Fourth Years Lesson Four

This would be the last lesson that Geo would need to talk about the Unforgivable Curses in depth, and while she wasn't looking forward to this one either she was glad that it would soon be coming to an end. She stood at the head of the classroom waiting for her fourth years to take their usual seats, before jumping straight into the lesson.

The former Auror of course had no intention of showing the effects of the killing curse to the teenagers. Quite frankly no one needed to witness it first hand, regardless of the methods used. "The Killing Curse," the woman began, watching to make sure everyone was paying attention, "results in instantaneous death. While quick and painless, and with no trace that it's been used, you can probably imagine why this spell is unforgivable. There is only one person who is known to have survived it, and I'm sure you all know his story by now." While there was no way to stop the killing curse from being successful, it was certainly important to make sure that one had their shield spells at the ready.

The woman turned to write the spell on the board, a notion that she didn't particularly agree with given that this knowledge in the hands of fourth years wasn't exactly an encouraging prospect, but one she tried to remind herself it was important for them to know in case they came across it in their own lives. "If used, a bright green spark will emit from the end of the wand, and without much more than a single flash, a life will end." Not wanting to linger on the effects for too long, Professor Adler continued, "If you have any questions feel free to come and speak to me, otherwise that's it for today, no homework." There would be plenty of time for extra work but after learning about the Killing Curse, today was not it.
