Letters from Home..

Larissa had received a letter from her step-father via the morning post.
She did not wish to have others nosing in on it and so had gone to the owlery with Ted sitting comfortably on her left shoulder where she opened the letter.
Larissa planned to reply once she had read the letter but as her eyes scanned the parchment, she felt weak kneed.

Dear Larissa,
There are many things I have to tell you in this letter, the first being that your mother and I have moved house.
It's a nice place so don't worry. You'll see what it's like should you come home for the Christmas holidays.
And now I must tell you the news which cuts into me like a dagger..
Your mother knows that I am an active Death Eater; she found out last night and I had to spend that night at a neighbor's house- Artie is a wizard so it was a little awkward having to hide the mark from him.

Hope all is well and wish to know more about the Quidditch tryouts and exams.

Larissa stared at the letter and almost immediately took out her quill, some black ink and a piece of parchment.
Ted shifted about on Larissa's shoulder a little impatiently as she wrote back.

Grakul,
are you alright? Has mum told anyone yet or is it safe?
Please tell me how things go.
I can't wait for the holidays, I've missed you so much.
Mum doesn't write to me anymore- She hasn't since my first year.
Do you think she hates me?

Quidditch tryouts went okay, I made alternative again.. I must be a terrible player. Oh well.
I should be playing in the upcoming match against Gryffindor with any luck.
Exams are early December I think so I really should get my head down and study.
I'm doing okay with Ancient Runes although it is a little dull.. I'll discuss with you after Christmas what options I should take in my third year.

She tucked the letter neatly into an envelope and handed it to Ted.
"Deliver that as quickly as possible.. They've changed address now so you might have to.. I don't know."
Larissa shrugged, stroked Ted's feathers and watched him fly away, the letter in his beak.
"Good luck." Larissa breathed, turning and walking from the owlery to the Quidditch Pitch.

Cynthia wrote a quick letter and sent it to Larissa at the school, hopefully she would get the letter and follow it so that she could write another expose on the Kingsley, Potter Love story that was definitely still fresh in the eyes of the wizarding world.

Dear Larissa,

Good afternoon, I trust you are doing well. I have a favor to ask of you and I must insist that you do so, otherwise our friendship might have to take a hit and I know both of us would hate to see that happen. I have strong suspicions that James Potter has gotten Kiera Kingsley pregnant though she really doesn't know who the father of her baby is! So they are trying to hide it. I need you to find out from Kingsley if it's true but in the meantime I want you to spread the gossip all across the school but don't let anyone find out it came from you. I'm going to write the article and I may even mention you as a source!

Larissa had made a habit of checking the Owlery to see if she had any post.
Her step-father had not written to her in a month and she was beginning to wonder if he was okay..
However, Larissa found herself distracted from these thoughts once she found a letter..

"What the.." She muttered, picking up the letter addressed to her and carefully opening it.
Larissa read over the letter.
It was from Cynthia Vandervoot, the woman she had met and agreed to help..
Had she made the right choice? Larissa had pretty much cornered herself on this one and she knew she'd have to do what Cynthia wanted.
She pocketed the letter and trudged back up to the castle.. She needed to find a way to spread this.. And she had a feeling she knew how to..
