Rue was late. There was no getting away from it. She hadn't Intented to be late, but she had no excuse as to why she was.
She hurried along the streets which were lit by tall lamps that seemed as tall as mountains to little Rue. She hurried her footsteps, anxious. She had been excited to meet her friend up until now. She had no idea what to say. A gust of wind blew Rue's hair out of the style she had put it in. She swore gently, and turned the corner. She was there, but she couldn't see him.
She walked up to the restaurant, feeling vunerable to muggers, and huddled herself inside her jacket. Surely he would turn up? He was her best friend, she was certain he would not make Rue look like a fool.
Suddenly, Rue spotted someone waiting the other side of the outdoor chairs. She didn't recognize him for a moment, but then her heart started to thump wildy.
'Dante?' She said, on the verge of tears already. She walked briskly towards him, and then when she was certain it really was him, threw her arms around his neck and hugged him. She was on tippy-toes, despite him being younger than him. She held onto him for longer than she could count, and then pulled away.
'God, I've missed you.' She said quietly, her eyes darting across his face.
