Fourth Years, Lesson Four

"Let's get straight to this today, as I want to make sure we're careful and have enough time to harvest all the pus." Professor Adelia was very excited to see how well the students would go today and was eager to start her lesson. On the tables at the front were buckets filled with vial. "Now; gloves, goggles, work aprons, buckets and follow me." SHe put on her gear and went with them to the still silvery grounds of Bubotubers.

"Watch me carefully. You would have done this in potions, but for those who haven't, I am going to show you." Trina held up one of the bottles from her bucket to the plant. It wriggled slightly as she put the bottle close to the boils and carefully squeezed each one. When they burst, it sprayed the yellow-green pus into the bottle. "If you hold your bottle like this," sHe showed them how to hold it at an angle over the boils, "you won't get a nasty splash back in your face. Now fill each bottle up and you'll be done for the day."

Trina motioned for them to get started before beginning to walk around and watch their progress to be there for any questions. Once they were all done, she had them lug their heavy buckets into the greenhouse and place them carefully into the large trough basin in the corner, by the sink. "You did well today! Go grab something to eat and I'll see you next lesson. Class dismissed."

Apolline had been having a good semester, things were generally falling into place for her, the only issue was her brother. She had known that Henri would be difficult, but it seemed he didn’t attend half his classes, and when he did barely did anything. She had found out in speaking to him about it, and was trying to coral him into going to more classes. But she wasn’t sure how much it had worked. She just didn’t want him showing up their mum though she knew he really didn’t care about that. Apolline grabbed the last few things she needed and then headed to find her brother and drag him to class.

Apolline walked into the herbology classroom and took her usual spot in the room. She glanced up at the professor before they were told what they were to do. She made sure she put on the work robes, gloves and goggles and followed the professor out with the bucket. She watched at the professor demonstrated how to do it, and then let them get started on it. She got started immediately. Making sure that she was doing it carefully, not wanting to end up with any of it on any aspect of exposed skin. Eventually she had managed to get the bucket filled and brought it back to the class. Then she was able to pack up and head out of the room.

Kyousuke found herbology more annoying than anything. The practical side simply didn't appeal to him, but he persisted nonetheless. He wasn't going to complain like his younger sister would. He noted that there was a substitute professor but made not comment - as long as someone was preparing him for exams, he didn't mind who it was. After watching the professor demonstrate harvesting the pus, he got together the necessary equipment and began it for himself. He wasn't too efficient at first, the pus not coming out particularly quickly, but he soon figured out a knack to get it flowing better. It was all in the method of squeezing, he found, and soon filled his bottle up. It was disgusting work but Kyousuke was determined to do well and so with the bottles full, he finished up for the day.

Steps to Harvest Bubotuber Pus
1. Put on your work robes, gloves, and goggles.
2. Bring the lid of the bottle up to a pustle. Angle it slightly to catch the pus.
3. Squeeze the pustle carefully, not too much or too little.
4. Collect the pus until the bottle is full.
5. Cap the bottle.
6. Repeat the process as much as needed.
