Kate was enjoying the school year so far.Things seemed to be going well.Kate wanted to enjoy this year and seventh year.IN every year so far something bad had happened. In first year she had been given the news that they were moving to England. She hadn't been very happy with that news as Ireland had been her home, the thought of possibly living anywhere but there seemed foreign to her. Then second year had brought all the drama between herself,Stefan,Sara and Willow. That was definitely one of the worst years. She remembered not being able to look at herself but she was disgusted as to how thin she was. Then she was getting angry and upset over Stefan and losing her friends and arguing.Third year had been filled with herself and Sara arguing and not speaking to one another, then at the end of the year she had started getting sick.Fourth year was stressful with her getting panic attacks, vomiting, getting sick again.Stefan not returning on time and then telling her things about his Dad.Then Rumor Has It had come out.Fifth year had started out pretty okay.Things had improved between herself and Sara and though things at home still weren't okay they were much better. But that all went down the drain when Stefan left, leaving her behind. That had been the final straw in a way.She had just broken down and had gotten angry but Sammy had helped her with that. She had grown immune to RHI by then. She just didn't care about what they wrote anymore. So Kate hoped just for once she could have a good year so she didn't have to look back at Hogwarts and say something bad had happened each year.If the last two years of school were good Kate would be happy. Those two years could make up for the five bad ones.

Finally after five, four years Kate could finally call Stefan her boyfriend. She remembered that time in first year how they had kissed on the bench outside Brightstone who knew such drama would follow on.It was hard to believe all the stuff they had gone through to get from there to here. She never knew that he would bring her so much sadness, anger and happiness. There had been plenty of times when she just wanted to give up on him or scream in frustration when he wouldn't tell her anything but she had remained stubborn for reason unknown to her.At the bottom of her heart she guessed she had always known that with patience things would work out.I she was just there for him when he needed it.Be a friend first and set her other feelings aside. And it turned out she had made a wise decision. All the pain had been worth it.She was now with one of the most important people in her life.He was everything to her,she loved him with all her heart and she was so happy they were finally together. She hadn't been this happy in months, years. It was wonderful.Only set back was that he wasn't in the school. He was still living it rough which she didn't like but he couldn't just come back and she had to respect his decision to live the way he was living, plus he had promised her that he would never leave her again. It gave her some comfort but she knew their were some things either of them couldn't be sure about. She just hoped it didn't come to that and for once life would be kind to the two of them. She just hoped Stefan's life became better. She was still wondering about the small first year Gryffindor she had met.It was too much of a coincidence for them not to be related. But Stefan had said he had no family and no one had come when his Dad had died so either neither of them ,Stefan and his maybe family knew of each others existance or they simply didn't care which Kate hoped wasn't true.It would be great if Stefan had a family. She had mentioned it in the letter. She wanted to let him know and maybe give him some hope that he did have a family.

Kate was making her way to the owlery. It was a long way up though Kate had often made visits to the North Tower which was right beside the owlery.Kate didn't really want to go to the North Tower again, every time she had been there something bad had happened so she tended to avoid it.She had wrote her letter to Stefan after she had finished her homework. They had promised to write and Kate was going to write to make sure he was okay and see how he was doing. She missed talking to him, missed being near him and having his arms around her but she was going to have to make do with writing to him which she didn't mind really. The weather was much nicer. They were coming into Spring,a season she particularly liked. It was just such a pretty season.Everything was growing and the grass was always at it's most green and snowdrops and bluebells were in bloom.Even though it came at the wrong time for her,she had gotten used to the fact it was Spring when she came back to school.Autumn was mostly associated with going back to school at home. She finally made it up to the owlery ,she had become fitter after training over the holidays for quidditch. She walked over to her owl,who was sleeping. She didn't want to wake Squishy up as she could be an irritable owl but she had some food for her.She gently tapped the owl and put out her hand with the food. For a few minutes Kate bet she was purposely ignoring her and she couldn't help the smile. But finally Squishy began eating the food and seemed awake. She read over her letter once more

Hey Stefan.

How are things going? I hope everything is alright well at least okay. The weather doesn't seem so cold so hopefully you aren't freezing.School is the same old same old. It's not as bad this year though because we have no exams. No action from Rumor Has It either though the year is young.
Nothing much has happened,it is only the beginning of the year though.I don't know if I told you but I'm co-captain for the quiddtich team.Hades Lutrov ,a year below is also co-captain.He's a bit scary and I doubt we'll get on but I'd say things will be okay

I really do hope things are okay.I really miss you,I wish you were here but I guess I'll have to wait till holidays.Anyways, please tell me if things aren't good and if you need any help you know I'm here.

Love,
Kate

PS.I met a boy,a first year called Tybalt Archer.Ring any bells?

She sighed and closed the letter and tied it to Squishy's leg. "You know where to go"She said to her owl before she flew off into the sky.Kate actually had no idea where Stefan was living but she believed that Squishy would find him.She watched her owl until she was a little dot in the sky.She then walked back down the stairs to the common room.

The school year had started. It was marked on his calender that he had managed to acquire. However the thought of not being at the school with his friend was leaving the teen with an emptiness. So much was different this time around. Everything was different. No longer at school, you'd think that he would just be happy, that the simplest way of life would make the boy happy, but it was really far from it. His life, the one he'd finally gotten control over was still a huge mess. There was nothing about it that would make most think that things were actually better. Sure, he was no longer fearing being beaten everyday, but his worries hadn't gone. He was a sixteen year old boy living alone, and barely getting enough to help him live. After everything he had gone through the boy was just somewhat hoping that this would mean everything would be okay. That he would live. That his worries about making it to the next day were gone, but that wasn't true. He was alone, he had no money, food was still very scarce. But, despite the lack of food, and the small emptiness inside him, the boy was happy. He really was. He had all he had really wanted, to feel loved and for this to not mean that the person hurt him. He felt as though he actually meant something. After all, he was pretty sure he did. He meant something to someone, and that was enough for him. He still felt pretty useless a lot of the time, but it was better now. It was a lot less clear that he felt the way he did. He was sure that he would mess this up with her, that he would do something that would completely destroy what they had, but he was hopeful. He was hopeful that she would be with him a long time. In his mind he knew that despite his situation, if she needed him, he would be there. He would try to find the courage to go back to school. Even though that was the last thing he wanted to do. All he really wanted was to do was get better, readjust his life and school wasn't the place to do that. Not for someone like him, it didn't mean however that he had completely discarded the idea of going back. Just that there and then was not the right time. He also feared what people would say and think about him if he did. The colour-blind teen however was still feeling a lot better than he would normally. Things were a lot easier for him like this. Easier in the sense of he wasn't constantly worrying about where he was going to sleep. He hadn't told anyone because he wanted the place as his own. It held everything important. His old home. It held everything. His entire life was spent between the four walls of that very house. So many truly horrible memories, but he'd had no where else to go and it was now an empty house.

