Elijah, in his usual eclectic attire, stood out in a crowd. People stared at him as they passed and some whispered and giggled to each other seemingly unaware that he knew full well that he was the topic of their conversation and today was no exception. However being as used to it as he was and in as good a mood as he was he just smiled at the passers-by, which seemed to unnerve them a little.

Elijah didn't know why he was so happy, it might just have been because the weather was so good but he felt like today was going to be different. He stopped to take a seat on a bench, so he could take in his surroundings and not be too in the way. He brushed his dark brown hair out of his eyes as he looked around, the sky was a brilliant shade of blue, few clouds were overhead and the sun was shining. A large amount of people were out which made viewing much of his surroundings difficult. Sighing he got up, and looked around to decide where to head to next.

After spending her morning walking, Amber found herself in brightstone village. It was nice to get away from home for a change, and breathe in the fresh air while she could before school started again. Being away from all the stress with Katie felt unusually comfortable, and although this new found comfort was blissful, Amber still wanted to return to school no matter how cheerful she felt while at home. This was due to the plain and simple fact that she didn't like to feel alone. During the holidays the fifteen year old was alone in her empty house, with nothing but silence deafening her. Returning to school would make sure there was always something for her to do, so she could keep her mind busy and not think about being so alone. But in the meantime the Hufflepuff was going to browse through the stores in the village, and buy something new to keep her busy until the semester began. Quickening her pace, Amber skipped down the street, to notice something different. A person wearing an unusual outfit had just stood up from sitting at a bench to look around. Were they lost? Amber wanted to help them if they didn't know where to go. She was familiar with the village from visiting with Katie during the school year, but she didn't know it like the back of her hand. Not knowing if she would be much of a help, Amber approached the stranger anyway, a cheerful smile spread across her face. "Do you need any help to find where you're going?" she asked, continuing to smile while waiting for the stranger to reply.

Elijah stood where he was for what felt like a long time was still undecided as to where he should head off to when a young girl walked up to him smiling and seemed to think he was lost. "Oh, no I'm not lost. Just can't decide where I should head off too." He smiled back at her, "Where would you suggest as a good place to go?"

The girl seemed like a nice girl although a few years younger than himself. He began to wonder if the girl was here on her own, and tried to look subtly around to see if there was anyone who looked like they might be her friends or family. However no-one appeared to standing around waiting for her, he frowned slightly "You're not here on your own are you?" Concern slipped into his voice, it was the Christmas holidays she surely couldn't be alone.

Amber delayed answering the stranger's question. He wasn't lost after all, which meant that Amber had just made an idiot of herself, what a great first impression for him to remember. It seemed even through etiquette training as a child, Amber could not avoid being as awkward as the next teenager. The Hufflepuff gently kicked the pavement with her shoe, unsure of what to say next. Yes she could have answered the stranger's question but one obvious thing prevented her from answering straight away, which was that she didn't know brightstone well enough. Luckily before Amber answered the question, she was posed with another one. She immediately felt uncomfortable with the new question, but at least it meant she didn't have to embarrass herself a second time. The stranger seemed concerned, which meant the brunette needed to hide behind her usual façade. "I just thought taking a walk by myself would be fun." She answered, a brave smile taking over her features. Amber felt guilty lying to him, but she had to remind herself that she hadn't even caught his name yet. Attempting to keep the conversation going, the Hufflepuff returned the stranger's question. "You're not here on your own, are you?" she asked, her smile widening at the man.

Elijah noticed that the girl seemed uncomfortable, embarrassed maybe, he wasn't sure. Had he said something wrong? He couldn't think why she could be embarrassed or what he could have said to make her uncomfortable. He smiled at the girl, slightly apologetically in an attempt to make her feel more comfortable.

He didn't receive an answer to his first question, instead she answered his second. She smiled as she answered saying that walking alone was fun. At this he raised an eyebrow, yes he spent a lot of time by himself and sometimes it was nice but fun he thought was an odd word to choose. "Fun?"

He laughed as she returned his question. "Alright" He said still smiling "Yes I am but that is because I'm a misfit" Elijah paused "You do not seem like a misfit to me" He smiled kindly at the girl and it hit him that they didn't even know each others names. He held out his hand "I'm Elijah by the way, although feel free to call me whatever you like"
