Kate walked on the grounds of Hogwarts. It was nice to be back and breath in the new Zealand air though it wasn't much different from home.Nothing exciting had happened over the summer and she had missed all her friends. She couldn't believe she was in her third year in Hogwarts her friends in Ireland would only be starting secondary school now.She wanted to find all her friends but for some reason she felt her feet guiding her towards the Rosebush. It was her favorite place in Hogwarts and she had missed it.She smiled when she felt the strange calm come over her when she entered it.Luckily she was the only one there. She took off her bag and laid it down beside the tree near the rosebush. She took a look up into the blue, clear sky before sitting down and closing her eyes.

Sorry its not that good!

It was just another dreary day for Jake, the day passed slowly, gradually droning out all his energy, he was tired, there was no doubt. Jake rubbed his eye, succumbing to the itchy fatigue in his eyes again as the sun blinded him. He disliked the sun, he hated the way it warmed everything up, that is to say that Jake liked the cold. He liked how it made him numb. Nevertheless, being numb is a poor distraction from sleepless nights and a increasing fear of socialising. Jake had originally thought the friends he had made would help him out of his antisocial rut, but alas, it didn't. His anxiety had grown worse as he was growing older, even he wasn't sure if it was a fault of his own. Jake snapped out of his daydreaming to see a familiar face, it was Kate. Jake smiled sheepishly and approached her, at least he could spend some of his time talking to her now, it would be a pleasant conversation and that was something he needed. "Fancy seeing you around here." Said the third year, noticing that whenever he saw Kate, it was always by chance, this amused him.

Kate was in a calm place. She hadn't really relaxed that much since coming here. She found her mind wi=andering towards her twin Sara. They weren't talking anymore and she wondered why. They had just sort of drifted apart she guessed, there was no other reason for it..not that Kate knew anyway. She found her thoughts interupted when she heard a familiar voice. She opened her eyes and smiled "Long time no see"She said grinning. She had missed Jake she hadn't seen him since the Yule Ball. She patted the space beside her "So how are you?"She asked smiling

As the Slytherin sat down next to his friend Kate, ran his pale hand through his messy jet black hair, his eyes scanning the environment, noticing how beautiful everything looked as it shone in the sun, this was something superior radiating from something he detested, at least the sun made everything look beautiful in it's glowing light. "I'm good, just stressed about some stuff, it's nothing major, yourself?" Asked the third year, reminiscing about how Kate was last year and silently hoping she was doing better this year, and even if she wasn't, Jake would help her through anything she needed. That's what friends were for and Jake wanted to be a good friend to Kate, she was somebody he could trust and most of all, she made him feel comfortable in his own skin, Jake thought Kate was a geat friend and losing that friendship would never be an option for him.

Kate smiled at Jake as he sat down. She had missed him lots and she wondered how he was doing. He was one of her best friends and she would hate to lose him for any reason.Kate's smile faltered somewhat when he said he was stressed about something. She wanted to know immediately but she knew that wasn't the way to go with Jake he would tell her if he needed to,but if it got worse she was intervene. "Not to bad, much better than last year but just feeling a small bit down over something"She said "Nothing major"She added quickly. In fact it was something quite major but it didn't really matter at the moment and she had a feeling it would never work out.Whatever happened between the two twins was something that couldn't be fixed and sadly Kate had excepted that.Suddenly a bright ray of sunlight penetrated through the trees and landed on the rosebush,it made it look spectacular and Kate was suddenly reminded of one morning in Ireland how she had been out in the garden and the exact same thing had happened.A sigh escaped her mouth before she could stop it.

Jake was continuing to stare into the distance, unintentionally zoning out, he hadn't had enough sleep yet again and he felt his insomnia crawling back to get him, he felt like he was going to doze off then and there , but he couldn't. He was talking to one of his closest friends and he wasn't going to ruin this conversation, talking to a friend like Kate was one of the only social things the third year could do without feeling deathly anxious, at least the was something he could look forward to. "Are you sure it isn't anything major?" Asked the Slytherin, reminding himself what he had really meant when he said that he was going through nothing major. Jake wasn't about to take Kate for granted. Once Kate had sighed, Jake turned to face her, he was going to focus on Kate now, that was what a friend was for. "Come on, now I know something was wrong. You can tell me, I'll keep it a secret if you like." Said Jake, attempting to come across as a caring friend, he wanted to make sure Kate was alright.

