Wood: Oak wands are excellently reliable no matter the situation they are found in - they withstand the greatest challenges and remain largely unscathed.
Core: Fwooper feathers make wands that are great for use in Charms and Care of Magical Creatures classes. The wand caster should be warned that they will likely have trouble casting the silencing spell though. If rumors about this wand core are to be believed, it is said to slowly drive the wand wielder mad.

Ernie is a cheerful guy who loves good conversations and getting to know people. But he does tend to get along with owls and other animals more then people, since at least they're usually less judgmental then people anyways. He hasn't always been the most stable person in the past, and tries to make up for it now that he is in a calmer place by trying to help out others when he gets the chance. He likes is job and makes an effort to enjoy the little things in life.

Growing up Ernie's parents had a rocky relationship at best. But when his father's magical nature was revealed when Ernie turned 11, it became even more strained. They divorced soon after and Ernie tried to make it in the magical world but with little support from his parents, he dropped out in his final year. He's spent most of his adult life aimless and traveling around the world. After falling on hard times and ending up in New Zealand he was taken in by Zelda and Waldo Wigham. With their help he started to clean himself up and started taking care of the animals that they rescue, taking special interest in the owls.
