Maria had never heard of a student lounge before, well her old muggle school back in Picton did have one, but she had never heard of one in conjunction with Hogwarts, probably because the House Common Rooms mostly filled that function. However the be or not to be question, she found the place interesting, since it gave the students from different Houses a lot more opportunity to socialise, than compared to only by the mealtimes. Nevertheless, exploring could be done later, even if she really wanted to, since right now Maria had a bunch of textbooks to understand.
So with all the usual eagerness and energy, she was flipping through her books and going over her notes, well, whatever notes she did have since it was still only the first week into the school year and they've only covered indroductory lessons as yet.
