Knotted 14 Inch Unyielding Mahogany Wand with Kelpie Hair Core
Full Name:
Jameson Marcus Abshire

Date of Birth:
October 14th, 2006

Current Age:
31

Basic Appearance:
Jameson, being of English heritage, is a somewhat short man who stands 5'7 on a good day. Moderate curls of brown hair adorn his head and he sports a thin beard with hints of brownish red in his mustache. His hair is normally kept on the shorter side, never reaching more than four inches long if he can help it, and his beard is well trimmed and always groomed. His eyes are hazel and possess flecks of green and are set farther apart than the average man's. This, in addition to his furrowed brows, give him a look that can described as one of deep thought or just as easily, one of mild confusion.

Though not a thin man he maintains his health well and his slightly rotund belly can be attributed to the abundance of whiskey in his diet. His hands are callused and thick, developing a hard layer of skin after years of working outdoors and boxing. His legs are short and solid, not built to run but built to stand and work for long hours, and equally so are his arms.

Being near-sighted he often wear glasses when not in his home, but prefers to leave them off when possible. A noticeable trait of Jameson's is that his back is slightly curved forward, being born with arthritis and scoliosis as was his mother and many of their ancestors.

Typically he can be seen wearing robes of black or brown with subtle hints of green threaded through the cuffs and collar, and a matching waistcoat beneath the robe. He is also rather fond of tall boots of embossed leather, frequently wearing them while outdoors, though while home he prefers a good pair of sheep's wool slippers. Rarely does he wear a hat, but he has been known to don a walking cap for certain occasions. He wears a number of rings, two of them gold and inherited from his grandfather (one of which bears a large ornate "A" on it) and three he bought for himself. He wears his grandfather's rings on his left hand, one on the little and the other on his middle finger, while the three rings he bought he wears on the middle, ring, and little fingers of his right hand.

His fingernails are short and chipped the overwhelming majority of the time, due to his habit of biting them while hiking and the occasional mishap while building.

Personality:
Jameson can be described as a lone man, but his isolation is by his own choice, yet he is rarely content with this. A man of swift anger and abrupt words, he has found that he struggles to keep friends close and maintain friendships, and having now moved to New Zealand he has lost touch with many whom he called friend in England. A man educated through books and practice, he is knowledgeable about many subjects and quite learned in a rare few, putting them to use in his own life when he can. This came about due to his personal resolve to educate himself after a poor performance at Hogwarts.

Having learned from his experiences at Hogwarts, he is driven to a fault, pursuing his passions and his work far beyond the average, leaving him exhausted many nights and driving a wedge between him and his former coworkers. While working for the Ministry, his fellow Magical Law Enforcement officers would usually go out after work for ale and whiskey, but he only joined them a few times due to working late many nights. He left that department of the Ministry after his health had begun to decline due to the long hours spent there that replaced sleep on many a night. Though he is no longer as driven, at least not to the point of declining health, he still maintains an aggressive and vigorous working attitude.

His morals are strict in his life, and though not an overly moral man, he stands by what he believes and does not flinch, causing some stress to his relationships with his friends, family, and peers. Being raised by a Wizarding family who regularly interacted with Muggles and magical creatures, he possesses no prejudice or bias and therefore is in no way a supporter of such witches and wizards who preach against Muggle-borns and see Goblins and Centaurs and the like as lower forms of life. He also drinks rather heavily for an average man but in light of his diet and lifestyle the alcohol has little lasting effect on him, yet it has caused a strain on his relationship with his adopted mother, who forbade any form of alcohol in her home and has nothing to do with it. An avid aficionado of swearing and gambling, he frequents seedy establishments wherever he goes finding those to be the only places he can truly be sociable.

His temper and impatience can be traced to his childhood. As a young boy with clever hands and a creative mind many things came easily to him, and he could not understand why his friends could not do the various things he could. His patience became thin then while dealing with his friends, and he began to lose his patience and his temper became increasingly sporadic with each incident. Kendrick and Frances attempted to correct this in him, but his stubbornness would not allow it to change.

Family: (See complete family trees at the end of this biography)

Jameson's father is unknown to him, having left his mother at the announcement of her pregnancy. Though his mother Eileen said he was a pureblood of a noble house, as Jameson grew older he began to doubt the validity of that claim, suspecting his mother was only trying to comfort him. Eileen, a daughter of the Abshire's of Kenilworth, was the firstborn and only child of that influential family, and as such was the inheritor of the Abshire estate at the death of her father (she having no siblings).

