INDIGO 'INDIE' ROYALE
BASIC INFO;
there's no earthly way of knowing, what was in your heart, when
it stopped going, the whole world shook, a storm was blowing through you
INDIGO
From the English word indigo for the purplish-blue dye or the colour. It is ultimately derived from Greek Ἰνδικόν (Indikon) meaning "Indic, from India" (from behindthename).
ROYALE
Variant of Royal, from the English word Royal derived (via Old French) from Latin regalis, a derivative of rex "king". It was first used as a given name in the 19th century (from behindthename).
BIRTHNAME
Indigo was born under the name Michael Stewart, and legally changed his name at the age of 21 to his pen name of Indigo Royale. This is because he wanted a name that stood out, and was a proper and recognizable sign off to his stories, and because he thought his birth name was too vanilla and boring to find success in the field he was in. It was a natural change as for years Indigo had been called 'Indie' by his friends.
NICKNAMES
Indigo mostly goes by 'Indie' to the people in his everyday life, and has gone by this since he was a young boy as he idolized the character of Indiana Jones and dreamed one day to follow his own pursuits of glory. The name stuck throughout his life and was one of the reasons he later legally changed his name to Indigo.
BIRTHDAY
Indigo was born on July 16, 2019 in northern England. He was the second child to his parents and the middle child in his group of siblings, his birth name being Michael Stewart. His star sign is Leo.
RESIDENCE
Indigo currently lives in Wellington, New Zealand in an old, Edwardian era flat that he has decorated with various colorful wallpapers and pieces of thrifted furniture, to create a home that brings him joy with its colours and eclectic style. The flat is a little run down and still needs some renovation work but Indigo is working to make the flat his forever home with his daughter.
CHILDREN
Indigo has one daughter who is almost 6 years old, born from a previous relationship. Indigo was engaged to be married when his daughter was born and ready to build a life with her mother but the engagement was suddenly called off when she left Indigo for another man. Indigo as since been raising his daughter as a single dad and trying his best to continue his career and provide his daughter with a happy childhood.
EDUCATION
Indigo attended Hogwarts Scotland from the age of 11, and was sorted into Gryffindor. He is muggle born, so his time at school was quite bewildering at first and overwhelming as he was entering a new world. The first few years of Indigo's schooling were unhappy as he was bullied relentlessly but as he grew up and joined the school paper and found his calling, he realized who he wanted to be and his last few years at school were some of the best years of his life.
PROFESSION
Indigo is a journalist, and has been since he graduated from Hogwarts. He has previously worked at a magical publication that attempted to rival the daily prophet, and it is from this publication that Indigo formed his career writing trashy gossip stories and exposing the elite of magical Britain. Since moving to New Zealand Indigo has continued to write, although is currently freelancing in the hope of one day funding the creation of his own publication, his main hope being to find a balance between trashy stories and honest journalism and have full creative control of the stories he writes.

WAND
- Length: A little on the longer side of things, wands of this length are slightly more uncommon and not easily forgotten by others.
- Style: Great care was taken in crafting this wand's wood to spiral to its point, giving it a beautiful aesthetic quality.
- Wood: A wand best suited for a warrior-type, Blackthorn wands bond most strongly to their owners after going through adversity.
- Core: Wands with a core of boomslang venom are good for use in transfiguration work. It is known to boost jinxes and hexes.
- Flexibility: Unyielding: A wand which takes a special skill and determination to master; but once mastered its spells leave an unforgettable impression.
BLOOD STATUS
Indigo is muggle born and this has shaped some of his opinions on blood status due to the bullying he experienced during his years at Hogwarts. Indigo tends to think of pure blooded magical folk, or any magical folk with a sense of blood prejudice as his enemy, and elitist and inherently evil, and this is apparent in his stories exposing prejudiced magical folk in power.

