Samual was quite excited to be back at Hogwarts, doing classes and helping out first years. School was more like a hobby to him, sometimes. Especially the first few weeks before the really hard stuff begins. The Gryffindor couldn't wait for this year to truly begin. But it was also his last. It felt strange to be in his final year, and having the title of Head Boy. He didn't feel like he was the head of anything. Weren't the head boys supposed to be really serious and weren't they supposed to be good leaders? Sammy didn't feel like any of those things. But he trusted the professors and that, they obviously picked him because they thought he could do it. He wasn't about to just give up because he doubted them. Being Head Boy just made him feel super old. It made it clear that he was in seventh year and that he was leaving and that he wasn't a kid any more and it just made him realise that graduation was really, really close. He sighed and looked at his palm. Athena Zhe... the rest of the last name was a little smudged and mostly just a long line. Sammy sort of knew how to spell her name, it was just he couldn't fit it all on his hand and it was such a difficult name. It couldn't be something simple like 'Jones' or 'Smith' or 'Bryce'.

Sammy stood ideally on the first floor and made sure he was in the sunlight. He was near the Muggle Studies room and hoped that Athena would remember to meet him here. They were on patrol, so he doubted that she would be late. She seemed pretty serious sometimes, like in class. She always looked like she was doing something serious. Could she smile? The Gryffindor wasn't sure he had seen the Slytherin smile before, certainly not at him or anything. Maybe she didn't like him? He shook his head. How could she dislike him? They didn't really hang out. You can't hate someone you don't know. Samual smiled a little at the odd student that walked past and rocked back and forth a little. This was going to be fun, he was sure of it. It'd be like hanging out with a friend, except he'd be able to make a new friend. Sammy felt it to be very important that he got along wit the other prefects.

When Athena had seen who she was partnered with for her patrol, her heart had sunk a bit. She had hoped to be paired with one of her cousins or Zayne. She would've even resigned herself to patrol with Yerik or one of the younger Slytherins, but of course that was not the case. She'd gotten paired with none other than the Head Boy. At least it isn't Aphrodite, she bemused as she headed out of her dungeon common room. She didn't think she could stand to be partnered with the perfect blonde with her perfect blonde hair and life. It was enough to make her want to vomit every time she saw the girl toss her hair over a shoulder. As she continued on, Athena made sure that her prefect badge was facing the right way. It was. The tall blonde got off on the first floor landing and looked down the hall. Of course, he would choose the Muggle Studies classroom to meet in front of. She didn't expect anything less from the Boy of Perpetual Happiness.

Glancing at the time as she stepped past a classroom, Athena noted that she was right on time, not too early nor too late. She walked up to Samual and stopped right in front of him. The teen stood a few inches taller than the guy, even in her flats. Even from afar, she could pick him out. His hair, which was a mass of curls, was his stand out feature. " Hello M- Samual" she greeted him, fighting to keep from smiling to herself at her near slip. McHappy was a name she'd heard Kiara use for him several times and she had picked up the name too. The teen's silver eyes were already looking past Samual, down the hall to where some students were walking past. "Where would you like to begin?" she asked, deferring to the Head Boy.

Samual's attention was pulled from the sunlight when he noticed that Athena was standing right in front of him. As He had expected, Athena was not late. He smiled brightly at her. Hopefully she was as eager for this patrol as he was. "Hello Athena, I look forward to this." Samual sort of had things planned, kind of. Basically, he was planning to just walk and talk and make sure no one caused any trouble. It probably wouldn't be that hard. He always had to talk when no patrol, he couldn't just walk in silence. However, some prefects didn't share his love of chattering when on the job. Hopefully Athena wouldn't mind too much. They had been in the same classes for a very long time, yet Sammy could barely spell her last name. That just wasn't good enough in his eyes. He felt that he should get to know everyone better. It was his last year and everyone was probably going to go their owns ways anyway. Why not at least try to get to know them?

Sammy looked down at the hall and shrugged. It was a good place to begin. "I suppose we can go this way, come on!" He was excited for this, even though he was trying to appear responsible. Responsible just wasn't Samual. The hall was not crowded right now, probably because most people would be outside enjoying the sunlight. All the Gryffindor could do was try and enjoy the sunlight from indoors. It was difficult. He smiled a little at Athena. "So..." What was he going to say? He wasn't sure if they had much in common at all. "What are you planning to do after graduation?" That was a safe question. Sam didn't know much about Athena, so he didn't want to ask something too personal. It might make her feel uncomfortable, and he didn't want that.

