Letters Home

[Jordan Trace Vanderhol]

Jordan took the long walk up the stairs to the owlery. He had his pad of paper and quill pen in hand ready to send a letter to his new parents. He hadn't spent much time with them before he had to leave for school which was tough for him, considering he was still wondering about them and who they were and what they liked. But prehaps letters would be easier to find things out. Sitting down in one of the windows that lined the stairs he began his letter, and once finished he attached it to the waiting bird and sent it off on it's way.

Spoiler: Letter to Parents

Dear Mom and Dad,
I got into Hufflepuff. I don't know if they tell you this studd or not, but I've settled into the house nicely. The common room is really comfortable and everyone is agreeable. I think I've made one friend, she's a gryffindor so I don't really see her that much but I met her when I was in the student lounge. I decided History of Magic and Flying are what I'm going to be focusing on. I know my sisters fly, right? I'm actually not even sure how many I have or if they both fly.

Oh right, I met Lola the other day in the courtyard. She's really nice for being so much older then me. And she plays guitar like I do which is exciting! I hope I didn't make her angry at all by interupting her practicing but I think she's super cool.

Do you know if I joined a quidditch team after school if my sister(s) would still be playing? It'd be cool to be on the same team as them. Plus flying seems really cool I don't know if that's what I want to do. I hope music stays in my life to, ya know?

Thinking on the documents he got from his parents he remembered he had an uncle or cousin of somesorts that wasn't eligable to take care of him but was the only real family member left. He thought it would be nice to owl him as well and set forth writing a letter to the person who he didn't even know at all.

Dear Brock,
I'm not sure if you ever met me but I'm Jordan Trace Vanderhol. I was recently adopted into the Vanderhol family but my orignal name is Smith of Michael and Katrina who were you related too. I Don't have any family from them left that I know of besides you so I thought that now I'm at Hogwarts New Zealand I should try to get in touch with you, as the orphanage people wouldn't allow me.

[Cystine Vanderhol]

Cystine had just gotten home and was about to start dinner when she saw an owl fly up to the kitchen window. It was Lavender or Squiggles so she knew that it wasn't a letter from either of her girls so the woman was a bit confused. She opened the window and took the letter from the bird, handing over a few bread crumbs for it to munch on. When she opened up the small piece of parchment she got a few tears in her eyes when she read the opening line. "Mom and dad," she read it again out loud to herself and grinned. Cystine read the remainder of the letter and then carefully folded it back up, placing it on the counter for Steven to read when he got home. She grabbed a blank piece of parchment and a quill and then sat down to pen a response to her son.

Hello my handsome boy,

Sorry, it's just every time I write to your sisters I always start with 'Hello my beautiful girls' and I didn't really think that would fit here so I went with something else. So a Hufflepuff, eh? Very good. As long as you're not a sneaky little Slytherin. Only kidding of course. Your oldest sister's boyfriend was a Slytherin. I'm glad to hear that you are settling in well. So you've made a friend that's a Gryffindor? That's terrific. You know both your sisters were in that house as were your dad and I.

Both of your sisters do fly. Kat and Rena both play quidditch for the Wimbourne Wasps. Kat's a chaser and Serena plays beater. I'm glad that you like flying. I'm sure both girls would love to fly with you when you come home for the holidays. History of Magic was never really my strong suit, but it's a good thing that you took such an interest in it.

Oh I'm so glad you met your cousin. Isn't she lovely. You two definitely have so much in common as far as music goes. She'll be here over the holidays as well so hopefully you two can entertain us for a bit.

I'll let you get back to your studies and your friends. Please write back soon and I'll have your father write you as soon as he gets home.

We miss you and can't wait to see you.

Cystine smiled as she finished up the letter to Jordan and sent it off to her boy at school.

 

[Jordan Trace Vanderhol]

Jordan was walking from his last class of the day back to his dorm when the owl approached him from above. Holding his arm out he took the letter and told the owl he was sorry not to have a treat for it. He waited till he was back in his dorm before opening the letter. Looking over it after he finished reading he smiled he already had something in common with his sisters. And his cousin was really nice to him.

Mom,

It's fine with me. I really enjoy Hufflepuff, plus I don't have to walk to the top of the castle everyday! Who is the oldest of them? I don't think you ever mentioned if it was Kat or Serena.

I think it's cool they get along enough to be on the same team. Some siblings here seem to hate each other! So you think they'll want to fly with me? Maybe they'll give me some heads up and help me prepare for auditions next year for the team. I don't feel confident enough to ask if I can audition this year.

Maybe Lola and I will work on a song to perform over Holidays then, that'd be really cool. I happened across her when she was playing and began to play with her, she said I'm really good!

I better use my ink here to work on my homework,