Kate kept on looking at the rosebush. She almost felt like she was at home.Even though she had been at home over the summer it hadn't been the same because of Sara. She wanted to go without Sara but she knew she couldn't do that because she couldn't go by herself.Kate looked down at her feet when Jake asked her a question. She didn't say anything because a)she didn't want to burden him and b)she didn't feel comfortable about it.She had only told one other person. But when she looked up and saw him looking at her.She gave in. "Well since the end of second year Sara and I have kind of drifted apart"She said her voice wobbiling. "I don't know how it happened but it just did and we can't speak civilly to each other and I think we never will talk again"She said one little tear trickiling down her cheak.

The third year Slytherin smiled as Kate looked at her feet, it was humbling for him to see somebody else show an antisocial habit he had picked up when he was younger, it made him realise how similar he and Kate were at times. They were very different people but every now and then, Jake would notice something about Kate that made him more comfortable around her. If that was possible for him. "Of course you two will talk again, you're family." Said the thirteen year old, attempting to comfort his friend. Jake didn't know much about having a brother or sister because he was an only child, but he did know that he was going to be a helpful friend to Kate. Jake rested his hand gently on Kate's shoulder, he didn't know if it would help but at least he was trying to make her feel a little better about her problems.

Kate smiled as he tried to comfort he.He was right they would probably speak to each other again but they would be forced by her parents.Things weren't very good in the Moon household since the beginning of summer.Sophie and Thomas Moon were at a lose to see both their daughters not speaking to each other. They also sensed that something had happened between the two that was never going to fix itself and to make matters worse both Star and Ryan had gone with Kate leaving Sara virtually on her own at home.Kate felt sorry for her parents, last year had not been a very good year for them both.First with Kate's eating and then with Kate and Sara.Kate knew they didn't know what to do.She had tried to explain it to them but they hadn't understood. Kate came out f her train of thought and looked up at Jake "How are you really?"She asked. She didn't know where the question had come from but she just wanted to know what was wrong with him.She had been such a lousy friend over the past year. She wanted to make it up and get things back to normal.

For as long as the third year could remember, he had avoided showing anybody who he really was, his friends didn't know and heaven forbid his family would find out, it wasn't such a loss for the people he considered to be close to him, he would rather suffer in silence and lull the people around him into a false sense of security than worry them further, they already had enough going on in their lives, especially Kate. So Jake avoided her question and with a casual wink he asked a question of his own to lighten the mood, change the subject, and take the heat off himself. "Do you remember when we first met and I told you I would take you back to Ireland someday?" Asked the pale adolescent, smiling warmly at his friend. In all honesty, Jake felt he needed a holiday, some time to just get away from the stress of everyday life and add some form of normality to his quirky lifestyle. The thought of having a holiday with a friend like Kate seemed like the perfect thing for him. "I was thinking, how about we go to Ireland at the end of the school year? I could sure use a break." He exclaimed, trying to sound excited about the trip which wasn't planned yet, Kate might have needed a break from everything too, from Jake's point of view, she certainly did but reading Kate wasn't something Jake was particularly good at. But then again, the ability to read most people was lost on Jake.