It kept the elements and people away. It was the place he knew the most. It was his house. Slowly it was becoming a very odd home. He didn't stray much from the main room. Mostly because it was the room where the least had happened. The boy was tidying things up each day. When he didn't need to go out and get something to eat. The money that Kate had handed him, really would only stretch so far, and he was trying his best to ration what he had. It wasn't great. Stefan Archer wasn't really doing well. Having been caught in one too many rain showers without anything appropriate to wear the boy had come down with a pretty bad flu. His body was already weak. It didn't take much to make it worse. But, this hardly stopped him. He would still get up and do whatever he had to do. The boy had little choice. If he didn't, the house would stay a mess. If he just tried to sleep all day he would get worse. he needed food and to stay hydrated. He knew that his was not a good thing. He knew he should go see someone, but he had made a promise. He didn't want to break that promise. In the end he also knew it would be best. This time of year however always brought some wonders to the teen. What if? It was a game his mind liked to play, what if his mother had never died? What if his father had gone with his mother? What if his father had tried to kill him a lot younger? What if he hadn't gone to Hogwarts? What if the friends he had, hadn't kept telling him that his life was worth it. So many questions, and at times he knew that maybe things would've gone better. He was sure that if it hadn't been for him, all his friends would be a little better off. He had always thought that. His friends didn't, and never had needed him in the same way that he had needed them. But, he knew if it wasn't for all those things occurring, then he would've never met Kate. His girlfriend. The one person that he truly loved with the broken pieces of his heart. With her, things felt less hopeless. They felt less silly. He knew that no matter what he was still glad that they were together. He really did love her with all his heart. She was perfect. She was amazing. She was everything he had ever wanted, and the person who had kept him going through the darkest of times. He knew that he quite literally owed her his life. All the what ifs didn't matter because in his heart, he knew that if it hadn't been for Kate he would not still be alive. He had her to thank for that. The one person he knew that he could trust. The one person he had promised he would trust. He had promised.

There had been a promise of correspondence from him. There was one small problem with this. He didn't have an owl. He didn't have what he needed apart from a few scraps of paper, and an old pen. He hadn't managed to write anything so far. He had tried several times, but he didn't know what to say. How to tell her he was okay, when he wasn't. He had a roof over his head, and a large blanket, but he was still thin, he was currently sick. He knew that very soon he would run out of money, and rations would run down. He would end up with nothing. Then, he would have some real worries. Currently, it was just the flu wearing him down to a level he hated even thinking about. Thankfully the weather would start to improve, and so would he. It was an early morning, after he'd awoken from a pretty bad nightmare that the boy realised he wasn't alone. Sitting on the floor in front of the large sofa he was sitting on was an owl, he noticed the letter attached to his leg, and this just made him smile. The first real smile since he'd left Kate. Sure, he was pretty happy, but this didn't mean he smiled. He opened the letter and read. Smiling as he did so. He then sat up, and got the paper and pen. Finally with something in his mind about what to write about. He was so happy to hear from her. Writing a reply was simple in his mind.
Kate,

The weather is quite cold, isn't it? I think however, that it is getting better. I'm doing okay, a little under the weather, but it's nothing serious. Co-captain! That's amazing, it really is. I'm so proud, Kate. I really am. You deserve it so much. You are the best quidditch player I know. How did your exams go? The OWLs? How is everything? Seems like a lifetime ago I was at Hogwarts.
Tybalt Archer? Doesn't ring any bells. I mean Archer's a pretty common name, I'm sure. But, I wouldn't know. My dad, he never really spoke about his family. I asked, but he didn't like talking about it. Is he colour-blind?

Don't worry too much Kate, I'll let you know if I'm not doing okay. I promised you, and I promise you now. I miss you so much. I love you. Never forget that, I love you. Can't wait to see you during the holidays.

Stefan
As Stefan read back the letter he thought more about this Tybalt guy. Who was he, was he any connection to the Archer family. Was it just pure coincidence? If he had family going to New Zealand, why hadn't they found him? It left more questions in his brain than he wanted to know the answer to. The writing in the letter was shaky. His hands were shaking. The flu he had made it hard for him to really concentrate. That mixed with the fact that Stefan hadn't written in a while, and he had only gotten a little good at it before he'd left the school. Stefan closed the letter and attached it to the owl. He petted it as he tied it to it's leg. "I'm sorry, I don't have anything for you." He whispered as he stood up and went to the front door. Not wanting the owl to have to go through the broken window again. He opened up the door, told the owl to return to Kate, and then just watched it fly away. When it was no more than a dot in the sky, the teen closed the door and turned. His eyes drifted upstairs, maybe it was time to conquer his fear and look to see if there were any traces of his lost family.

Kate had always had a simple life. That was until she had met Stefan. That meeting had started off a chain of events leading up to this point. You never think that one simple meeting can change the course of your life.Sometimes it makes no change at all or maybe just a small one but then there are some people who will change your life forever.Stefan was definitely one of those people. She had been so oblivious of how much he would mean to her in time. She was surprised she hadn't realized the reason she had been so upset after he had been so cold to her.It had taken her a while to figure out.It hadn't been until fourth year that she had realized she loved him.It hadn't surprised her when she had realized. For a long time she had know but hadn't admitted it to herself and she also hadn't known if the feelings were returned but then he had asked her to the Yule Ball. She had at least had an inkling then and things had sort of progressed from there. Her fingers went to the necklace at her neck. They found the pendant and Kate smiled fondly at the memory. That had been in a way their first official date and he had given her his mother's necklace to remember him by.It was so sweet and she always wore it.It gave her comfort when she was sad or when she missed him.It always brought a smile to her face even in the darkest of moments.Kate had never thought that someone would affect her life so much, she couldn't be any more glad that he had come into her life. She never regretted that he had come into her life no matter how much pain had been caused. He made her too happy and she knew that things would get better and that hopefully the worst was over.Things could hopefully only get better for the two well that's how Kate had to think.Thinking negative thoughts would get her no where, you could only be positive about life.

It was almost scary how much Kate would do for Stefan. She loved him with all her heart and she would do anything for him.It was funny to think that if worse came to worse she would even die for him.It was a pretty powerful thing to say but Kate knew it was true. And she didn't make the decision lightly.Decisions like that didn't come to anyone lightly but Kate hadn't even had to think about it much, she just knew that she would. There were only a few people that she knew that she could say she would lay her life down for.Kate had a few close friends, she didn't have many not close friends. She couldn't even think of any people who weren't close to her.She had a few close friends, some of them didn't even know each other.Kate didn't know what she would have done with out friends. They had helped her out of the dark places she had gone to and had just been there to comfort her.She hadn't seen some of them in a while. She had seen Sapphire over the holidays but she hadn't seen Tara or Sammy in ages.Star said she had met Sammy over the holidays. It was funny watching how she looked when she talked about him.Made her wonder how she really felt about him.Maybe she was just over reacting and thinking too hard about it but what ever way she felt it was lovely to see Star really smiling again. She had really come out of her shell. She had even joined the Ravenclaw quidditch team which was a huge surprise to her.Kate had never known she had an interest in quidditch, sure she had practiced with her but she never thought she had a real interest .She wondered would she be playing against her two sisters. She wouldn't really be interacting with Sara but it would be interesting with Star as they both knew all their moves. But they might not even be playing against each other.