APPEARANCE;
waiting for God to stop this, and up to your neck in darkness
everyone around you was corrupted, saying something
BUILD
Indigo's build is average weight and height for a man of his age, and he is not particularly toned or muscular. He does not feel any particular way about his build and is confident in himself irregardless of how he is built.
STYLE
Indigo loves to dress to stand out, often sporting suits in bright colours and patterns and at times dressing very garish and over the top. It is this bright fashion that brings him confidence to stand out and embodies the persona he has created for himself as a writer, contributing to the part he is playing in the news cycle of being a trashy journalist. Indigo loves to wear faux fur coats and many accessories in line with this, and while working is always overdressed as this helps him get into the right mindset. He loves to wear designer labels as well, as these labels have the fashion forward energy he seeks out in his everyday work dress. For formal work events Indigo does not wear anything less over the top and even goes further out of his way to stand out when he is dressing up. He loves to wear sparkles and costume jewelry at times when he attends events to fully embody the luxury and excess he promotes for himself.
EYE COLOUR
Indigo has blue-green eyes he inherited from his mother. Indigo does not feel any particular way about his eye colour but does like that his eye colour can be considered 'interesting' even if he does not think of it as such.
HAIR
Indigo's hair is naturally dark brown border lining on black, and as he has gotten older his hair has begun to grey, turning into a shade of salt and pepper. He embraces his hair colour and doesn't dye it to remove the grey, and he currently styles his hair shorter on the sides and longer at the top of his head, which he wears neat and slicked back.
PIERCINGS
Indigo has both his ears pierced in multiple places, and likes to wear eccentric earrings for the sake of his style and the way he dresses up in everyday life. He tends to choose asymmetrical earrings and luxury earrings and at times even costume jewelry, using this as a means to play with his style and accessorize to maintain the persona he has created.
TATTOOS
Indigo also has various different tattoos on his arms, hands and chest which have various different meanings and all of which he has gotten to represent different eras and successes in his life. He is proud of his tattoos and not afraid to show off or accentuate them, but the tattoos he is most proud of and likes to show off most, is the roman numeral tattoo he has of his daughter's birthday, on the back of his hand, and his daughter's name on his inner forearm. Indigo is not against getting more tattoos if he finds a suitable meaning or image he wants to remember on his body.

MISCELLANEOUS;
there's no dignity in death, to sell the world your
last breath, we're still fighting over everything you left, oh
ORIENTATIONS
From dating both men and women throughout his life, Indigo identifies as Bisexual and his proud of this. He is open about his orientation and is not afraid to share this and openly supports others who are in the rainbow community.
RELATIONSHIP STATUS
Indigo is currently single, and from focusing on both his career and raising his daughter as a single father, while also still being rather heartbroken from his previous engagement falling apart, isn't really looking for a serious relationship. He is not against an occasional fling if given the opportunity nor is he against flirting with others for the sake of having fun, but he otherwise isn't really looking for love or doesn't really feel like he is deserving of love.
PATRONUS
Indigo's full bodied patronus appears as a weasel. This is not only due to him finding weasels comforting due to their resourcefulness and seeing his own ability to get to the nitty gritty, and find hiding places and run around in his career, but also because of weasels and their goofy playfulness. Indigo would find the image of a weasel adorable and it would help him feel happier again if he ever encountered a dementor.
MIRROR OF ERISED
If Indigo looked into the mirror of erised, he would see himself thanking a crowd of people cheering him as he receives multiple awards for his investigative journalism, and he would be blowing kisses to the crowd while accepting a trophy. There would be cameras flashing to take his photo and confetti falling around him. This is an image Indigo would have seen as a teenager when he realized his love of writing and this would not have changed much as he has grown up into an adult, the only real changes in the image being the gravity of his success and the amount of adoration and awards surrounding him growing as he dreams of achieving more.
ACCENT
As Indigo has grown up in England and lived there up until a few years ago, his accent is still very much English, specifically from northern England. Indigo does play this up a little to stand out now that he is in New Zealand, and likes to use slang phrases paired with his accent to get away with being cheeky and sassy at times.