Jameson's grandparents died while he was still an infant. His grandfather Kenzie was a Potioneer by trade and used his wealth to experiment with new recipes. While working with a new potion he believed would be able to cure a werewolf's bite indefinitely, he discovered the fumes to be toxic and died before he could leave the estate. His wife Philippa was a shopkeeper in Diagon Alley before marrying Kenzie, but after their marriage she lived at home and did not continue working. She died soon after Kenzie, though whether from old age or grief it is not known.

After the death of his grandparents he and his mother moved to the Abshire estate, but Eileen's mental state soon began to break down as the full weight of the loss of her lover and parents, as well as the prospect of raising a child alone bore down upon her. After a few months she was admitted to St. Mungo's and Jameson, having no relatives of immediate blood (his closest relative being the great great grandniece of his great great grandfather), was adopted by the wizarding family of Kendrick and Frances Xavier at the tender age of two.

Kendrick, though a wizard, owned much farmland in their town and employed many Muggles on his farms. Originally a crop farmer he turned to raising animals when Jameson was four, particularly sheep and cattle. Frances was an employee of the British Ministry of Magic working in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. When Jameson was eleven and began his schooling at Hogwarts, Frances retired from the Ministry and began to stay home and pursue various interests and hobbies. Kendrick continues to raise animals to this day, and his farms have grown to be some of the largest in the country.

Through his adoption Jameson gained three elder siblings, who at the time of his adoption were four (Winston), seven (Kathryn), and twenty one (Polly). Jameson's siblings work in various areas of the globe, having pursued different careers after Hogwarts. Walter, a Hufflepuff, pursued a career in business, finally settling in Northampton as the owner of multiple wizarding and Muggle stores. Kathryn, also a Hufflepuff, pursued a career in the Ministry after her mother and has worked as an Obliviator for many years. Polly, the oldest of Jameson's siblings and the only Ravenclaw amongst their family, found that she wasn't content in England and moved to the city of Vancouver in British Columbia, where she established herself as a formidable mediwitch across the region.

Jameson was very close with Winston growing up, feeling very hurt when Winston left for Hogwarts. Kathryn was a good older sister to him, but once he entered Hogwarts she avoided him while at school, not wanting her younger brother tailing after her. This drove them apart and they have still not completely reconciled. Polly, though nearly nineteen years Jameson's elder, doted upon her littlest brother especially. She spoiled him with sweets and games in secret and often gave him small gifts to keep him happy. Though Polly loved her two biological siblings as much, she believed that Jameson in many ways needed more love and affection to feel truly a part of the family, especially once he learned the truth about his heritage.

Though he could not remember his real mother, when he was twelve years old Kendrick and Frances told him the truth about his mother, father, and grandparents, and he visited Eileen who was still at St. Mungo's. After learning the truth, he visited Eileen at each Hogwarts break, usually spending two to three days with her. Though he could never bring himself to see her as his true mother having only known Frances for so long, he developed a love and appreciation for Eileen, and was devastated when she died when he was nineteen. With her death, Jameson was left with no immediate family, his only cousin (who was aforementioned) having died when he was seventeen.

Though Eileen had died, Jameson did not inherit the Abshire Estate, as Eileen had signed away the house while he was still a child. He did, however, inherit a small fortune from the estate, but at the urging of his adoptive parents gave the majority of it to St. Mungo's to fund their research. As for his father, Jameson never pursued him. He had no clues of who he may have been, and even though a part of him desired to know his biological father, he realized that a man who would abandon his child was not the kind of man that he would wish to know. And in Jameson's mind, Kendrick had always been and would always be his father, regardless of his birth.

Pets:
Jameson owns four dogs and two owls, they being named and bred as so (dogs in italics, owls underlined):

Enzo: German Shepherd (Age 9)
Niko: Australian Shepherd (Age 11)
Jackson: Australian Shepherd (Age 12)
Elaine: Icelandic Sheepdog (Age 11)
Othello: Morepork Owl (Age 2)
Galbon: Morepork Owl (Age 1)

His owls he bought upon moving to New Zealand in 2037, as his previous owl died before he moved. Since the Morepork owl was the only native species of owl on the islands, he saw fit to purchase two to help integrate himself into his new home.

His dogs, given to him by his adopted father, are all retired shepherding dogs that Kendrick used on his farms but have grown old enough that they needed to be replaced. Not willing to see them waste away or given to strangers, Jameson asked for them all, taking them to New Zealand with him where he hoped the change in climate would help them age well.