Kate was reading a book in the common room.It was a book recently sent by her parents. It was called Dreamless a sequel to Starcrossed.Kate was engrossed in the book, she couldn't help it.If any sort of book was good she got totally into it and usually ignored the rest of the world unintentionally. It was because of this she didn't hear her owl tapping at the small window in the common room.It wasn't until another student tapped her on the shoulder that she realized it.She folded down the corner of the page and closed the book. She walked over and opened the window letting the owl in.She felt a lot of student's eyes on her but she ignored them.Guiding Squishy onto her arm she made her way up to her dorm. There she had some food, paper a pen and lots more privacy then the common room. She opened the letter and began to read.Kate frowned at the first few words but soon the frown turned to a smile. She loved it when ever he told her he loved her.It was almost music to her ears. After she had finished reading she tore a page from her copy and began to write

Stefan,

Well as long as you are getting better, that's all that matters.Thank you,you have no idea how much that means to me.The exams were fine,I'm happy with my results and I did the best that I could which is all anyone could ask for.Hogwarts is grand, there have been a few more issues of Rumor Has It but none so far this year. It's all really old news though, nothing new has been written about me so I'm not worried about the next one.Yeah it seems like that too,it's almost a year since you left. You see he is colour-blind and well I do see a resemblence. There are a lot of arrows pointing in the direction that ye are some how related. If I see him again I'll ask more.

I believe you but I hate knowing you are out there alone.I wish there was more that I could do.If you ever need some money only ask and I'll send it.I love you too,it's a pain not being able to see you but I'm looking forward to the holidays.

Mind yourself,
Love,
Kate

P.S. I learnt that glasses help colorblindness a lot

When she was finished she folded up the letter and walked over to squishy who was happily eating the food.Kate smiled and stroked her affectionately. She would give her a rest next time. She tied the letter around her leg and guided her over to the window which she opened.Squishy flew out and Kate watched her till she was a tiny dot in the sky before closing the window and walking back down to the common room.

The days were getting longer, and warm. The times of the days were easy to decipher for the former slytherin. He didn't actually spend all his time doing things around the house. It was pretty monotonous for him to do such a thing. He never knew what to do half way through the day if he chose to just tidy. Sure, there were many parts of the house that were still a jumbled mess, but things had gotten better for him. In a sense that he had set up camp in the living room. The thin mattress from his bedroom, with the blanket that the very lovely Lefeys had given him. It was warmer than he had ever been before at his own home. It was a huge improvement than how things had been before. It was easy to think that just because the monster's in his life were gone that things were easier, but it wasn't true. Each day he woke up nightmares that plagued his mind. Days were worse than others, and he was still having days when all he could do was curl up in bed and just lie there all day. He had bad days. Not the kind of bad days were things weren't going right, but days when no matter how hard he tried he wouldn't be able to stop thinking about what had happened. A specific memory that sent his mind racing, that made his heart his hammer. Days were bad, but to balance this, he did have some good days too. It was getting more and more often. Which made him feel pretty good about things. He was feeling better about everything because of the days where he felt better about things. When he felt like his mind was on his side. It happened less often than he liked, but more often that he could ever hope it would. That being said, he was still struggling everyday with the much simpler things of food, the house seemed to be linked up to a water supply, because there was always that. But, there was no electricity. He also had a very serious lack of food. The closest muggle town was a little more than an hours walk. And he went when he was truly out of food. He got the biggest thing he could, that was cheap and would last long. His diet wasn't exactly the best, but it was better than it had sometimes been with his father. At least he knew what he was eating. There was no guessing, or just forcing it down no matter how bad he could make it out to be, or how bad it smelled. More often than not, he just chose to eat it, because no matter how it would taste, he needed it. His father had somehow always managed to give him enough to keep him alive, but weak. The only time he hadn't been like that was at Hogwarts. Oddly enough, despite his fears about the school. It sounded more and more appealing to return to the school.

The thought of school, was something else. Stefan Archer had taken a leap since he'd last written to Kate. He'd gone upstairs. He'd gone into his father's room, and the study. Place's he'd never been allowed. He needed to find out if it was possible that he had family. Family, who maybe just didn't know he existed. Who had never looked past the fact that his parents were, well, whatever had happened. There was a lot of stuff. A lot of paper work, a lot of things that it took him a few reads before he understood all of it. The search had been pretty fruitless He'd so far only come across bills that showed his families dwindling money. They hadn't ever started out with much, but that was really nothing new to the young boy. He was yet to find any evidence of anything about some other family. Some extended family that had kids. One thing that the current pile he had in front of him had was pictures. They didn't move, not like magical ones, they were still. He found one of his mother and his father, clearly before he'd been born, since they were both happy, and he didn't recognize where they were. Stefan had pretty much come to the conclusion that people could say they wanted about how much he matter, how he wasn't a waste of the air he was using, but one thing was for sure, he destroyed his parent's life. If he hadn't been born, they might've grown up, had a much better life, produced a much happier family. He wondered why his luck had chosen him to destroy the lives of two people who were meant to care for him, and that he was meant to love. Overall, his search had turned up very little. Just that both his parents had been happy without him. It wasn't new to him, but he'd always hoped that it wasn't true. That it was one of the things that his father had said but that had been a lie. It wasn't, and it made the teen feel so much worse than before. It was why, when he realised that there was an owl at the window of the living room, that he half didn't want to go over to it. Stefan knew he couldn't lie to Kate. He didn't want to lie to her. The former slytherin, did however also know that he couldn't not. She would be worried if he didn't reply. He stood up and went over to the owl. letting it enter before going back to his make shift bed in the centre of the room. He wondered what he could say to her. Stefan loved her, he wanted to let her in. No more lies, just trust. But he also didn't want her worrying about him. She didn't deserve that. She really didn't. He wanted to be the perfect boyfriend, but he knew he failed in so many ways. However, after quickly reading the letter the boy took his own writing equipment and a spare bit of paper.

Kate,

I am glad you did well, I'm proud of you. Not matter what, I'm proud of you. I'm also glad there are seemingly no more issues with that paper. Its not a good thing. It had no right to say those things about you. But, if things are quiet for now, then all is good. Keep me up-to date on that front. I'm thinking of going back to Hogwarts. Maybe for seventh year. You know for the final year. But, I have a few things I want to sort out here. But, I'd love to spend all my year with you, and not so far, worrying if you are okay.
I've been having some off days, and I'd love to just be able to see you and talk to you, but we can't do that.
If I did come back, I'd have so much catching up to do. I've missed so much work.