PERSONALITY;
you had that look upon your face, advertising space and no
one learned from your mistakes, we let our profits go to waste
INTERESTS AND HOBBIES
Indigo's main interest is the gossip and scandals of the lives of people in power, if not only for the sake of his career as a reporter. This is an interest he has maintained for most of his life, and something he continually seeks to expand and expose to his own detriment. This is a main motivation of his that leads into an interest in current events and reporting in general, with Indigo always reading some form of publication to both understand his own competition as well as understand the general scope of the publishing world and how it influences pop culture. Indigo is also interested in historical events and studying history and the impact this had on society as a whole. Indigo does not really tend to have hobbies or interests outside of his career as out of both necessity, compulsion and not knowing anything else or finding his self worth doing anything else his career has taken up his life and dictated his interests on the side, to the point where everything he is interested in intertwines with his work whether he likes it or not. Indigo also has an interest in muggle films and music, loving old muggle movies and musicians and similarly to all his other interests, studying their impacts and influence on society and pop culture and using this to attempt to understand and garner his own influence in his life.
STRENGTHS
Indigo is confident, and sure of himself on the outside as well as charismatic and funny in his own way, and this tends to draw people in and allow him to appear as the life of the party. Indigo is motivated and talented and works hard to achieve his goals and recognition and glory, and when he has a goal in mind or a story to work on he is reliable and deadline focused, driven by his need to find success and also to better himself as a writer. He is fashionable and dresses well and keeps up with grooming and goes out of his way to leave a good first impression even if this doesn't always stick. On a more personal level, Indigo is very dedicated to being a good father and is caring and kind and supportive of his daughter, making sure she always feels loved and included in his life in the hope he can give her the happy childhood he never had. Indigo is extremely passionate about everything he cares about, and is motivated to pursue each of his passions and build the life he has always dreamed of.
WEAKNESSES
Indigo has many weaknesses, the first and foremost of his weaknesses being his cunning, and ability to do all he can to get ahead of the curve in his career. While on the positive side this leads into motivation and decisiveness and reliability, on the negative side this leads to broken bridges, Indigo being at many times untrustworthy and resented by those he has hurt. He also has been known to use others and their influence to gain his own influence within various social circles to further his career and gain insight into what would otherwise be fruitless gossip for the sake of his stories, and expresses a lack of empathy in using others to get ahead as well as not caring when others are hurt by his stories. This is a weakness of Indigo's that has developed throughout his time as a journalist, not present during his time in school but growing over the years of his adulthood due to the competition of the field he is in and a desperation to succeed and draw attention to himself for his own sake. In turn with this, Indigo can be perceived as arrogant and a bit full of himself, as he is and feels he has to be for the sake of maintaining his persona. Indigo does want to see his persona as a writer as separate from his true self, and since becoming a father he has tried sometimes in vain to separate his real feelings from his persona somewhat for his daughter's sake and attempting to create a contrast between his personal self and his work self, but the line at this current state between who Indigo really is and who he portrays himself to be is still incredibly blurred. Indigo as a result of this and playing into a persona for most of his adult life also doesn't have as much self esteem or as much sense of his true self as he wishes he had, and while his pursuit of his career is what he wants to do with his life it seems to have taken up a life of it's own, and internally he is rather lost and a bit insecure, a separation from his real self and his arrogant mask he has worn since his childhood.

PERSONALITY TYPE
The Debater: ENTP-A
As an ENTP (Debater), you are a vibrant intellectual force, always ready to challenge ideas and push boundaries. Your quick wit and audacious spirit make you a natural provocateur, thriving on the mental gymnastics of a good argument. You see the world as a playground of possibilities, where every conversation is an opportunity to explore new concepts and challenge the status quo. Your innovative mind is constantly buzzing with ideas, making connections that others might miss. You have an uncanny ability to see potential where others see problems, approaching challenges with enthusiasm and creativity. This makes you an invaluable asset in brainstorming sessions and think tanks, where your out-of-the-box thinking can lead to groundbreaking solutions.
