This is 100% true and, as I have been told that the paper is snapping pictures, I will try and get some of those pictures onto here to accompany this story.
My mum relayed this to me as I'm not at home.
Some of you may know that today is votin' day for the UK. Well, my mum (who works at a horse rescue centre which also takes in other large animals, i.e, cows, sheep, pig and the odd pheasant) was at work today. It was supposed to be a very normal day of feeding, cleaning, e.t.c. However, this was not the case: Two pigs, Apple and Blossom, received a reminder through the post that they needed to pay their T.V license. Now, I know what you're probably thinking; England. That's what they do, isn't it? In England, pigs watch the telly.. Well, that's not strictly true. These pigs don't even have a T.V (which means they can't watch all this dreary election coverage on EVERY SINGLE CHANNEL). If this wasn't enough, the pigs also received polling cards so they can vote. Fair enough. So, the woman in charge took the pigs to the polling station to vote and let them stand there, munching food and waiting to vote.
As it turns out, Apple and Blossom didn't get to vote but they got their pictures in the paper and all the various political parties tried to get as much attention around the pigs as possible.
I think (especially as I've lost a lot of faith in humanity) that it's a good idea for animals to vote. And pigs are smart so *shrug* I say, let 'em vote. A few more pigs in government will do little harm.
Let me know what you think about this.
As I say, pics to come a.s.a.p.
