Colton Kovac was looking worse and worse with each day that passed. It seemed like yesterday when he had foolishly let Gabrielle out of his life. He never thought that it would ever happen. He had even tried to seek her out after he recovered from his weird chest pains of a broken heart. Colton tried to go back to her old place, only to fail, remembering that Xavier said that she was gone before shutting the door. Colton was desperate. When he entered to work the next day, he begged for his boss to tell him what he knew, and the boss only said that she was on a temporary leave. Nothing about where she was or who she was staying with. He knew better than to talk to Alyssa Chevalier, and avoided her like the plague. Colton figured that he would never find out where she was, and wondered how he would ever see her again, which he wanted to desperately. He had made the mistake to not say anything, and he had wanted to, but fear stopped him. If he could take it back, Colton knew that he would in a heartbeat. Colton wanted to give her everything, and wanted everything for her but could not provide it when she wanted. When she wanted the answer, he was put under pressure and that caused him to freak out. He could not say or do anything, except stand there like a human in front of a dragon about to attack. He was at a loss for doing anything right and he felt really bad about what he had done, and wondered if she did not believe in love, then maybe she would not have asked in the first place. Perhaps she did love him but he was realizing all too late.
Entering into Saint Mungo's to start his shift, Colton had noticed how the staff was slowly starting to avoid him. Ever since that day, he had been a lot colder and even more bitter than before he had met and started dating Gabrielle Snow. Everyone had noticed his behavior, but it was all because he had no idea how to handle all the emotions that he was feeling right now. There was so much on his mind, so much on his chest, he could not even function properly. His dress was not as neat as before, his hair was messed up even worse than before. His skin was paler. His eyes had dark circles around them because he had little sleep at night. Colton could not function properly without the love of his life around, and he did not have her anymore. And he needed her. Colton felt like he was losing his sanity, and losing his mind, but he had to stay in focus. He reached his office, and he opened the door after unlocking it before he managed to get behind his desk and sit down. All around him, he had unfinished letters that he was writing to Gabrielle. He had sent off countless finished ones, but he never received a reply. She must really hate him by now and was wondering if he had really lost her for good. Did he not get a second chance? Was there something in the stars that said that he could not have the love that he needed? Colton folded his arms across his desk, and set his head on his arms. He closed his brown eyes and images of that blonde beauty flooded his mind. He still had her necklace around his neck, and still remembered all the good times. Sometimes he went into the bedroom and just sat in there, hoping and waiting that she would come back. But was she ever going to come back?