However, your love for the theoretical can sometimes overshadow the practical. While you excel at generating ideas and strategies, you may find yourself losing interest when it comes to the nitty-gritty of implementation. The mundane details of everyday life can feel stifling to your free-spirited nature, leading to a tendency to procrastinate on routine tasks or abandon projects once the initial excitement wears off. Your charismatic nature and gift for debate make you a compelling communicator, capable of rallying others around your vision. Yet, this same trait can sometimes come across as argumentative or insensitive if not tempered with emotional intelligence. Learning to balance your sharp intellect with empathy and tact is a key part of your personal growth journey, allowing you to harness your full potential as a visionary leader and innovator (from 16personalities.com).

FANCAST
Rita Skeeter: Harry Potter
Rita Skeeter (b. 1951)[1] was a British witch and journalist who specialized in writing poison-pen stories. These stories tended to be based on false information and misreported interviews. She wrote articles as a Gossip Correspondent for the Daily Prophet, as well as a few 'tell-all' biographies. She occasionally worked as a Quidditch Commentator for World Cup games.[13] Skeeter preferred writing for the sake of publicity and wrote what she thought people would "like to read" and what was lies rather than what they "ought to read" and which was the truth. Rita was extremely nosy and willing to do anything for a good story — from spying on people in her Animagus form of a beetle to sensationalizing or outright inventing stories. She also took advantage of elderly Bathilda Bagshot's possibly fragile state of mind (even giving her Veritaserum)[30] in order to dig up dirt on the late Albus Dumbledore for her extremely critical biography. She did this despite the use of such a powerful truth serum being heavily controlled by the Ministry. Rita tended to portray the people she wrote about poorly, presumably because it sold more stories. (from harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Rita_Skeeter)
Rita given her tendency to write poison-pen stories and going out of her way to sensationalize reality and exaggerate rumors and gossip for the sake of selling stories is the main reason Rita is a fitting fan cast for Indigo. Indigo himself is known to gossip, stir the pot and seek out stories he later adds fiction to for the sake of sales, and similarly to Rita can be very vindictive if someone crosses him, as well as cut throat as his gossip and trash stories are mixed with his competitiveness. Unlike Rita however, Indigo is less known as a person and is known more for his stories than anything else. He is somewhat not in the public eye but is well known and has a negative reputation in the field he is in, with most other reporters disliking him and knowing of him but the general public only knowing him as words on a page. Another aspect of Indigo which differs him from Rita is that over time he is beginning to mature and return to the honest and fact checked journalism that made him choose his path of writing in the first place, but he is currently caught between his old ways and ambitions for more while trying to balance fatherhood.

EARLY YEARS
Indigo Royale was born as Michael Stewart on July 16, 2019 in northern England and was the second of three children to his parents. Being the middle child, and lacking the same attention his younger sister had from his parents, as well as lacking the responsibilities of his older brother who was the eldest meant Indigo's childhood was one where he sought the attention he missed in an effort to avoid feeling left out and left behind. This was one of the many reasons Indigo grew up as seemingly arrogant and a bit of a show off, not focusing as much on learning as he turned 5 and began muggle schooling, as he did on being popular and making friends so he didn't feel like he was lonely. Arrogance and attention seeking were the only real traits that Indie thought properly defined his personality, and helped him feel like he was special and stood out from his peers. This both helped him find friendships and was the reason for the few childhood friends he did have, but at the same time also caused him to draw attention on him from bullies because he was always making a mockery of himself. Indigo at the time tried to brush off the bullying he experienced at school as a joke, and the names he was called didn't hurt him and even decided to begin to call himself 'Indie' after Indiana Jones in an effort to feel like he was a hero in pursuit of glory, but even he couldn't deny or hide that the bullying he did experience impacted him more than he ever thought it could.
