Father
leon zephyr - leon grew up around magic and so he had a reasonably easy transition when he started at hogwarts scotland, sorted into hufflepuff. he was a year below kara while at school, and was vaguely aware of her when she appeared while leon was in his third year. it wasn't until later on in his life that they reunited, after leon found her name as the author of an article surrounding experimental charms. they reconnected while in new zealand, and fell in love with both one another and their surroundings. when kara fell pregnant, leon took her back to his hometown in the netherlands, where she gave birth to elio and a year later, isla. the couple married two years after the birth of their daughter. leon now works as a music distributor around europe, and elio gets his love of music from his dad.

Mother
kara zephyr - kara was born in belgium, europe, for the first few years of her life. when she received her letter at 11, her parents considered it to be a joke and refused to sent their daughter away on a train to Scotland. as a result, she attended a muggle secondary school until she was nearly 14 years old. at this point, kara had managed to develop a number of things she couldn't explain, and was struggling to be able to hide. after a few years of this, her parents were witness to kara levitating the couch in the living room, and reluctantly sent her to hogwarts scotland for her fourth year and was sorted into gryffindor. she graduated at 18 with four newts, including potions, Charms, comc and astronomy, and now works to support the transfer of students to other schools.

Younger Sister
isla zephyr - a former hufflepuff student, elio isn't close with his younger sister at all. although they share a common interest in that they both love music, elio feels like isla purposely does things to try to get a reaction out of him. for the first few years at school isla would often try to steal from him and hoard his belongings in her dorm. additionally, he doesn't like her choice of friends and she's never seemed to be supportive of his either. since graduating he barely speaks to isla and likewise, she makes very little effort to stay in touch with him.

honey rowan kaster - the daughter of chrysander kaster was ultimately raised by elio and rowan for the majority of her childhood while they lived in new zealand. despite elio's past with chrys and his life plans that never included children, elio got on incredibly well with honey and loves to take care of her. he finds her fun to be around and enjoys sharing inside jokes, her humour often reminding him of himself at her age. as honey's unofficial guardian, elio is very protective of her and as she grows he knows he'll be there as much as she needs him.

Soul Mate
rowan baros - elio met rowan in his fourth year, when the gryffindor was in his astronomy class and they shared a blanket one night during the lesson. elio had been in scotland for the year previously and hadn't spoken to her during his first years at school, so the pair didn't talk until this point. they quickly found however that they had a lot in common, including the same interests, humour and friends. while at school, rowan kissed elio before he had told her he was attracted to guys, which made things awkward for the pair for a while, and had elio asking himself whether he'd given the wrong impressions. after some time however their relationship was repaired, before elio found that rowan loved him. he found that he was romantically attracted to rowan too, and over the year he admitted that he'd fallen in love with her, too. this confused him greatly and he questioned himself for a good few years.
during their fifth year, rowan tried to break up with elio believing that their relationship wouldn't be sustainable in the long run, and while elio was initially willing to let her go, he asked to her stay. that he'd put the part of himself that was attracted to guys behind him for the love of rowan and wanting to be with her. he believed this was more important than anything and anyone else. despite the strange circumstances, this worked for them and the pair managed to make their open relationship work.
on rowan's 16th birthday, her twin sister elsie was in car accident that spun everything 180 degrees, but especially effected rowan. during their sixth year, rowan spent most of her time in elio's dorm, curled up in his bed and refusing to look after herself and as a result, elio took care of her.
after they'd graduated, rowan and elio decided to travel as they were both enthusiastic photographers and this would be a good way to see the world and document their travels. upon their return, they created a photography business together and worked as partners to see the company to be a success. shortly after they'd returned home however, they were also presented with another challenge. chrysander kaster now had a daughter that he couldn't look after. elio and rowan raised his daughter honey for the most part and from a very young age, and the three of them became their own albeit unusual, family.
elio considers rowan to be his soul mate because she knows him inside out. although as they grow older they're turning into different people, he believes that they're evolving together and that together they're the complete package. rowan and elio have both sacrificed part of their lives for one another for over a decade, but there's no one he'd rather spend his life with.

Best Friends
avaria lockwood - ava was elio's first friend when they were a first year, the ravenclaw making him feel instantly at ease in the new environment. ava has seen elio both at his best and his worst, and has always been there for him whenever he needs someone to talk to. he's very interested in her artistic career, and let her give him the majority of his tattoos. although the pair once dipped their toe in the romantic pond, they quickly established it wasn't a good idea nor something they wanted, but have been firm friends over the years.
alice holland - alice was another student that was part of his friend group at school, a hufflepuff who was good at bringing everyone together and making sure everyone felt included. elio had a number of chats with alice over the years and feels like he could talk to her about most subjects. elio hasn't seen alive since graduation however, but remembers their friendship from school fondly.

Friends
chrysander kaster - chrys has an effect on elio that is unmatched by anyone else he's come across so far in his life. there has always been a great deal of chemistry between them, especially when elio was at school with the hufflepuff. elio has also always struggled showing an emotional side of himself to other guys, preferring instead to befriend girls as he feels more secure in himself, however currently chrys is the only person to have slightly broken that wall. in their adulthood, chrys asked rowan and elio to take care of his daughter honey, for which elio will always be grateful to him for as he no longer can imagine his life without honey in it. his relationship with chrys, while he still cares about him, is now more focused on honey rather than their own status.
zennon baros - rowan's older brother zennon has always been friendly and welcoming to elio, despite their strange circumstances. elio respects zennon and admires him, finding their conversation easy when they do get a chance to catch up. the former slytherin is best friends with leda too, which means he continues to be part of an inner circle of friends, and between them they're able to look out for those they care about.
ilija olaf - elio didn't talk to ilija much while they were at school, as the hufflepuff was incredibly shy which was always the opposite of elio, although they were in the same friend group. however the pair have always been connected in some way, either through mutual friends or mutual career projects. he only speaks to ilija now through leda's paper, however he knows that ilija and rowan are back on speaking terms.
agnes baros - although elio doesn't talk to the former slytherin much since she left new Zealand elio was close with agnes when they were at school, especially when agnes became elsie's girlfriend. after elsie passed elio wished he could have done more to look out for agnes, but he was understandably preoccupied with rowan.
marco mariani - had things been different in his fourth year, elio thinks he would have dated the hufflepuff for a substantial amount of time. he was the first person elio had a proper crush on, and the pair had made things official in their fourth year. however things that year also took an unexpected turn when elio met rowan and their plans quickly changed. he still considers marco to be a good friend.

leda layton - elio is less friends with the former slytherin as much as everyone he seems to know, also knows leda. he tolerates her more than enjoys her company, but finds her to be a good person when he needs to submit work to her paper.
