NICKNAMES:
Deema - His late mother used to call him this as a child. Though he has not much memory of the nickname, all of his photo albums and belongings write "Deema" in his late mother's handwriting. No one uses this nickname anymore.

MEANING:
Dmitri - Derives from Dimitri, a boy's name of Russian origin meaning "follower of Demeter"
Yurievich - It is customary in Russia to use patronymics as middle names. Patronymics are derived from the father's given name and end with -ovich or -evich. Yurievich is the patronymic of Yuri.
Pieterse - Pieterse is a Dutch and Afrikaans patronymic surname. The surname was first used in the Netherlands before the colonial era. After the Dutch established a colony in the Cape of Good Hope

Dmitri was named after his grandfather, Dimitri.

Dmitri has a slight Russian accent, but it is not very noticeable as most of his time was actually spent with their governess who spoke in perfect English, instead of with his parents when he was younger.

LANGUAGES:
Dmitri can speak English, as well as Russian. He does know a little Dutch but it is limited to phrases and certain words.

He admires his father and understands his decision to remarry. Dmitri sees that his father still loves his late mother, but also loves his step-mother. In different ways, but still the same.
Step-Mother	Femke (Nee Jansen) Pieterse DOB: 27/01/2041 Blood Status: Mixed Blood Occupation: Ministry of Magic, Department of International Magical Cooperation Dmitri likes Femke enough. He doesn't trust her as that much, but he trusts his father's judgement.
Younger Brother	Lev Pieterse DOA: 17/04/2044 Blood Status: TBA Occupation: Child Dmitri hangs around Lev a lot. That being said, they have very different personalities and so clash a lot together. But Dmitri finds him to be the easiest to deal with. They play a lot of wizard chess together.
Younger Brother	Mikhail Pieterse DOB: 23/12/2045 Blood Status: TBA Occupation: Child Dmitri likes to play a lot with Mikhail but finds him a little difficult to reason or deal with. They still make jokes a lot and play around a lot but Mikhail plays more with the twins rather than with Dmitri.
Step-Brothers/The Twins	Coen Alberda & Espen Alberda DOB: 08/05/2047 Blood Status: Mixed Blood Occupation: Children Dmitri likes the twins a lot. They are trouble makers but he's used to taking care of his younger brothers enough to be able to deal with them. To Dmitri, the twins come in a package, they are almost never apart from each other.

APPEARANCE:
Dmitri has a striking resemblance to of when his father was much younger, with brown hair, brown eyes, and similar features, but his features are softer. He has straight-ish hair that is not too difficult to manage. He has a tall and lanky body type growing up and doesn't have much muscle to him as he's not too fond of sports or physical activity.

Others: He has a first-degree burn across his right arm that he usually hides with long sleeves. He's not necessarily insecure about it, in fact he doesn't mind talking about the event that caused it. But he doesn't like to show it. He thinks other people will be burdened by it.

HISTORY
Dmitri comes from old money. His father and mother both come from rich families full of witches and wizards here and there. His mother, Irina, being not too fond of muggles, prevented most interactions between her children and the muggles in St.Petersberg. So, Dmitri grew up mostly with the company of older magical children, his governess and his family. Dmitri's parents were usually busy working in the Russian Ministry of Magic but his mother was home more often than his father. Growing up, Dmitri spent most of his time being homeschooled, with his governess, studying language, speech and other things most children should know. He was a good student, who did most of his work pretty well.

When Dmitri was six, his mother and unborn sister passed away from a fire. He does not remember much about this event but he does have small recollections of it, mostly screams and flashes of fire. He was diagnosed with localised dissociative amnesia, forgetting most memories of his mother and of the house that burnt down during the fire. Out of the few things of Irina's that survived in the fire, Dmitri kept hold of photo albums, her old camera that didn't work anymore and a few books. After that year, his father travelled a lot out of grief, going to places his late-wife loved around the world. During his travels, he met Femke. While Dmitri's father was travelling, Dmitri and his siblings lived in their grandparent's house but were mainly put under the care of their governess. Dmitri took care of his siblings a lot, helping their governess as much as he could. Occasionally, he'd go to therapy and work out his feelings and amnesia, and soon he learned to love journaling and photography.

A couple of years later, when Dmitri was 10, Femke and his father married. Dmitri was not the biggest fan of Femke at first, but they soon warmed up to her to a certain degree. They moved to New Zealand, his father's decision for a change of scenery for the kids. Femke had two children of her own, Espen and Coen, from a past relationship that had not gone too well. The twins got along well with the Pieterse's and they became a pretty good family. In New Zealand, Femke and Dmitri's father managed to acquire a job at the ministry in New Zealand.

Dmitri is nervous but excited to go to Hogwarts, as he hasn't been around many other kids other than his siblings. He's excited to not only learn about magic but also about the muggle world and its wonders.

Other facts:
Dmitri used to be right-handed. But after the incident, he started using his left hand. Not many noticed this. Only his brother Lev and his Governess.