Athena regarded Samual as she would a dangerous creature. She wasn’t used to people being so friendly and enthusiastic. It wasn’t that everyone in her family was mean, though there certainly were a few, but they didn’t necessarily show their emotions on their sleeves as Samual did. When they did act overly nice, it was likely because they were going to do something ridiculously cruel. Athena was fairly certain that this was not the case with Samual, though she couldn’t be sure. Athena certainly didn’t share his sentiment though. She didn’t dislike patrolling the halls, but it wasn’t something that she looked forward to. It just was. Rather than lie, Athena remained silent and allowed Samual to continue on. It seemed that he had no limit on the amount that he could talk anyway. Every time she saw the guy, he was chattering on endlessly.

As Samual began to walk down the hall, Athena kept pace with him. It wasn’t difficult to do. With her height, she was able to keep pace with most of the others in the school aside from her uncle and cousin who both towered over her. That was saying something since the girl was near on 6 feet tall. If it was left to Athena, the patrol would have gone on in silence, from her end anyway. She knew that Samual could likely carry on a one-sided conversation but he seemed determined to include her. She knew his question before he’d even finished. It was the hot topic among the seventh years, those who knew what they wanted to do bragging around about how great their lives would be once they flew the proverbial coop. Samual was likely one of those people who had his life figured out already. The Slytherin was not. She shrugged. “Probably go on a long holiday if my father allows it and then look for a job when I return” she stated. Any normal person likely would have turned the question around to continue the conversation, but Athena simply walked on, glancing into the empty rooms that they passed.

Athena didn't really seem like a talkative person. It was a shame, the Gryffindor had hoped to make a great friend out of her. He wasn't going to hold her shyness against her. To Samual, Athena needed to get out more, and he was perfectly happy to try and get her to do that. There was no point in hiding away. It was the last year both of them would be able to be here. They might as well get on talking terms. Athena didn't seem nasty or anything. Samual tucked his hands in his pockets and smiled at her, trying to get her to open up. He wasn't being scary, was he? This thought left his mind quickly. How could he possibly be scary? He was many things, but scary was definitely not one of them. He wasn't sure what he'd do if he had to appear scary in order to settle students down, other than tell them politely to stop being silly. He'd probably find a professor to do the scary stuff, like Professor Styx. He'd probably be able to pull students into line. Thank Merlin there didn't seem to be any trouble yet.

Samual nodded as Athena spoke. A holiday sounded like a lot of fun. In all honesty, Sammy had no idea what he was going to do. It was pretty bad. He had considered asking Kate if he could join her travel of the world, but he doubted Hazel would like that very much. "Do you know where you're going to go? I heard that Fiji is really nice. There's lots of sunlight and fruit and everything." Samual wasn't sure if she wanted to talk holiday destinations with him, but the other topic of choice was his own plans, and since he didn't really have any, that'd be a very short conversation indeed.

Athena had hoped that Samual’s curiosity would have been quenched by her reply, but she should have known better. As he followed up with another question, Athena glanced at him. The boy mentioned a place that Athena had never heard of before. The teen only ever traveled with her family, her father much too overprotective to allow her to travel on her own. “Hmm…” she mused before revealing her plans. “I was thinking something more along the lines of Italy” she stated quietly. She had been reading through a magazine over the break and had found an article that stated that Tuscany was one of the best spots for stargazing. It was just a hobby for the Slytherin girl, but one that she was quite serious about and she was eager to travel with her telescope to the spot where Galileo had once stargazed. She saw no need to explain any of this to Samual though. As they continued on, a first year timidly walked up to them. The tall Slytherin’s silver eyes watched the girl approach and listened to her nervous request for directions to the library. Athena was glad that it was nothing serious and directed the girl, watching her walk away before she turned back to Samual.

“Do you have any plans?” she asked, more out of an eagerness to get the attention away from herself than of actually wanting to know his plans. Athena disliked talking about herself especially to people she didn’t know. It was one of the qualities about her that was going to make it difficult to find a job. Athena kept her gaze on what was ahead of the pair. There was nothing of note, but it beat staring awkwardly at the Head Boy.
