Appearance
Hair: Light brown, straight, still full, kept on the long side of short.
Eyes: A muddy blue-grey, and occasionally with too much of an "I'm innocent, I promise" look in them.
Height: Five foot ten
Build: Fairly average; he's fit, if not overly so, and was definitely of the atheletic persuasion at one point.
Style: Daniel tends to stick with solid color robes, and when he's wearing muggle clothes he thankfully has the ability to not pair stripes and plaid together, or a kilt and poncho. He has recently discovered ugg boots, and the haka.
Other Distinguishing Features: Due to having light skin and being a recent immigrant to New Zealand, Daniel is regularly a bearer of sunburn in some form, and has a growing population of freckles across his shoulders and back, and a smaller suburb of them on his face.
A Little Deeper
Personality: Daniel is first and foremost a wanderer and adventurer- it is how he made his way from England after graduating Hogwarts to the States for a few years before he returned to get a MoM position in the MLE for a total of two years to return to the States before he finally made his way to New Zealand. Something of an unmarriable fiend, Danny has never made it to being engaged, only dating, and dating, and dating, never settling or settling down, only continuing on, making friends and acquaintances, always not quite ready to settle down, no matter how tempting it might be, though now he hs no choice but to stay in one place, with the adoption of his godchildren.
Despite this hunger for adventure- which might come out of a partial want to not stay rooted and be 'proper', as his family would put it, Daniel is a loyal friend, and does his best to write regular letters to the friends he has made along the way and stay in regular contact, to the point where he was asked by friends he made in the States to become godfather for their children.
However much he enjoys wandering and travelling, and however much he enjoys the company of women, Daniel has at least enough common sense to not follow dubious routes of travel or ways to be employed and hasn't left behind any children born out of wedlock.
Special Talents/Abilities: Daniel appears to have an uncanny talent for Charms- enough of one that he was compared to a great-grandaunt of his who certainly did have the talent for it- though in all honesty it is drive and interest in the subject that let him excel in the subject while at school, and it is only matched by his interest (if not talent) in Quidditch. He makes for a decent Chaser for Quidditch, enough that he very briefly considered trying out for one of the league teams in the UK as a reserve player, but he shouldn't be allowed on a Quadpot field if anything is at stake.
After what was nearly a very fatal incident with a Lethifold on an Indian Burial Ground (how a lethifold was surviving in Tennessee is still a mystery to all who learned about the incident), Daniel practiced the Patronus charm, eventually managing to be able to produce a solid goose Patronus.
History: Daniel was born in 1989 to Joseph and Melissa Saunders during the first initial time of peace when the wizarding world appeared safe, for its standards, in Oxford. This illusion of safety of course was shattered in 1996 and stayed that way for two years during Voldemort's short but frightening return to power, and while Daniel was somewhat too young too be very effected or to know what was going on, his older brother Anthony-five years older than him- was at Hogwarts during this time and had plenty of stories for his younger brother in the summer of 1998.
Daniel started Hogwarts in September, 2000, was sorted into Gryffindor, fully expecting seven years of amazing adventures, and was somewhat disappointed at the lack of amazing adventure (which also probably contributed to his later habit of travelling), and applied himself to his classes, though a series of mysterious explosions in Gryffindor Tower during the 2003-2004 school year that were later attributed to "independent study" led to Daniel not becoming a prefect or head boy or being chosen as a Quidditch captain during his last years at Hogwarts and to him also having a close eye be kept on him to avoid any more explosive "independent study", though he learned his lesson and did not veer into any more experimentation with things that could result in unexpected explosions or large amounts of House points being lost. Wandering the castle and through Hogsmeade became favored activities instead.
Shortly after graduating, Daniel unexpectedly left for the States and worked for Gringotts for approximately five years as a Charmsbreaker and to maintain and create Charms on minor vaults in their American banks, which is where and how he met Augustus Allen and Carolina Dawson, becoming good friends with both of them, and was Augustus' best man when Carolina and Augustus married. He also agreed to be godfather to the young couple's children when they were born, Sally and Jason, and returned to the UK for two years from late 2013 to early 2016 to work as in the Ministry of Magic's MLE department before he returned to work for Gringotts once more in the states for another five year contract with plans to work for the UK branch upon returning. However, in mid 2021, tragedy struck the Allen family and both Augustus and Carolina died (due to what may or may not have been dubious circumstances), with their wills very plainly stating that Daniel was intended to be their children's guardian until they came of age.
Daniel finished his contract with Gringotts out, and then proceeded to move himself and the young Allens to Wellington, New Zealand, figuring it would be a good place for the two children to grow up in, away from the relative danger of the States and in someplace he himself had yet to visit (the choice having been between New Zealand and Australia).