Kate was about to let out an exasperated sigh when he winked and changed the subject but then she became curious which was a really bad weakness of hers. "Yes"She said uncertainly.she remembered that day clearly. It had been a crazy meeting and she had enjoyed it greatly. The looks the other students had given them after were priceless but she was unsure what he was getting at.Then it hit her.Was he serious? She started asking herself those type of questions. Then he proposed his idea and Kate was stunned into silence for a few minutes before she jumped up and started shouting "Yes yes yes"at the top of her voice. She hugged Jake so tightly she wouldn't of been surprised if he couldn't breathe."I'd love to"She said her cheeks flushed after a few minutes of jumping. It was a total over reaction but she had been dreading the summer holidays because of the awkwardness at home. She was so excited to be going to Ireland with Jake,it was the perfect holiday. They could both just get away from it all.She wondered why he wanted to get away but she was to happy and distracted to ask."Wow,are you sure you want to go on a holiday with me?"She asked teasingly. There would be a lot of planning but Kate would worry about that later. She gave Jake another hug. "This will be so fun"She said clapping her hands. It would be great having something to look forward to.

The over excited reaction that Kate had made was of course unsettling for the thirteen year old, he had made the suggestion without thinking of how his friend would take it, this was a stupid decision. Luckily, Kate hadn't taken it in vain, and she had become so animated about the whole thing. This brought a wider smile onto Jake's face, at least now he had something to do that would take his mind off everything that was happening, it was all too stressful. Going on a break alone wouldn't be ideal and Jake wouldn't have bothered with a holiday if nobody was going to accompany him. But he now knew Kate would go with him, it would be a very fun trip indeed. "Um, okay, yeah, thanks." Is what came out of Jake's mouth as Kate suffocated him within a deathly tight hug. Truly, he wouldn't have minded a normal hug but this one was just too uncomfortable for the third year. The next hug wasn't so bad, as it seemed like Kate was starting to calm down from her initial outburst. "I was thinking we could meet up in London because we will both be there, then travel to Ireland." He said, looking at his feet again, it even surprised him that his friends were so tolerant of his annoying habits. No matter how excessive they were sometimes.

Kate was bursting with excitment but she had calmed down a lot since her initial outburst. This would be a great holiday though they had nothing planned. She wondered what brought it on but she would dwell on those questions later they had so much to plan.Kate laughed at his reaction to her outburst. He was taking it quite well. She could see that he was uncomfortable so she calmed down so more. She contemplated his idea "Yes sounds good.Though we will have to decide when we are going, where will we be staying and how long"Kate said her mind wondering. She wasn't sure if Jake wanted to start planning now but she thought maybe it would be better to get it over and done with. They obviously couldn't do must of the holiday planning she would have to get her mam to cheek things out. "Is your parents okay with this?"She asked. She was almost sure her parents would agree. They would probably get her to stay with one of her relations, she wondered would Jake mind that.she suddenly remembered her bag beside her.She luckily had a copy and pen in the bag.She took them out and opened the copy. "So any ideas?"She asked smiling.

Jake thought it amusing Kate had suddenly become so, professional about the whole thing, she had even gotten out stationery to write some ideas down, if it was up to him and him alone, he would just do what he felt like and let everything fall into place in front of him, but he was travelling with Kate, she knew what Ireland was like, having her organise everything was a logical decision on Jake's part. "My parent's won't notice that I'm gone. I think you should chose everything, you actually know what the country's like and all, I don't." said the Slytherin, he was more interested in what Kate wanted to do than his own intentions for travelling, which were to simply get away, that and letting Kate be able to see the country again.

Kate started writing things down.Like places to visit and sites to see. There of course were loads to do and Kate wasn't sure wether she should go to places that she hadn't been or go to places she had been before. She decided to mix it up.But she also didn't know what Jake wanted to do.But his comment brought her up short. His parents wouldn't notice? That worried Kate but she decided not to comment. She smiled instead "Well what kind of things do you like, because there's lots to do there.Like to you want to do some sightseeing or a relaxing one??"Kate asked places they could go flying through her head. She decided to ask her parents tonight about where they should go and how long. She was really looking forward to this and it kept her thinking about other things. "You know this means a lot"She said looking him in the eye.She knew only one or two other people would of done this and they either couldn't afford it or it just didn't come to mind. She suddenly started smiling because she was happy. This would keep her going through the winter holidays and hopefully the rest of the school years.

