January was born in Ireland to her parents Wesley and Sabrina who met while attending Hogwarts Scotland. After they finished school they lived in London for a while so Sabrina could pursue an acting career in the theater. She comes from a long line of actors and grew up in her family's theater company herself. But when she got pregnant she decided to retire to the country and live on Wesley's family farm to raise their children. January grew up surrounded by her fraternal grandparents, her aunts, and cousin Bellamy. Eventually she was joined by her younger sister June.
Growing up she had all the attention she could ask for and liked to be involved with the adults and whatever they were doing. But her favorite pastime was spending time with her father who was a bit of an amateur astronomer, and they would stay up late looking at the stars. January and her sister were mostly homeschooled by their mother but sometimes spent time with local kids, including putting on plays that their mother would direct. But her idyllic childhood came to an abrupt end when her parents made the decision to move to New Zealand to be closer to her mother's family. January has had to put on a brave face and not make a fuss during the whole thing.
