Sapphire was enjoying being back in the castle. She was starting to like this place. She had a purpose today, though it was one that embarrassed her a bit. In her hands was a newly finished present. Her first one had been torn to shreds by a few bully boys back home, but being back at the castle again had given her the time and privacy she needed to fix it.

Turns out, that was the easy part. Sapphire had never given anyone a gift before, and she was surprisingly nervous about it. She lurked around a corner, watching the fourth floor corridor for her target. He had given her a few presents now and she was determined to return the favor.

She was so focused on watching the corridor she never heard anyone coming up behind her.

Maggy was headed back to her dorm room after stopping in to see her mom in the Astronomy tower, she was going to be taking her class this semester and was really excited. She knew her mom loved Astronomy a lot and teaching so it was perfect for her. Walking along she noticed someone ahead of her. "Hey there!" She said deciding to be friendly and introduce herself to the person sharing the corridor with her. She was also pretty sure it was a girl in her year which made introducing herself easier.

Sapphire jumped a mile high, spinning to face the girl that had spoken and hiding the hoodie behind her back. "Hi! Hey," she smiled too innocently. "I'm just passing through, what are you doing here? Are you a hufflepuff?" She nearly face palmed herself over how stupid she sounded. She cleared her throat and tried to sound more natural.

"You're in first year, aren't you?"

Maggy was surprised to see one of her classmates here on the corridor for her common room. She didn't know this girl very well, but maybe that might change now. "I'm a Hufflepuff yeah, we've had some classes together, you're Sllyyytherinnnn?" Maggy asked dragging out Slytherin with a questioning tone wondering if she had guess the girl's house correctly as she approached her. "Do you like the classes so far? I know some of them just seem so boring, I'd rather be anywhere else during History of Magic," Maggy said the characteristic of talking too much like her mother being obvious at that moment as she rambled on.

Sapph stuffed the hoodie into her bag behind her back, trying to be inconspicuous about it. "Slytherin? Oh, yeah, of course. I'm Sapphire. You?" She brushed a strand of ebony hair behind her ear. "I'm liking Potions and Transfiguration. I can't say I cared much for Astronomy. What about you?" Sapph glanced behind her, not sure if her target had already passed them by or not. She supposed it wasn't that big a deal, she could always track him down later.

She turned her attention back to the blond in front of her.

Maggy thought it was weird for a Slytherin to be lurking around her house's entrance and half wondered why the girl was up here, but didn't want to seem rude. The conversation they were having was nice and she decided to ignore the oddness of the girl and whatever it was she was doing behind her back. "Maggy!" She said replying back to the girl, "Nice to meet you Sapphire. That's such an interesting name! Mine's just Maggy, that's not even short for anything like Margaret or Magatha or Magg---, well it's not short for a cool name like yours is so cool," she said excitedly glad to have a person with such an interesting name. She knew it was some sort of gemstone name but she didn't remember what the color of a sapphire was but it was cool nonetheless. "Really? You don't like Astronomy?" Maggy asked surprised, she thought her mother's class was really interesting, it was fun to finally get to learn more about a subject her mother loved so much and see her passion about the course in class. "Potions is fun, it's interesting mixing things together, I'm afraid of making a mess doing it though," she replied.

Sapphire smiled a bit at the girls happy energy. "It's nice to meet you, Maggy." Sapph said with a grin. "And that's what makes potions fun- if you're not careful you'll turn your own hair purple. And Astronomy is more of a hit and miss class. Sometimes it's interesting, sometimes it's not." She winked playfully. All her distraction techniques were working today- her mind wasn't being cluttered up by unpleasant things.

"So," Sapph said conversationally, "Did you enjoy your break?"