I've been looking, I went back home, it's an empty house now, so, nothing to fear. But, I've been going through what is left of my dad's stuff. And, I've come up with nothing yet. Just bank stuff, electricity bills. And currently a box of photos. They are pictures of my dad and some girl, who I think is my mother, but you know, I never met her, so I don't know. I don't recognize the house in the background, of the picture. So, it'll take some time before I find anything. If I do, I'll send it to you, and you can show it to the boy.
Glasses? I had a pair, when I was a lot young, but they broke, and my dad didn't think I was worth the money for a new pair. So, I always knew they helped.

I'm doing okay, with money and that. I'm good at stretching things and going without. Thanks though. I seriously don't know what I'd do without you Kate. I love you so much.
Stay safe, write to me, if you ever just need to tell someone something.

Take care, Love

Stefan

<SIZE size="50"><FONT font="tahoma">Stefan smiled as he read back through the letter, he closed up the letter and attached it to the owl. He picked the owl and stroked it lightly. He felt like it was a little of Kate with him. He missed Kate more than anything else. He opened the main door, and let the owl fly away. Watching it until it became a small dot in the sky. He smiled to himself, thinking of Kate, thinking of her smile and everything else about her that he loved. Closing the door behind him, this day that hadn't been a great day, had completely turned around.

It was a couple of days since Kate had received Stefan's last letter. She had wanted to reply straight away but Squishy hadn't been in a good state. She had been tired and it had been raining so she had been wet and cold and hungry.Even if Kate had tried her owl would have refused to go which was completely understandable. So Kate went into Brightstone the next day and got special treats for her owl and had left her rest for the past few days, making sure she was comfortable. Kate had written her letter over that period of time. She liked reading over the two letters sent to her by Stefan. It was nice just to read them because she felt even a bit closer to him when she read them. Usually when she read them her hand would touch her heart pendant necklace. It was she never took off. Over the past two years it had helped her think of the happy memories between the two. That in turn had made her feel better when she was upset. It was nice to have something that you knew would always cheer you up. Even when she was upset last year it had still made her feel better because the night he had given it to her had been a special one. Kate knew that if she were pessimistic she could see that everything had gone from after that night.Stefan hadn't returned after the holidays and just a whole lot of other things had happened. She had also been sick and thin that night. But why look at the bad things when under all that the night had been special and lovely. It was one of her cherished moments and she wouldn't let anyone taint it with pessimistic views. Life was too short to look at the bad side of life. If things were tough you could only hope that things would get better. Every cloud has a silver lining was what she lived by and would continue to live by. She had gone through a whole lot of crap but all that was over now, well at least she hoped the worst was over. Things can only get better after hitting rock bottom.

Kate had just finished her breakfast at the Hufflepuff common room.Soon the hall would be covered in Halloween decorations. The school was already buzzing for Halloween. The feast was always fun and it was interesting to see all the costumes. This year Kate had decided to go as a doll. The dress had arrived last week and when she had tried it she had felt like a little girl again. It was all fluffy and puffy and when she had tied her hair up in two pig tails and added the make up she had definitely looked the part and she was looking forward to wearing it.She always loved the Halloween feast, there was only one year she hadn't enjoyed it and that had not been a good Halloween. Lots of things had been said that night, things she had chosen to forget. She felt bad for what had happened to Willow. She had ignored her own problems and focused on them instead which hadn't been good for her at all.Kate hoped that Willow was better and that she would stop being so selfless and focus on herself for a while and not her friends and family. That night had just ended in disaster and it wasn't a night she liked thinking about so instead she thought of other Halloweens. The last couple except for last year had been pretty fun and she had enjoyed hanging out with a group of friends. She didn't seem to have a group of friends now,she was only close friends with a couple of people who she didn't think knew each other except for Tara and Sapphire. But Kate hadn't talked to Tara in months, she had met someone last week. Charlotte was a girl she hadn't seen since second year. A lot of things had happened since then but Kate would like to get to know her better. She even said she would try to get her father to invite her to parties. It would be nice to actually know someone and be able to talk to someone instead of talking to boring adults.

Finally she arrived at the owlery. Squishy was waiting for her and flew over and landed on her arm.Kate smiled and gave her some nuts. She ate them happily and flew over and landed on the windowsill. Kate walked over to her and sat down on the ledge, she opened the letter once more

Stefan,

Thank you,it's really nice to hear and know that.I'm really proud of you too,I think it's great that you have believed that life will get better after all these years. I'm proud of you that you kept going and didn't give up. It had no right to say those things about you either. It seems very popular among some students. I bet issue five will be out any day. I doubt there will be anything on me as they have been saying the same stuff in the last few issues. That's great that you might be coming back,I'd love to spend the last year of school with you. Some off days? as long as there aren't too many I guess I won't worry too much. I trust you to tell me if things are really bad. Don't worry about me,I'm grand. Take care of yourself! Don' worry I can help you catch up if you like. I'd be glad to help.

Well,I'm sure you will find something. Maybe if you send me the picture I can show it to Tybalt and see if he recognizes you mum or Dad or even the house. Now at least you know what your mum looks like,I'm sure you will find something. Is there maybe an attic somewhere in your house? Your Dad could have put things there. You wouldn't let me get you a pair, would you?

I love you too Stefan,so much. Don't worry you'll be the first person I come to. But make sure you remember that too,k!

Mind yourself,
Love,
Kate

Kate smiled the whole way through the letter. Her heart almost swelled inside her chest. She loved him so much and hated how things were at the moment. But compared to some other times, this was good. There was communication between the two and they were both being honest to each other. She turned and tied the letter to Squishy. Her owl then set off to a whereabouts unknown to Kate. But her owl knew and while she watched her fly away she someone felt as if Squishy brought them together.Once Kate could no longer see her,she went back to the castle, smiling the whole way down