Though his dogs were used as herding dogs, they spent much time with the family. None were born as Jameson was growing up, all being born many years after his graduation from Hogwarts, but Jameson bonded with each on his visits home for holidays and vacations.

Area of Residence:
Jameson was born in the town of Kenilworth, but upon his adoption and until the age of twenty two he lived in The Downs in Kent, before moving to London to work at the Ministry. He briefly lived in a small flat in Wellington when he first moved to New Zealand, but now lives in Brightstone Village above the Brightstone General Store.

Blood Status:
Jameson identifies as being of mixed blood but may possibly be pureblood, though he has no desire to confirm this or not.

Heritage:
Jameson, through his mother, is descended from the Abshire's of Kenilworth. An older Pureblood family who made their wealth through mining and banking in Africa in the early nineteenth century, they had before been merely a working class family, yet still Pureblood.

Interests or Hobbies:
Jameson is an active outdoorsman, regularly engaging in hiking and camping, and enjoys activities such as swimming, kayaking, and climbing. He is a man who works with his hands often, preferring to build his own furniture and construct most of his own possessions when possible. He also attempts to stay fit through boxing, somewhat irregularly, but has developed a fondness for it over time. Reading and writing occupy much of his time and he often journals and writes fiction when he may.

He also has less productive and morally questionable interests, though some call them vices, as he frequently gambles and drinks heavily at pubs.

Strengths:
Jameson is a hard worker and dedicated student of the magical arts now, unlike in his youth. An active mind and an active hand have kept him fit and strong, and his resolve and dedication to his crafts and work are evident in his life.

Weaknesses:
Jameson is a temperamental man with a quick tongue and a harsh mind for those he dislikes or those who anger and irritate him. Many a friend has been lost this way, and many a memory kept permanent by cruel words uttered at a young age. Due to this, he often spends time alone, but his seclusion from the outside world often leaves him in a permanent state of unhappiness. He finds that during certain times a year, especially the summer, books and words lose their appeal and food seems dry in his mouth, and yet he does nothing to change his situation. It is his belief that he cannot be wholly engrossed in the world or wholly separate and be happy, but he has found no way to integrate the two and compromise.

He has also been known to solve problems with his wand or hands when words would do no good. As a regular patron in a number of Muggle pubs he often found himself drawn into fistfights with the local folks, building a reputation as a formidable boxer as a young man before formally training in the art. Though not an incredibly skilled wizard, he also has won a number of duels in a similar manner, being agile and having a keen mind for fighting. (Though I list this last paragraph as a weakness, Jameson does not see it as a weakness himself, but it is seen as a weakness by his family and friends

Describe your character in three words:
Temperamental because his mood has the ability to change immediately and he is roused to hostility quickly and his anger smolders; contemplative because he is often in thought, preferring to be alone much of the time, and using that time to read and to write and to think; and driven, because as he grew up he had little ambition or drive to pursue his studies or find hobbies or interests that would help shape him and make him a man, and after graduating he realized that he would have dedicate himself to studying once more on his own and pursue skills to make him a good man and a good worker.

Favourite place to be:
Jameson's favourite places have always been outdoors. In the woods or in the hills, in soft creek beds or in the rapids of a river, he has no real preference.

Hogwarts House:
Jameson was sorted into Slytherin house at Hogwarts Scotland, likely due to the Sorting Hat seeing an ambitious nature and driven personality in him, though he utilized those traits little in his time at Hogwarts. This was due to a combination of things. Jameson's interests were often in things that were outside of the classroom. Games and toys occupied his time, and he often would swim in the lake or walk the grounds, and fly when he could. His imagination ran rampant for many years and tore him away from his studies. This, combined with an assorted group of young hoodlums and future leeches on society that he associated with, kept him from doing well in school.

Best school subjects:
Though Jameson never excelled in any subject, both from a lack of interest and effort more than no talent, he did find some interest and enjoyment in the subjects of Defense Against the Dark Arts and Transfiguration.

Worst school subjects:
Jameson was particularly poor at Astronomy and Herbology, and though he may have had an aptitude for it he was especially dismal in Potions class.

Extracurricular Activities:
While at Hogwarts Jameson participated in various groups over the years, notably the Chess club where he was a member from 3rd year to 7th year, and for the Slytherin quidditch team where he played as a beater from 5th year on.