SCHOOL YEARS
Indigo wasn't sure if it was a cruel twist of fate, a prank, or his salvation at first when he turned 11 and received a letter of acceptance to Hogwarts Scotland. He was born into a regular muggle family and knew nothing of magic at the time and neither of course did his family, but as his first year at Hogwarts drew closer he realized it wasn't a prank letter and was indeed going to be a wizard. Indigo felt proud of himself at first, reveling in the fact for the first time his parents were fully focused on him rather than his siblings, and with his usual air of arrogance and show offiness Indigo was sorted into Gryffindor. He tried his best to be his usual energetic self and make as many friends as he could, wanting to cement his place as the class clown early, a feat he nearly achieved in his first year before he once again became a victim of bullying by his peers. Indigo going into his second year let this bullying fester in his heart as sadness and resentment, growing up with a sense of apathy and vengeance he began to bottle up. He felt helpless, like being a wizard was a cruel punishment that had promised him glory and recognition he had never felt before, only to make him feel as small and worthless and as unremarkable as he felt before he learned about his magic.
Indigo's life at home at the same time, also didn't improve. The feeling of being the center of attention in his family was short lived and just as quickly as his parents seemed to focus on him, they seemed to forget and focus on his younger sister who considered herself to be the star of the family, loving learning music and starring in her school's theater productions that had took up all of his parent's time. Indigo felt lonely and misunderstood, given his family never really understood what his magical abilities meant or saw what he was learning because they were so far removed from the magical world. Indigo's third year at school was characterized by this, where he began to clown around more and spend more time with his friends in an effort to compensate for how otherwise lost and alone he felt.
It wasn't until Indigo's fourth year or so that he found his calling in the form of writing articles for the school paper, rediscovering what he believed at the time to be a genuine sense of self worth and notoriety from seeing other students read his stories and take an interest in something he was creating. It was like something had finally clicked into place for him, pieces of the identity he had wished to create coming to fruition for the first time, and in wanting to never lose the feeling of others wanting to hear his thoughts being wanted for the first time in his life, Indigo dove into his work with the school paper with blatant enthusiasm. He worked hard throughout the rest of his schooling, becoming close with the other members of the paper and in his fifth year getting together with his first girlfriend, and then later in his sixth year after breaking up with her, getting together with his first boyfriend as well. Indigo had begun to realize who he truly felt he was, and focused vehemently on his friendships at school, in the fray of this beginning to fully isolate himself from his family in favor of his life of a wizard because it was the only thing that made him happy.
Indigo's later years in school were defined by his work on the school paper, where he had worked to become the editor in chief of by his seventh year, leading into his decision to follow his dream of being a real journalist. His grades upon his graduation were average at best but with his goal of being a real reporter on the forefront of his mind and the portfolio he had gathered from his work on the school paper he felt he would be invincible, the 'next big thing' and that he would have job offers thrown at him from every direction. He left Hogwarts with a sense of optimism that his work would stand out for him, and the effort he had put in to better himself as a writer would be worth it.
ADULTHOOD
After Indigo graduated, he realized the dream life he had envisioned of being a published and renowned journalist after school would be much harder to achieve than he originally thought. The field of writers and journalists seeking to be published was an other worldly form of competitive Indigo had never experienced before. So many different writers had new and inventive ideas for reporting, ones that outshone his own and in the midst of seeking out some form of paying job Indigo felt he was once again being forgotten in the world he had finally found some sense of identity. Indigo for the first couple of years freelanced, being published occasionally but with no real stable or substantial income, moving from his parent's house to live with his friends in a damp, old flat the four of them could barely afford most months as he tried to achieve some sense of the dream he had sought after since he was in school.
