The Basics
Character's Name: Ekaterina Nikolaevna Ivanova.
Ekaterina (which she always spells without the E) is derived from the Greek for 'pure' (originally 'torture', but now more commonly seen as 'pure'). The patronymic, Nikolaevna, comes from her father's name, Nikolai. Ivanova is the feminine form of the family name, Ivanov.

Hometown: Saint Petersberg, Russian Federation.
Blood Status: Mixed-blood.

Hair: Brown, with hints of red and blonde.

Style: Katerina always makes sure to present herself well, especially for work, usually choosing to wear business-like clothes under her work robes, such as skirts, blouses and jackets, with court shoes. Outside of work, however, she usually dresses casually - but elegantly at the same time, wearing jeans or nice skirts with plain sweaters or t-shirts. One could almost call her sense of style boring, really. She doesn't follow fashion, she just makes sure she looks well presented.
Other Distinguishing Features: Her time at Durmstrang and living with familial expectations has left her with a slight icy veneer. She is not quick to smile (she's warmer than she was when she attended Durmstrang, however) - but when she does smile or laugh, you know she really means it. She may look unapproachable, because of her business-like attire and her usually solemn facial expression, but she really is kind and friendly to those she deems worthy.

Personality: At Durmstrang, Katerina was known as the 'Ice Queen'. As the first daughter of Nikolai Ivanov, a man who quite probably thinks too highly of his family name, Katerina was pushed to succeed. Luckily, she is naturally intelligent, so success wasn't too difficult for her. What was harder, however, was social interaction. She was not an only child, having a younger brother, Sergei, but she still found it difficult to relate to strangers when she was pushed so hard to succeed by her father. She was too absorbed in books and studying to bother with talking to others. (Sergei, on the other hand, is quite friendly and willing to talk to anyone, but that is a different matter). She's calculating and logical, choosing to sit back and think a problem through before attacking it. If she'd attended Hogwarts, she would have been a Ravenclaw, without a doubt. She's not the most open person, but to those who she deems worthy of friendship, she is quite warm, witty, and friendly. Most people only see the 'Ice Queen', however.
Special Talents/Abilities: None. She's just pretty good at Charms and Transfiguration, particuarly the former.
History: Katerina was born on the 31st of October (Halloween), 2004, in Saint Petersberg, Russian Federation - the place where she would spend most of her early life (when she wasn't with her muggle relatives in the south of France, or later at school). In 2007, Katerina's younger brother, Sergei, was born, and he was pressured almost as much, if not more, than Katerina (for Sergei would be the one to carry on the family name). Aside from the familial pressure to honour the Ivanov family name and excel at school (Durmstrang, naturally - all Ivanovs went to Durmstrang, even though Katerina's mother went to Beauxbatons), Katerina and Sergei had a pretty comfortable early life. They were well looked after, lived quite comfortably, and while they mostly kept to themselves, they did not want for company.
Katerina was sent off to Beauxbatons first, and she found it very difficult to fit in. Durmstrang has never been considered a friendly and welcoming place. Not only that, but Katerina's naturally 'icy' demeanor and social awkwardities meant that she found it difficult to talk to anyone, let alone make friends. But a certain group of bullies discovered how fragile Katerina really was, and though she tried not to let them get to her, they worked out how to. Katerina's early Durmstrang life became a hell. If it wasn't for classes and the rare friends she made, she wouldn't have survived. Her teachers respected her at least, because she did so well at her schoolwork and excelled in subjects like Charms and Transfiguration.
In fourth year, she actually opened up to someone enough for a relationship (Nicolae Kobori) - however that ended on bad terms, with her reputation of the Ice Queen really being made known in the aftermath.
In her fifth year, she was chosen to spend the year at Hogwarts New Zealand for the TriWizard Tournament. Unfortunatly, she was stuck with her ex boyfriend, and was not chosen as champion. She still managed to make a couple of friends, and even entered in to a happier relationship (with Yvan Petrov), one that lasted until she was nineteen.
Katerina graduated Durmstrang with excellent results, particuarly in her favoured subjects, and she and Yvan decided to make the move to New Zealand together, a place that held many happy memories for her. She soon took up a job with the Ministry, in the Committee on Experimental Charms. Sadly, early in 2024, she and Yvan decided that their relationship was not working, so they went their seperate ways. Katerina stayed in New Zealand and continued her work with the Ministry, and that is where she is now.

He is highly regarded in the Russian Ministry, second only to the Minister, and pushes his children to be the best they can be (focusing particuarly on Sergei, because he is the male). He cares deeply about his family, although he appears quite stern and severe and harsh. That is just how he is - he had the same pride and values drilled in to him by his own father. Except he paid a lot more attention than Katerina and Sergei have.
- Mother: Nathalie Ivanova - a muggle-born witch from the south of France, who met her husband after she graduated Beauxbatons (they were travelling around Europe and met in a cafe in Italy, funnily enough). She is a lot more sympatheic than Nikolai, and more laid-back. She was determined for Katerina to attend Beauxbatons, but Nikolai won out. She loves her husband and children very much, more obviously than Nikolai, because of her sweet, gentle nature.
- Brother: Sergei Ivanov - sixth year Durmstrang prefect. Sweet and gentle, like his mother, but has his father's pride and courage. Adored by the whole family (he's the youngest, it stands to reason), and looks up to his big sister a lot. Currently in France for the TriWizard Tournament.