Graduation:
Jameson graduated from Hogwarts in 2023, an average student. Never having excelled in any subject, he dabbled and was fairly good in many, but never had an interest in putting forth a real effort. His O.W.L.'s were rather poor overall, with his N.E.W.T.'s being average with a few exceptions. Upon graduating and realizing he had little to offer the wizarding world, he began to personally study Charms and Transfiguration again, hoping to learn over time what he had ignored while at Hogwarts.

Current Job:
When Jameson first moved to New Zealand he was unemployed and living off his savings, but recently he was hired as the Shopkeeper of the Brightstone General Store in Brightstone Village.

Previously he had worked in various offices and departments around the British Ministry of Magic, first in Muggles Relations, then as an Obliviator (where he worked under his sister Kathryn), and for a brief time the Magical Law Enforcement Patrol.

Plans for your future:
Though originally hoping to work for the Ministry again, this time in New Zealand, Jameson has taken a position as a Shopkeeper. As such his plan is to expand the business and grow it. (He still hopes to one day return to the Ministry)

Your Patronus:
Jameson's Patronus takes the shape of a sheepdog due to his affinity for the animals, both as childhood pets and friends.

Your Patronus memory:
The memory which Jameson utilizes for his Patronus spell is one from the age of nine, when his older sister Polly presented him with his first broomstick. Though an avid fan of Quidditch, he had never been permitted to ride a broom until that time, and feeling the wind whip past his face and flow through his hair filled him with an indescribable joy, such as he had not known yet in his life. For two weeks after receiving the broom he shirked his responsibilities on their families farms and would often sneak away from the pastures and herds to fly in nearby forests. Once, when his adopted father discovered that he had done this, he was punished by having his broom locked up for nearly two months. After this punishment ceased he learned to temper and allot special time for flying, but occasionally would still sneak off to fly while he was supposed to be working.

Your Boggart:
Jameson's boggart is a crup, having been chased and bitten by one of his father's as a child, and has maintained a permanent fear of the creatures ever since. Though a man with a passion for canines, he doesn't approach crups any longer, and indeed if he sees one on the street or in a park he will go out of his way to avoid them. An irrational fear, he knows, but one he cannot get over and has no desire to.

Your Animagus:
Jameson is not currently an Animagus, and though he has a mild interest in becoming one he has not made up his mind whether he will pursue it or not.

Mirror of Erised:
In the Mirror of Erised Jameson would see himself and his former fiancée, who left him in the month before their wedding, reunited and happy together.

When Jameson was 23 he began dating Alisha Watersfield, a fellow Muggle Relations employee. They had worked together for almost half a year before Jameson mustered the courage to ask her to dinner, but happily she agreed. For four years they dated, before Jameson proposed. He had bought a cottage on the outskirts of London with money he had saved and bought her a ring both elegant and tasteful. They planned a small and intimate wedding, rather quickly (or so thought their friends), and two months later Jameson stood in Southwark Cathedral awaiting his bride. But she never showed. It was five months before he received a letter, wherein she told him that she had left and gone to Ireland. She gave no reason for why and he knew of no reason either. And though his heart was grievously wounded, he did not pursue her nor did he ever reply to her letter.

A page from your diary:

Dear Diary,

Today I wandered far into the woods near my home. I must have walked three leagues at the least, for each and every muscle and tendon in my legs is screaming out in pain. But I don't regret it, because I climbed a shelf of rock on the eastern end of the forest, and at the summit was able to see all around for miles. There's something about the silence of the forest at sundown, when you stand alone and watch the sun disappear, and you feel empty and naked. You feel alone, and yet…and yet you feel content and you feel happy. You feel as if this one brief moment is yours, and no one else's. There are no friends or family or acquaintances or enemies to spoil this time. Alone on a bare rock you watch the night come and you suddenly hear the forest come alive. It's not something I think I'll soon forget.

Upon my return I found a stone in a riverbed I had to cross. I don't know why it caught my eye, because there is nothing significant or special about this stone. It's not entirely smooth or flat, nor is it even round or toss-able. Just a simple, rough stone. But I think I'll keep it. Indeed even now it sits in my right pocket and I can feel it on my lap, for it is not a light stone, though not too heavy. But for some strange and inexplicable reason, I feel the desire to keep this stone and hide it away. Perhaps in the morning I'll know why.

-Jameson

I believe I've done this right, but I would really appreciate any and all feedback. Did I make any grammatical mistakes? Is there something I should expand on? Something I should dial back on? Let me know! :)
