Mhairi was well underway to completing her first year at Hogwarts, and she had done so with less problems than she'd first anticipated. It had taken her a while to get into a routine that suited her and her classmates, but she was happy to be able to say she was keeping up with the others. Although she felt a little sad at the idea of not seeing Lina quite so often, she hoped that her sister didn't hold it against the Hufflepuff, and was hopefully proud of her instead.

Mhairi found herself walking along the sixth floor corridor, looking for ingredients in order to make her brothers present. She had an idea of what she wanted to send back home for him, but she struggled to locate the missing aspects. Making her way down the hall, she caught sight of one of the students having a conversation with a Professor, a pink rose held out towards him. Mhairi paused, unsure if she should have walked in on an event like this, and quickly backed up towards a wall, slowing her pace. Although she wasn't sure what was going on, she felt like she shouldn't be here.

Hudson held a pink rose in his hands as he walked away from Professor Styx. The Professor hadn't wanted his rose and now the boy wondered what he should do about it. He thought going to the guy who gave him the rose assignments would show that he failed in his job. And while Hudson maybe was on the quieter type of person he really didn't mind going out and finding the people, it allowed him to explore some new areas of the school.

Walking away he noticed a girl was hiding along the way...it made him wonder why. He quickly glanced behind him at the Professor who had been heading the other way before he jumped over and stood next to the girl flattening himself against the wall with a little smile on his face.

Mhairi watched nervously as the boy started to walk in her direction, and trying to blend in with the wall obviously wasn't working as he caught sight of her. She expected him to keep walking, perhaps not to even look at her, but as he joined her stance, it took her a few moments before a wide smile appeared on her face. Not many people paid her any attention, but she wondered why this student was playing around. Maybe she wasn't presentable? She glanced down, slowly patting her clothes. Maybe instead she'd gotten something caught in her hair.

Trying to ignore the thoughts running through her mind, she turned her attention to the student that was looking in her direction. Taking a notebook out of her pocket, she scribbled something down quickly, before tearing off the sheet and handing it across for him to read. Most people were baffled when she did this, but as her green quill was hovering in the air independently now above the notebook in her hands, ready for anything, it often didn't take long for them to join the dots. Didn't he like it? The note read. Mhairi looked between the piece of paper she'd given him and up to the face of the student, before adding a little shrug.

Hudson was to be done delivering the rose to Professor Styx, it had been an interesting encounter and the note was very awkward to be handing over to a Professor. He hoped the man wouldn't think it was from him. Hudson didn't really have those sorts of feelings and he doubted he'd ever have them for someone so old. He glanced at the girl that was by his side, she was writing something and handed him the note. He glanced down the hall the Professor had gone, he wasn't too sure why she wasn't talking.

"I don't think he likes the idea of Valentine's Day," Hudson said in reply handing the note back towards the girl. Hudson might be a Ravenclaw, but he wasn't the brightest with common sense and still wondered why the girl wasn't talking to him. "He is gone you know, it's okay," Hudson said pulling away from the wall a smile on his face. He wondered if this girl liked to play games in her head as well. Hudson often fought soldiers and great monsters in the halls of the castle, obviously to protect all his classmates. But it was all in his head.

Mhairi saw the boys lips move, but as usual no sounds were heard. Immediately her quill got to work though, and she glanced down to the notebook to read the text. He was right, the Professor didn't look as though he was the type to enjoy that kind of celebration, and she wondered which Professor could possibly have a crush on him. Besides, surely someone that old was already married. Maybe that's why he didn't enjoy it. She gave a smile showing her teeth at his next statement, and she nodded in reply.

She tapped her left ear, before pointing to the name tag she had attached to her cardigan. She hadn't intended to keep it on for as long as she had, but it was useful for when she met new people who didn't know her name, besides maybe word was getting around about the kid that couldn't hear, and even if he didn't recognise her he may still know of the first year. Mhairi preferred to show rather than tell, and she wanted to find out more about this student. She'd seen him around a little bit in classes but wasn't sure of his name, it was difficult when everyone was a list. She reached into her pocket to pull out her rabbit, and even though on one hand she felt a little embarrassed that she was nearly twelve and still carried around soft toys, but then he was always with her, and besides she'd made him herself. She clutched the toy to her chest with one hand before prodding the boys jumper with her free hand in question.

Hudson was glad the Professor was gone now and he still held the pink rose in her hands. He thought this girl seemed nice, quiet like him and he wondered what she enjoyed doing outside of classes, besides hide behind corners. She didn't talk to him, not yet at least and he found it interesting, but also kind of nice. Hudson liked playing this game of reading her notes. He watched as she moved pointing to a tag on her cadigan. He leaned over and tried to read what was written. "Oh sorry, I don't know the native New Zealand language," he said unsure why the girl was wearing a tag with letters in a strange fashion like that. But it didn't seem like she was going to explain. It was then he realized it might actually be her name and not just a random word, especially once she prodded him. "Oh, is that your name?" He asked wondering how someone would pronounce such a name. "My name is Hudson. Uh, H-u-d-s-o-n," he said unsure why he was spelling his name but he was able to see her name. He glanced at her rabbit toy but didn't think much else of it, his younger sister still had toys she carried around so it didn't seem odd to him. He wished he was able to carry around one of his toy swords, but now he just had a wand, which wasn't quite the same. Hudson would have rather been one of the solider's in King Arthur's world than Merlin. He never told his parents that idea, they would have been upset, his new parents that was.
