Edward is a charismatic and witty man who wants to support his students as best as he can and get involved with school life. Growing up he was always reckless, though his reckless tendencies have dampened with age and life experiences. Edward has an easygoing demeanour which makes him approachable. He takes his duties as a teacher seriously and can be hard on his students when it is appropriate to be so. Students who mistake his humour for leniency quickly discover his strict standards when it comes to behaviour and mastering Transfigurations in the classroom.

Edward Pirrip is a muggleborn who grew up in Chelsea, London, to a wealthy family. The only child of Edward Pirrip Sr. (yes there is a whole long line of them going back pretty far) and Fiona Hanslip-Forth (both now sadly deceased). Edward had a privileged upbringing but always felt out of place in the strict and formal elite social circles his parents lived in. He left that world for Hogwarts Scotland where he felt he had the freedom to truly be himself and master his magic. He made a name for himself on the Quidditch team as a chaser and a top student, achieving O grades across all his subjects.

Edward had a lot of girlfriends during his time at Hogwarts, but there was one girl he wanted who always seemed unavailable. She was Ailish Walsh, a fellow Gryffindor who after years of chasing, would later become his wife. After graduating Edward became an Auror but after a few years, decided that London was not for them. The couple decided to start fresh and emigrated to New Zealand, where they married and began building a life together. Their relationship has always been full of love and loyalty, though not without challenges. The couple endured the heartbreak of losing their first child to stillbirth, a loss that still profoundly affects both of them to this day. Though Ailish became pregnant again and they welcomed their son, Teddy, into the world. Edward is an immensely proud father to Teddy, who is a topbstudent at Hogwarts New Zealand.