It had been a while since Stefan had found the time to write to his girlfriend. He hadn't meant for that to happen. it just had. Since living on his own, in a place that wasn't exactly much of a home, he had found it difficult to keep a real track of time. All he really knew was that they were very slowly leaving the winter behind and heading back into summer. The months of the year that he actually liked. But, this didn't mean that things would be better. He was doing a lot around his home. It was a fairly run down place, and overall just messy. He had spent a long time just dealing with the fact that the house held too many bad memories for him to just be able to fit right back in, but it was the best that he had, and he wanted to find out as much as he could about his family. It wasn't hard to imagine why he would want to do that. His home was the only tie he had with his family. The only connection that could actually lead for a home for him. He wasn't about to give that up because of the memories it held. After all, Stefan had ways of coping. He was finally able to get at some other clothes. All the ones he had at home. Well, all wasn't exact much, but before he'd only had the two sets of clothing and it had been for close to a year. Now he had four, so it was to him a definite improvement. He was just happy to have a little more than before. The real problem was however that in all of this he lost track of other things. Like remembering to tell the girl he loved that he was still around. That he was living to see the next week. It was hard to tell at times. Mostly because he was so hungry all of the time. Most of his food had run low. He was eating a little something every so often. But he had plans to go into the local muggle town and attempt to sell some of his belongings. Some of the stuff not broken that lay around the house. He would then use the money to get food. Kate didn't need to know about how hard it had been. She didn't need to know that he had scraps to eat, and each day was difficult. Like before there were days when Stefan Archer couldn't even muster up the strength to get himself out of bed. The days followed good days and they were followed by awful days. He knew that if he told Kate about them, that she would worry more, and he really didn't want that. He didn't want her to worry about him. Not in the slightest. He knew that she would be he was sort of hoping that she wouldn't too much. Stefan was however very aware that even here in his houe, he worried about her, and she was in school.

The morning he woke up, he noticed the owl sitting not too far from him. It didn't have a new letter, he'd had the previous letter for a while. He just said to the owl that he would write soon. He didn't really know how long it had been, but the owl was back. He was feeling pretty good. He very easily found her letter, and then took some scrap of blank paper. He had spent a lot of time going through his father's belongings, and it had turned up a few interesting points. One, that how his mother had died had actually been a lie. And where his family were from. It had been an odd discovery, a little visa form that state the country of origin. It had surprised him. It was then easier for him to understand why his family or possible extended family had never been able to contact him. Because he hadn't been in the same place. It would be difficult to find a person, if they weren't in the same country and had never spoken since. Stefan didn't know why his father hadn't just gotten in contact with these people. What had happened between them? Stefan got up from where he had been sitting and began to search for his pen. The one he had been using over the past time, just to be able to write to Kate. Under the small amount of messy he had created in the main room it was fairly hard to find, even more so with his eyesight but there was really no telling how easy it would be to actually find it.He searched for a little while and then stumbled upon it as he moved more of his stuff out of the way. Stefan picked up the pen and then walked back over to where he had been writing the letter. It was difficult for him to write to Kate. He wanted to be honest with her, he needed to be honest with her, but there was just somethings he could ever write about in a letter without her getting too worried. However, he knew that he needed to say everything that he could say in a letter that she did want to know. He smiled slightly to himself, reading over her letter again. To think she had written that. He had a very small part of her. That made him smile. It made him happy. She was the light in his otherwise pitch black life. He owed her everything.

Kate,

I hope things are well, that you are doing well. Quidditch is around this time of year, isn't it? I hope that issue 5 isn't out yet. I really dislike that paper. And it had no right to say any of those things. With the specific intention of hurting people. It's just not nice.
There are not many off days, but, like you said, I believe that life will get better, and I'm having much fewer off days now, than ever before. Just some days, the memories of my dad, and the foster family are just. You know, too much. But, don't worry. I'll be alright. It's over now. My dad and the foster family are both gone. I have you and I have my life.

I did a lot more looking since I last wrote. There is a lot to go through here. I found out that my family weren't from New Zealand. They were from America. The two of them. They moved when they were 16/17. But, in all the phone bills I can find, they haven't made any calls to the U.S. I put in the picture I was talking about before. I'm now positive the girl in it, is my mother, but it's the only picture I've found of her at this point. But, they look pretty young. See what he says about it.
I couldn't ask that of you Kate. I love you, but I'll be okay, glass at this point would be useful, but I'm doing fine without. And I will come to you. I promise, the next time I'm having a bad day, I'll just write to you. But, over the past few days I've been good.

I love you so much,
Stefan

<SIZE size="50">Stefan reread the letter a few times, then placed the photo in with it, and the put it into a make shift envelop that was a little bigger than it needed to be. Stefan tied the letter to the owls foot and then lead it to the door. He couldn't wait to hear from her again. He was just very hopeful that she was alright. That she was doing okay. Just like he was. Stefan watched as the bird took off and flew into the distance.

Kate was still sore from the Quidditch match. It was three days since the game had taken place but Kate was far from being fully healed yet. The nurse had done a great job. Her ankle was healed though she couldn't walk on it properly yet. She had cracked a few bones in her shoulder but they were all fixed. Sadly she had two giant bruises. One of her ankle and one of her shoulder. Since it was summer and much warmer she was also wearing shorts and t-shirts which meant everyone got a lovely view of them. She could feel the stares. They were fairly bad looking bruises but she didn't think they were that bad. She limped around the school. She couldn't put the full amount of weight on her foot,if she did a shot of pain would go through her whole left side. She looked funny, limping around the place and she knew some people thought she was exaggerating the pain but really she couldn't walk.It was annoying because she couldn't run either. She was down to limping or hopping. When she was in a rush she looked like a right idiot, hopping as fast as she could to her class. Since her right shoulder was the one damaged, her standard of writing had gone down considerably. She couldn't write with her right hand, she had to use her left and she had never once needed to use her left hand before so needless to say her writing was a complete mess. She could feel the glares from some of the Professors when she handed up her homework and they saw her writing. But what did they expect her to do? She couldn't move her shoulder with out it feeling as if there were sharp pins and needles in her shoulder. In the muggle world she would have cast on her foot and she would have some sort of a sling on her shoulder. She wasn't sure how she would be able to walk as her ankle wouldn't heal for at least six to seven weeks though her shoulder would take up to around two weeks. Thankfully the magical world had some kick ass medicines and potions that had speed up the recovery time to around a week for everything to be back to normal.

Kate limped into the Great Hall and sat down at the Hufflepuff table. There weren't many people in the hall and Kate liked the almost quietness of the place. It was so much nicer now then it was when the place was full. Kate felt a pang of loneliness. She missed Stefan. A lot. She wanted to see him again and hold him close but she was going to have to wait for the Christmas holidays for that. She hadn't heard from him in a while which worried her but she had to calm herself as getting too worried set off a chain of events ending with her getting a panic attack. That was something she never wanted to experience again, for as long as she lived. They were horrible things and it was mostly after the attack which was the worst. It brought back terrible memories too. Ones she would prefer to forget. Kate;s fingers started twirling the heart pendant around her neck. She did it without thinking but the minute her fingers touched the heart she began thinking of the happy memories between herself and Stefan. These memories made her smile. Even though he was somewhere else on the island, a long way from her. he was still able to make her smile through the memories of him. She was looking forward to talking to him. She always eagerly awaited his letters. They were a small part of him that she kept close to her.It made her smile every time she read them. She loved him so much and she just wanted him to be happy. She wanted them to enjoy their time together as a couple. She hoped it would last a long time.Kate came out of her thoughts when she heard and felt her tummy rumbling. Alright, alright she said to it. At first she attempted to eat some cereal but since her shoulder was particularly bad today she had to use her left hand and most of the cereal ended up everywhere but in her mouth. She moved to toast which was a lot more successful. Strawberry yogurt proved a success also. Even though once or twice she nearly managed to burn herself, the tea went down well too.She was about to leave the hall when she heard the screech of an owl. She looked up and smiled when she saw Squishy circling above her head. Kate put out her good arm and Squishy landed.

