Jessica watched her feet as she walked. The hallways were only amusing for so long and now she was just bored. Without anyone to talk to at this school, Jessica was finding herself feeling lonely. She needed to find someone decent enough to have a valuable conversation with, but it was so darn hard finding someone her own age. She let out a breath as she noticed a tapestry, walking over to it, she touched it tentatively with her finger. She jumped a little as it opened to reveal a kitchen. Inwardly grinning she stepped inside, eyeing the house elves, as though daring them to object to her being in here. She picked up an apple from a table in the centre and tossed it up in the air once before taking an audible bite, glaring at a wide-eyed house elf as she did so. She never did like the creatures.

Although Abigail was acting nice to a few choice people she still had a lot of hatred pent up inside of her, hatred that got out on those she didn't respect or have any loyalties for, that were of course not the professors, she did after all really want to become prefect and Head Girl one day and she had Isabella and Alyssa to compete with, all the others didn't really stack up to the three girls in her opinion. So when her muggle studies lesson ended, she rushed down to the kitchens. She hadn't eaten breakfast yet and after a long lecture she needed a meal in her.

Finding the familiar painting she had discovered in her second year was just the same at Hogwarts New Zealand as it was at Hogwarts Scotland; a passageway. Raising her dark hand to the picture she tickled the light green pear. When it was open she sighed quietly and entered the kitchens, immediately being greeted by a filthy mongrel. "Get out of my way you mudcrawler," she spat, kicking it out of the way and wrinkling her nose with disgust as she realized she had just touched one, even if it was just with the tip of her black pump.

Abigail walked towards the main part of the kitchen only to see some other girl there. She held her amethyst eyes on the girl, judging her as she walked over to the table and picked up a Granny Smith Apple. "Got a name, first year?" she asked as she flattened down her dress, somewhat relieved that in muggle studies you were able to wear any clothes you wanted as long as it wasn't your school uniform. She didn't want people to think that the Glam Squad had lowered it's standards that much.

Jessica raised her eyes when she heard someone else enter the kitchens. She quickly tried to conjure an excuse if someone that could get her in trouble was behind the doors. When it was an older student, Jess acted casual, as if she had every right in the world to be in here. Taking another crunching bite out of her apple, smirking behind it as the girl kicked a house-elf out the way. Jess decided she liked her immediately.

When she was addressed she looked up. "Jessica Mercer." She said with pride. Having her Dad's pureblood name was the only thing she could cling to after learning the truth about her Mum. "Slytherin." She added with equal pride. Jess had a hunch that this girl was also a snake, and it was important to gain the loyalty of fellow house members. Especially if you were in Slytherin. "And you are?" She asked, trying her best not to allow her usual rude tone to slip into her voice.

Abigail's eyes flashed with keen hatred as she heard the first year's surname. Not for the Professor, because she actually liked him but for that Gryffindor brat. She wrinkled her nose at the thought of Taylor and just how brawny she was. "Abigail Lurken, also Slytherin," she responded, knowing that most actually ninety per cent of students referred to her as Abbey while the other ten called her Abigail because they were people that disliked her. She was hoping that soon all would call her Abigail, it was more refined and mature then Abbey. She did love her nickname but it really wasn't all too dignified and made her think of being on the streets in her second year of schooling and in her old orphanage since a few months after her birth until then.

"I take it you're related to the other Mercer," Abbey said, not hiding either her cockney accent or her hatred for Taylor. She didn't care if they were siblings or best friends, she disliked the younger girl. Her head was too big and needed to be brought down to size.

Jessica nodded with a small smile, that some might describe as sly, when the girl introduced herself. Another Slytherin, just as Jess had suspected. Jessica raised an eyebrow at the other girl. "Ew. You know my sister?" She asked, examining her apple critically. She decided she didn't want it any more and chucked it lazily at a house elf, who squeaked and dropped the half eaten apple clumsily. Jess scoffed at the creature as it chased the apple that was rolling away. Jessica hoped that the girl wouldn't pass any judgement from Taylor to herself. Taylor was a Gryffindor, that was enough in itself to make her an annoying do-gooder. Her and Taylor had always been polar opposites, so much that Keith and Melissa wondered what had happened when bringing them up. Jessica's rebellion was what they expected to be a result of the divorce.
