It wasn't unusual for Lyra to skip breakfast most mornings. She had a nasty habit of hitting snooze on her alarm too many times which caused her to be late much too often. Luckily, Lyra never spent too much time getting ready in the mornings unless it was for a special occasion like one of the school dances. Going to work at her mum's shop was definitely not one of those occasions. So naturally, around noon, Lyra's stomach was growling as loudly as a tiger. Most days, Lyra tried to wait to eat with James when they could take a break together when the crowd died down. Unfortunately, today would not be one of those days. The Gryffindor girl told Kiera she was leaving to go get food, offering to bring something back. Her mother was in the habit of skipping lunch unless Lyra made her take a break to eat. The brunette woman waved her off, but Lyra knew she would grab something for her mum anyways.

It was cold outside as Lyra shrugged her coat on over her casual dress and leggings. The brunette girl walked down the cobblestone path to the Three Broomsticks. It was the best option for lunch at this time of day, and it would be warm inside. Lyra pushed the door open and removed her coat. The fire was blazing in the fireplace, and the sixteen year old chose a seat at an empty booth nearby as the waitress rushed over to hand her a menu. Lyra quickly ordered her usual before pulling out a book from her back to read.

After only two years at Hogwarts New Zealand, Ezra had taken the decision to transfer back to Durmstrang to finish off his education. He had done all he could at the school, and as much fun as torturing James was, it had run its cause. While Durmstrang had become stale, it was more Ezra's speed, the people were more like minded, and for one more year Ezra could ignore the things that had made him leave in the first place. His changing of schools didn't stop him from spending the holidays in Obsidian harbour. He liked the whole, winter in the summer thing that New Zealand had going on.

There was a cool breeze in the air so Ezra buttoned his coat to the top and left the room he was staying in and headed to the three broomsticks. He was in there an hour drinking at the bar when he noticed a face he knew walk in. Lyra Potter. His brothers girlfriend. Ezra had had a role in breaking up James's last two relationships, and seeing his latest squeeze walk in to the pub he was in was almost destiny. Ezra smirked, ordered two more drinks and made his way over to the booth Lyra took a seat in. He placed the drinks on the table and slid in in front of her. "Ezra Cade, the pleasure is all yours,"

Lyra had only been sitting a moment when she heard someone slide into the seat across from her. The Gryffindor girl's green eyes looked up from her book, wondering who was sitting across from her. A boy, not much older than she was and vaguely familiar, placed a drink in front of her. She hadn't even started to open her mouth when he introduced himself. She closed her book and put in back in her bag. So, this was James's brother. That's why he looked so familiar. Lyra didn't really know that much about Ezra, other than his name and James hated him. His statement annoyed her though. "Lyra Potter, and I assure you the pleasure is most certainly yours." she said, raising her nose in the air. "So does that line ever really work for you?" she asked, genuinely interested in his response. "Because it's just the worse." Lyra said, brutally honest.

Ezra's smirked at Lyra's reaction, he could see why James liked her so much. "I know your name, you're my brothers girlfriend, though I can't see why someone like you would be with a loser like him," Ezra laughed and took a sip from his drink. "I do okay with it, mostly I say it because its true, though it is certainly a pleasure to meet you," Ezra eyed her. He had to give it to his brother, he had good taste.

Lyra wasn't surprised that Ezra knew who she was as her family was well known in New Zealand. At least the papers focused more on her uncle these days instead of her parents. Of course, she had been dating James for nearly a year. It was really long overdue for Lyra to meet Ezra. "James isn't a loser. I wouldn't date him if he was." the Gryffindor girl asserted confidently in a tone that implied she was never wrong. Now that Lyra knew who he was, she picked up the drink. She got a strong smell of liquor as she brought the drink up to her mouth and was fairly confident it was firewhiskey . Lyra returned it to the table without tasting any of it.

"Aren't you very confident in yourself?" the brunette mused with a smirk on her lovely lips. She looked straight into Ezra's eyes with her own bright green eyes that clearly showed her curiousity. She was interested to know more about the brother James had been so quiet about as she didn't really note any similarities in them so far. "Did you know who I was before you came over here?" Lyra asked, interested in his response.