She walked out of the hall and slowly rubbed her owl as she walked up the stairs.Once she was in her dorm she set Squishy down. She awkwardly managed to untie the letter from around Squishy's leg. Carefully she opened the make shift envelope and took out the contents.THe first was a picture. Kate looked at it and smiled sadly. They were obviously Stefan's parents. The looked young and happy. Kate wondered what had happened that had changed everything. Laying the picture down beside her on her bed she opened the letter and began to read. He had made quite a few discoveries. Kate would have to find Tybalt soon and tell him everything. She located a oage of paper and a pen and wrote her reply.

Stefan,

We just had our first quidditch match three days ago. We didn't win but we played brilliantly. We were caught out by the snitch in the end. I managed to break my ankle and get a nasty hit to the shoulder. Personally I think the two Slytherin beaters had it in for me but after I was hit in the ankle and then made Keeper I was an easy target. But don't worry with the help of the nurse,I'm mostly healed up. The disadvantage of being skinny is you get injured much more easily, the bruises will fade though.
No it's not nice and I can't wait for the day we find out who is writing it.
That's good, I'm happy to hear that. You can only look forward. If you are ever feeling down you know what to do. And don't mind the time. If it happens during the night still write to me.

Really? That's where Tybalt is from. He's from Georgia. It's a Southern State in America.I'll definitely show him the picture. It's a nice one of your parents. I'll try and get it back to you as soon as possible.
I love you too as always. I won't forget about the glasses either. But if you don't want me to get them I'll respect that decision. I know, I trust that you will.I hope things stay good and hopefully things will get better.

Love you lots,
Kate

Folding up the letter when she was finished. She fed Squishy and gave her some water. Kate then let her rest. In the evening time she came back up to the dorm and was happy to see Squishy was awake and looked eager to be flying once more. She tied the letter on and gave her a few more treats before opening the window and watching her soar into the sky. Kate smiled holding Stefan's letter and picture close to her chest.

Days passed without much worry, things were slow to say the least. But, progress was steady. Working towards what he needed for his life. There was little doubt in the former slytherin's mind about what he would be doing in the following year. His life had fallen into some odd pattern of repetition, one, he could see himself doing in school. One, that he didn't mind. His life had been a series on painful circles he ran around. His father, school, the foster family, being alone. His life was more settled now than it had ever been before. Considering his current day to day like, most would no see it as very settled. However, one thing Stefan Archer had always been good at was adapting. Changing, bottling things up, pretending he was more than okay, when he really was everything but. His life had taught him, that no good came from accepting people straight away, that telling people did anything. He didn't worry about that now. He was alone, and for the first time he wasn't constantly worried. He worried, it was his nature, but he wasn't worried to the point he could feel himself shaking. This past year, from the time he'd turned 16 until now, had been eventful. It had been tricky, and it had left him wishing things he didn't like thinking of, but it was over. He woke up most days feeling better, feeling like this would be the better tomorrow he'd been hoping for his entire life. Something he knew that he had to eventually get. There was no way, that after a few bad hands, a good one wouldn't appear. All he really needed was something better than what he'd been getting over the past few years. And really this wasn't asking for much. Archer knew that things would get better. He had a better life now. He knew he was so much more likely to get to his next birthday, to see the ages he had once thought impossible. Almost seventeen. The legal wizarding age. He was ready to go back to school. But, he didn't want to tell anyone. Really he had no one to tell. Kate was the only person he had any contact with really. Kate was the thing in his life that he was truly in awe over. She was perfect in his eyes. And beautiful. She was kind and honest, and more or less everything that Stefan had wanted from all the people in his life.

That morning, he was awake long before the sunrise. He slept more, but there were those days that he just couldn't sleep. He tossed and turned, eventually falling into uneasy sleep that awoke him minutes later. He'd had one of those nights. He had been keeping a hold of Kate's owl since her last letter. He had yet to reply, but his mind had been else where. One of the people he had helped before the holidays, had returned the favour. And instead of badly boarded up windows, at least in this one room, none of the windows were blocked out. Sure, most of the glass was old, and had small cracks, but he could at least just see out of them. The person who had helped him, had been kind, an older man, retired, and hadn't been bothered by the fact Stefan had never left the room to let him work, but had always kept a pretty large distance between the two. He hadn't asked anything about his situation, just mumbled something about knowing. It had been odd, but, Stefan wouldn't complain. The entire room was brighter than before, and Stefan had taken, to just sitting at the window, while he worked. Reading over the school books he had, practicing to write, and just going throw the mounds of paper his father had gathered. But, since it had been one of those nights, Stefan sat in front of one of the windows, in an old chair from the kitchen. A wooden thing, that looked ready to break apart. It wouldn't. Stefan could attest to the sound structure the kitchen chairs were. His mind was in a different place. He was think of their Christmas, how perfect it had been. To him, and to hopefully her. Thinking of that day made him smile so easily. Something that was a little abnormal. Stefan then knew that he had to write to her. He had to. Smiling to himself, he grabbed a spare bit of unmarked paper, and the only pen he had left for now that worked. He was at a loss really over what to say, but he was sure that he'd find something. Kate was his girlfriend after all, and he loved her with all his heart. With what was left of his shattered heart.
Kate,

I'm sorry it has taken me this long to reply. Things are quiet on this end. Which is nice. Some old man helped me with replacing some of the windows in the house. So it'll be alright come the winter.
I'm sorry to say that I haven't found much. Any information about my family is long gone. Or just deeply buried, and I can't search very much. This house holds so much. I just..
I hope things are good at school. That you aren't being bothered too much. Classes, I hope are good.
I miss you. Though we only spent a few days together, I miss having you with me. I was thinking of it this morning. Of our Christmas, and Kate, I swear, I've never smiled so much.
I love you,
Take care,

Stefan
Once he finished, the boy made a make shift envelope and put the letter in. He smiled at the bird, and let it out via the door. Stefan watched from the living room window as the bird flew off into the distance. He glanced down at his hand, and just smiled. He could feel her beside him, the way she smelled, and how she seemed to fit with him. Stefan would hold true to his promise, He loved her, and he never wanted to let her go.

