what she loves, working with animals and talking with people. She likes her boss too, though it's been a while since he taught her, she's always thought he was pretty great. Overall, she's just really pleased to have gotten the position and happy to be working.
