Natsuko didn't know many spells just yet. The school year had just begun for her, after all. That wasn't about to stop her though. She grabbed a massive pumpkin, stumbling a little as she put it on its side and tried to open up the top to scoop out the insides. She'd never really done this sort of thing before but she was doing her best. She got partway through scooping out the pumpkin when she stopped and looked around for another person to help. It was a lot of work, after all. "Anyone want to help me make a pumpkin boat?" she called out, looking around for anyone interested.

Hudson was excited to be outside and participate in an event with pumpkins. He didn't really like the taste of pumpkins, but carving and what not was always pretty fun. He happened to be near Natsuko when she asked for help making a pumpkin boat. "Do you think we can get it to actually float?" he asked curiously, picking up a scoop. "I'll help - you think it will hold two, or do you think we can only get enough out for one of us?"

Natsuko grinned brightly when someone responded. "Hmm, I think it'll work, right? If it doesn't, we can always get an adult to cast a spell or something." Natsuko was nothing if not optimistic. She thanked him for helping, then considered his question, looking down at the pumpkin. "We're pretty small, so I think we could both fit! But if we don't, I'll help you clear out your pumpkin too. It's only fair." Natsuko started scooping again. The mush of pumpkin pulp and seeds splattered onto the ground. "You ever done anything like this before?" Natsuko asked curiously. She wondered how 'normal' this might be - if wizards and witches often hollowed out pumpkins for activities.

Hudson nodded in agreement as Natsuko suggested magic would be helpful, because of course it would. But first they would try to clear it out with their hands. He grabbed a scoop and took turns with the Hufflepuff, grabbing some pumpkin out of the gourd. "No, but this is pretty cool. Have you?"

"Not really," Natsuko said. "One Halloween I made a jack-o-lantern. So I've emptied out a pumpkin before. Wondered if it was a cultural thing for witches and wizards to make pumpkin boats because I'd never heard of it before." The pumpkin's insides were emptying quicker with the two of them - Natsuko didn't think it'd be long before they could actually give the whole pumpkin boat thing a go.