The Slytherin honestly had no idea of what he wanted to do in Ireland, he had asked out of the moment, studying up on the country came into his mind last. He had a guide like Kate joining him, she would know all the good places to visit, and Jake only really wanted to do what his friend preferred. "Kate, it's really up to you. But my one condition is that we have a few days to rest." Said the third year, having a holiday in a new country, away from his problems would surely enabled the thirteen year old to forget his stress, the hope of sleeping well again brought a miniscule smile to Jake's pale complexion. If the things causing his nightmares were his family, surely being away from them would make his dreams disappear. "I would do anything for a friend." Said the thirteen year old, it was hard for him to make friends so he was as loyal and trust worthy as possible to the friends he did have, including Kate.

Kate had a few sites in her head. There was lots to do in Ireland and she didn't even know what part they wanted to go to.She supposed they should go to the capitol and spend a few nights there and then go down to the South of Ireland which in her mind had the most sites.Kate smiled "Sure I'll ask for the best places"She said smiling. She would need a few days of rest as well maybe they could go to the Cliff House hotel in Ardmore? It was well known for its food and comfort and there was also a beach there.Kate had gone there many times when she was young and she loved it there. She wondered would there be any problem with money if his parents didn't know he was going "Will you be okay for money?"She asked biting her lip.Sometimes she forgot that people mightened have as much money as her but since Jake never talked about it she wasn't sure.

At the mention of money, Jake winced, he hadn't thought of that yet and he already knew asking his family wouldn't go well. "Um, well." Said the third year as he rubbed the back of his neck, a typical symbol of anxiety. "Not really. I hadn't actually thought about it at all yet." his tendency to look at his feet was making itself evident yet again as the Slytherin started to show more signs of nerves. Luckily, it was only money, it wasn't like a witch and wizard couldn't travel anywhere they wanted without any effort. It was a bit of a shame they were too young to use magic outside of school yet and they weren't old enough to apparate either. That would make their trip without a doubt easier on the two, most of the stress would be gone in fact.

Kate could see that money was a problem. She bit her lip as he spoke. She knew she had plenty of money and she thought about offering but she wasn't sure if he'd take it and if her parents would agree. If only they could apperate it would make things a lot easier. "If you want I could ask my parents?"She asked quietly hoping he wouldn't be offended. She had got grief over this before but she really wanted Jake and herself to go.They both needed it.

OOCOut of Character:
Sorry for the length.. :/

A holiday was what the Slytherin needed; obviously Kate needed to get away from the stress of school and well, everything else. Jake would consider them good friends and travelling together might give the thirteen year old enough courage to finally tell her what he had been hiding from everybody. "Would they be willing to pay for everything?" Asked the third year, he didn't want to be a bother to Kate's family. Being a burden was the last thing Jake wanted, that, and accidently revealing something he didn't want anybody to know. "I just don't want to be a hassle." Jake said, running a hand through his messy hair before handling a smile towards his friend.

Kate let out a breath she didn't know she had been holding. She was glad he was thinking of accepting some people would of just found it offensive. "Yup,as much s I hate to admit it we have lots and I mean lots of money"Kate said sadly. She did love the fact that they had lots of money but quite a few people judged her because of it.But she started cheering up a bit now that that was out of the way she could focus on other things. Kate smiled back "Don't worry, my parents are always willing to help one of their kids friends"She said putting a hand on his arm.She hoped he knew he could tell her anything no matter how bad and she hoped that's what came though in her little gesture.

Jake smiled at his friend again, he was so lucky to have met Kate. It was even an even bigger stroke of luck that she had offered to pay too. Although it was time for Jake to leave and get back to his common room. He silently wished he could stay and plan his trip with Kate longer, but he had other things to tend to also. The third year stood up, "I kind of have to go now." Said the thirteen year old, smiling down at his friend, he wasn't going to leave this conversation on a bad note like a few others in the past. "I'll see you again sometime so we can talk about this more, okay?" Said the Slytherin, as he gazed out into the distance, he wondered when that would be, but he knew it would have to be before their trip. It obviously needed to be sooner rather than later.