Through all the work he had done, Indigo still felt forgotten, like he didn't stand out enough whether it was within himself as a person or in his opinions for any paper to want to publish his stories, irregardless of the honesty of the information he had gathered. He had always gone out of his way to seek legitimacy to the point where by the time he had checked all his sources and managed to formulate an expose, the story had already been published with less genuine information and more speculation, the timing of the articles seemingly more important than any integrity. Indigo had attempted to avoid lowering himself to the same standards, but through a mix of both desperation and his ever present pursuit of glory he realized he needed to make a change in his values and himself. It was over the course of a few weeks that Indigo legally changed his name to Indigo Royale, his favorite nickname formalized and surname denoting he was a king creating an identity separate from himself and a role to play. He embodied the role of Indigo wholeheartedly from there, stories less honest but over time drawing more eyes to papers who agreed to print them, this leading to his first contracted, continuous role as a reporter for a competitor to the daily prophet in the UK.
Alongside the paper he worked for Indigo over many years went out of his way to try and break down the daily prophet's reputation among many other publications, discrediting the papers themselves and its associated journalists with little remorse and fact checking, in what would become true trash journalism with his quills inked in venom. Indigo was on cloud nine as he tried with little dignity to seek out any and all information he could to break down other publications while building up the paper he worked for instead, in this process building a reputation his paper that was negative in many ways but under the belief bad press was good press, and being noticed, albeit only in the field of journalists, and at that as the grime on the bottom of the shoe of real journalism, was better than being not noticed at all by Indigo's standards. No one knew who he was outside of his published words, no one recognized him in person outside of the world of journalism who had begun to despise his practices, and he was anything other than famous, but Indigo felt he was achieving the glory he had always wished for knowing his words, although toxic and at most times untrue, were speaking for him.
It was a press cycle that never ended, and Indigo played the caricature of himself in his stories to the fullest, embodying a toxic persona and with the success he experienced as part of this subsequently blinding him to any negative drawbacks of having such a notoriously trashy reputation. Indigo entered his thirties on a high note, having built himself a life and small fortune with his continued stories in the paper he worked for as he continually attempted to bring stories of the private lives of people in power and celebrities under a negative microscope. Indigo as he did mature while continuing to publish trash did also begin to sprinkle in some real stories, an effort he continues to make presently, but these were of course overshadowed by the gossip that had been published instead.
Indigo began to feel a change internally as he grew older, and had begun to educate himself further on real journalism again as this was what initially captured his love for reporting, all while continuing the cycle he had formed in his earlier years for the sake of maintaining his income. It was at this time he met a woman who he considered to be the love of his life, who worked in publishing and promised him a book deal in exchange for an insight into the world of publishing that the public outside of the journalism sphere would otherwise never understand. It felt like the chance for Indigo to have his name out there as a celebrity himself, for the glory he had always craved rather than being unknown in the grand scheme of things, and as he tried to work on this project with this woman they feel in love, she fell pregnant and he proposed, and when Indigo's daughter was born, Indigo felt like he was finally becoming the person he was destined to be. At least it felt that way, until seemingly out of nowhere his fiance broke up with him, leaving him for another man and also leaving their daughter behind. Indigo in shock and heartbreak was left to pick up the pieces of his life, throwing the still unfinished project they had been working on in the trash as he dropped his entire life to become a single parent and raise his daughter alone. Feeling like he had lost everything, it wasn't long after his daughter turned 4 that Indigo felt there was nothing else for him in England, and decided to pack up their lives and moved from the UK to New Zealand in the hope of finding a fresh start.
Since arriving to New Zealand and being unknown in the scope of journalism, Indigo has attempted to rebuild his persona from scratch, trying his best to balance real reporting of honest and sometimes shocking stories about the elite with his usual trashy gossip. He habitually has focused at more times on the trash stories because this still pays and it is most of what he knows about writing, but he is also trying harder than ever to be taken seriously as a journalist. He currently freelances to pay the bills while also is slowly trying to form together a publication of his own, where he can employ like minded reporters but also have full creative freedom of his work.