The term had been relatively quiet for Kate. She had been practicing quidditch mostly and just enjoying school life. She was busy with school. Classes were a lot harder and she was trying to keep up with all the work being thrown at her from the Professors. She was still managing to wake up late most mornings. She always ended up staying up late whether it was reading or doing homework. She had no phone for her alarm so she had to rely on her body clock and maybe the noise around her to wake her up. But usually she is so tired these days that she doesn't wake up. She kept on meaning to ask Tara to give her a nudge in the morning because she hated the stress of trying to get to class and usually it meant skipping breakfast and trying to shove something quickly down the back of her throat. She was sure it was the same for a lot of people in the school except she didn't like missing meals, she was as thin as she was and she didn't plan on losing weight. She was as light as a feather and looked like she could break in two but after a lot of exercise she was quite fit these days. A lot fitter then what she ever was before and she was feeling a lot better about herself and she felt a lot healthier. She was generally feeling a lot better about most things these days. School wasn't too bad, she was very happy in the love department and happy with her friends too. She hadn't spoken or seen some in a while which worried her a bit but she was sure she would bump into them in time. She was so busy with other things that she actually really wouldn't have a lot of time to talk to her friends. Over the summer she had decided to take on a new sport. It was a GAA one, a sport she had never played in her local club in Ireland. She had actually found it in england even though it was an Irish sport, it has become very popular and Kate had decided to give it a go and it turned out she had a knack for it so she had decided to practice in the school.

All in all Kate's life was truly at it's best. She had never been this happy about everything in so long. It was nice not having to worry about so many negative things and actually feel positive about life. One thing she was really happy about was Stefan. They had spent an amazing Christmas together. She had just smiled so much and enjoyed herself so much. It had been one of the best Christmas' she had ever experienced. It had been lovely just spending some quality time with her boyfriend, the person she loved. Needless to say she missed him terribly. She always did when she was at school but it was nice to know that he was okay where he was. It had been hard in fifth year not knowing where he was or even if he was alive. It hadn't helped her stress levels and things just hadn't gone well in fifth year. She had just always been worried but she had made some good friends out of it. Now though Kate knew where he was and that he was relatively safe. Because they didn't see each other much, whenever they did it was always extra special. She hadn't seen him in four months and she couldn't wait to see him again, she was awaiting his reply to her letter. She had sent it some time ago but she knew he probably had a reason for not replying. She had not managed to find Tybalt yet but she had gathered her information and she just needed to find him and then things would hopefully get going.

She was currently in the common room, the wind was howling outside and the rain was banging against the windows of the Hufflepuff common room but Kate was nice and snug in her bed in the dormitory. She practicing lumos without actually saying the spell. It was much harder then it looked but Kate was getting better and the light in the dormitory turned on even though she made no sound. Kate smiled, she had now turned on the light , six times consecutively so Kate was sure she was okay for tonight. Her thoughts were interrupted by a tapping on her window. She looked up and saw her poor owl out in the wind and rain. She quickly brought her in, closing the window quickly afterwards. Squishy looked terrible and tied to her leg was a soaked letter. Kate winced and quickly gave her owl some nuts and water and let her rest while she tried to make sense of the letter. Once she had the letter under the light it was easier to read and thankfully the ink hadn't run too much. She smiled as she read the letter, she was glad the windows had been fixed up and she thanked the man silently for being so kind to do so. Her smiled widened as she read about their Christmas together. Her heart warmed at his words and the memories. She got herself a piece of paper and pen and began to write.

Stefan,

Don't worry, things have been busy here with lots of homework and quidditch practice. That's great, how nice of him! I hope it's a lot warmer now.
Well, I still have to find Tybalt to show him the picture and tell him the other things I know. I'll see what he says to what we have now and hopefully things will progress from there. I get what you mean, don't worry about it too much!
They're grand, nothing new really. There was another issue of the magazine but I think it's lost it's touch, it came up with some ridiculous and untrue stories. Apparently I'm as big as a small whale. Oh well, I couldn't care less about what RHI comes up with. Classes are good, we are doing non-verbal magic which is hard but I think I'm getting the hang of it. If you ever want to catch on any of the work, I'm ready to help.
I miss you too, I can't wait to see you again. It's been so long since I've seen you. I loved spending Christmas with you. I had a lovely time and it was amazing spending it with you. I love you.
Mind yourself,

Kate

<FONT font="Georgia">Once she was satisfied with her letter, she put it in an envelope and left it on he rbed side locker. No way was she sending out her Owl in that weather again. The next morning after her first class she went to her room and tied the letter to Squishy she then opened the window and let her out. She watched Squishy until she disappeared.

Decisions had to be made now. The winter had always going to be cold. A part of him had just not realised how cold it was going to be. He had prepared himself. Trying to fix the gaps in the windows, in the doors, getting all the layers he could to try to stay warm, but it hadn't really been enough. Sure, he had been somewhat warm, but it wasn't enough to keep the frost from being on the inside of his windows. Or for the roof to leak, or for the wind to rock the house. Everything was just a little bit horrible. It was his first winter within the house, without his father. It was horrible, but it was still better than it had been with his father. When he had first arrived at the house, it had been winter, but the difference was that he had more money, and more food. This time around, Stefan Archer had a lot less of that. It was just that money, as it always did, ran out. He was tired, and he had been constantly getting a little sick. He was a lot weaker than before. Though, he still felt better off. He was loved. And that mattered so much more than he had ever imagined it could. After all, it was the first time, he had ever truly felt loved. And for a now, seventeen year old wizard, that was fairly surprising. It had taken him so long to come to terms with the idea of being loved, of knowing what love felt inside of him. But, it had happened. He was loved, and he was in love. Two concepts that the teen had never imagined he would ever get to say. He was as surprised to know that this love wasn't going away. He truly did love Kate, and it hadn't faded. She still appeared to love him. That also hadn't faded. He was just happy, it made him happy. Which was a little odd, considering his situation. But this was him better off. He had come to terms with Kate, apologised and promised. He had spent the most amazing Christmas with her. Something that kept replaying in his mind each day. The joy he felt about it, was something he couldn't even put into words. In these cold dark nights, he was just glad to still be around, to have made it this far. He couldn't really ask for much more in his eyes. He had so much more than he had ever thought he would ever get. Stefan sighed to himself. The letter Kate had sent a while back had gone unreplied as of yet. Mostly due to the fact that his last pen had run out. Which was an awful excuse, but the right one. Every so often her owl would turn up and he would have nothing to give it. But, this day was different. He missed her so much that, that he searched high and low. He searched everywhere. In the desperate hope of finding one. Even maybe a quill, ink and parchment. Just something to write with, to write to the girl he truly loved.

That morning had been an odd morning. He had awoken later than planned, shaking a lot. He had during the night thrown off the countless blankets and had been lying in just his clothes. These were not made for cold weather. Stefan wondered how he could've possibly done such a thing in his sleep. He had just thought it would be easy enough to just get cold during the night and pick them back up, but Stefan had been sleeping more and more. With less and less to eat, the only thing to do was sleep. Preserve what little energy he had left within him. He began searching, when he glanced to his hand, and his mind cast back to that Christmas. The way she had slept next to him, how he had held her in his arms. The way she had smiled at him, and how a perfect Christmas they had spent. Nothing could be better. Nothing was ever going to be better than it. He knew this for a fact. Well, that wasn't too true, but Stefan was much more of a, take every day as it comes. He very rarely thought of the bigger picture. Today, however he was thinking of it. The moment he thought of Kate, he remember all the time in the school. How much easier did school appear to him to be now. It would be simple. Easy. Surely. Maybe not the classes. He wouldn't be able to do too many considering he had missed about on 5th, and 6th year. But, he had no other real options. He had to graduate, he had decide what his next move was. He had to get a job, and for that he needed one in the magical world. They would ask a lot less questions. Though, apart from his usual incredibly thin frame, Stefan looked a lot more normal than before. He was just taller, and scarred. But that was it. Finally, after searching in places he really hated being in, the boy found an old pencil, that was a little blunt, but would have to do. He wandered back to the living room, and quickly found the letter. He picked it up off the ground where it had been sitting and read it back through. He wondered if she had found that other boy, shown him that picture. Stefan was suddenly nervous about what it could mean. If the boy knew it or didn't know it. He didn't want to get his hopes up, the likelihood in his mind of them being related was slim to none. he was however a little hopeful. Stefan had a lot more hope than he like to admit to. People took advantage of that kind of thing. Stefan found a bit of paper and began to write his reply, though his hand shook slightly as he wrote. Making the words on the page appear shaky too. It wouldn't be the easiest to read, but it was enough.
Kate,

I have only recently found something to write with. I'll be honest, my supplies of just about everything are a little low. But, nothing you need to worry about.
I hope school is still okay! Non-verbal magic sounds hard, but useful. Really wish I was there with you. To celebrate your birthday and all that.
RHI, really has lost it's touch, you are most definitely not a small whale. Far from it. You are beautiful.
The boy, Tybalt might not know of it. That picture is old. I found it tucked away, and I think it's a lot older than me. Hopefully not too much. That wouldn't be good. A trail that leads to nowhere. It would be nice to have some family. Some good people I can call family.
I was thinking of seeing if I could go back to Hogwarts. I know it might not work, but I don't think I can take it much more I want to try. There is no harm in trying.
I love you Kate. So much.
Take care,
Stefan
Stefan signed the letter and then folded it, placing it within an old and worn envelope. He had to wait until the next day, when the owl turned up at his window. And this time around he was glad to have something to send to her. He attached the letter on to the owl's leg and then watched it fly off. Now more determined to go back to school.

Kate was worried about Stefan. It was coming to the coldest time of the year and one of the toughest for people who lived in a house with no heating. She was planning on sending him some more money. Even if he had enough she would like him to have some extra in case of an emergency. She wanted to not worry. She hoped he came back to school next year. She missed seeing him around the place. It had been months since she had seen him and she really missed him. Christmas had been so special. She had never had such a special Christmas before. Just lying in his arms had been magical. She missed that feeling but hopefully she would see him soon. She had done pretty well in her exams. She had passed her apparation too which she was excited about. She was able to use magic outside school now as well which made life a lot easier in some senses. It would be weird and Kate wondered would it really make a big change in her life. For the past seventeen years she had lived at home like a muggle. Sure she had flown on her broom but magic hadn't really made a big impact on her home life. She doubted it would still as all the staff in the house were muggles and she wasn't going to risk them seeing her doing magic. She was going to practice her apparation. Her house and grounds were huge so she had plenty of places to practice. It would be funny because Ryan and Star would be jealous. Things had been improving in the Moon household. They all got a long now which was a big steep forward. The hadn't had a proper family dinner since before Hogwarts which was sad really but now they could. Kate was sort of excited to be going home. She wanted to spend some quality time with her family. She was looking forward to spending time with Stefan but she had been neglecting her family for a while and she wanted to patch things up.

She had been waiting some time for Stefan's reply. She hoped he was okay she wasn't sure what she would do with herself if something was wrong. At least she knew where he was and if there was no reply for some time she knew where to go but she really hoped it didn't come to that. She loved Stefan and she couldn't imagine what life would be like without him around. She had been packing her bags, there was quite a few of them. She would be leaving tomorrow and she couldn't wait to get home. For once she actually didn't pack away her wand like she had done for the past five years. She put it in her pocket and then zipped up the last bag. The End of Year feast would be taking place tonight. Unfortunately Hufflepuff hadn't won the House Cup and they had come last in the Quidditch. It would take Kate some time to forgive her team for not showing up. It was almost embarrassing they had had to forfeit. At least Kate had gotten over that but forgiving the team would take some time. This year had been the most uneventful, thankfully. Rumor Has It had lost it's touch which was a relief because she didn't have to worry about it anymore. Plus from the doctors reports everything was normal in her adrenal glands which was good. Things were good with her friends and Stefan which meant there was nothing bad in her life. Other then quidditch and injuring herself quite badly before the Yule Ball , this year by far had been the best year ever in Hogwarts. She had even made progress with Stefan's family tree. It turned out Tybalt had recognized the man in the picture. Apparently he was his uncle who had never seen and who had died apparently some time ago. That wasn't true, he had only died two years ago. She couldn't wait to tell Stefan about it all.

She was piling her bags into a corner when she heard a tap on her window. She went to the window and saw her owl outside. She quikcly let her in and untied the letter,. She smiled as she read it, her heart swelling. She really did love this boy, she had felt nothing but for a long time. Her feelings had never changed. She quickly dug out a pen and found some paper

Stefan,

Well, I've sent you some money, just in case. I'll send you this pen also, you're writing is quite hard to read!
School is finished tomorrow. This year has definitely been the least stressful. I've actually quite enjoyed my time in Hogwarts for once. Classes have been quite interesting too , I did pretty well in the exams. Well I'm happy anyways. I didn't make a bigdeal out of it. I just got some close friends and had a little birthday cake. There's always next year.
I just wanna kiss you for saying that. I miss you so much. I can't wait to see you.
Great news in regards to Tybalt! He recognized your dad. He said his grandad has the exact same picture at home. Strange thing in his grandfather and family said that your dad Mason, died eighteen years ago. Apparently they never talk about him, they won't talk about him. Something strange there. But yeah, that's the information I got. I think Tybalt is your cousin Stefan. I'll talk to him more about it so I can give you more information!
That's great, I miss you during the year. Life will be so much easier if you graduate too.!
I love you Stefan. Mind yourself!
Kate

Once she was finished, she folded the letter. She got some money out of her purse and put the letter, the pen and money into an envelope. She tied it to Squishy's leg and gave her some nuts before sending her on her way.
