Her dad had done it again, he had ruined Christmas for her. Well technically it wasn't her dads fault, but his work was the bad guy. Elly her dad was a muggle doctor and he had been called to work. Some accident had happened and the hospital was left understaffed. Her dad had left ten minutes ago to go to the hospital he worked at. Elizabeth knew this could happen, but she had really hoped they were thoughtful of the situation. Her presents were still under the brightly lit tree and the fridge was already stocked with the Christmas dinner. Her dad had given her two options either go to the village and grab something to eat there or go with him to the Christmas dinner at the hospital. Obviously she picked for the first option and dad had promised that he would call her if he was done at the hospital. But she shouldn't have her hopes up that it was going to be early. Elly grabbed a vest from its hanger and closed the door behind her. The weather was lovely today and that had brightened her mood significantly already. It was not her dads fault and he did love her to bits. On the way to Brightstone village she spotted people with large bags of presents or groceries all bustling to get to their families. The realisation that she was alone with Christmas hit her at that time. She was kind of jealous at those people. They had a family to go to and she only had a empty house with a full fridge at the moment. The village was obviously better then to eat dinner with the hospital staff. I mean they were nice and all, but that was not what she wanted. After a couple of minuites she arrived at Brightstone village is wasn't as busy as it usually was. Most people were probably at home celebrating Christmas already. Elly sat down at a wooden bench and tried to think what she wanted to do next.

Being excited was an understatement. Sara was so happy to be visiting New Zealand, she finally got to see her older brothers again. Her parents had left her because they had some unfinished business and said they'd be celebrating Christmas later, tonight, when they were done. The young girl had therefore decided to take a look at brightstone village, as she walked along and examined all shops. Of course she'd had permission from mom and dad, as both parents knew she could be quite independent when she wanted to be.
Right now, she had no choice but to be responsible, even though it felt slightly lonely. She was expecting to spend Christmas with her brothers at least, but they were still at school and were packing change for the next couple of weeks considering they were to stay in the country, so wouldn't have anything to wear otherwise. She stopped walking, as she looked around her, now lost. Noticing a girl around her own age, Sara smiled and went over to her. "Hi!" She waved, excited to see somebody who wasn't an adult. The ten year old sat down next to her on the bench. She suddenly felt tired from walking so much. She needed to make a friend, it was what cheered her up most of the time.

Elizabeth looked around and saw a girl around her age walking towards her. She looked kind of lost, maybe she was alone at Christmas too. ''Hello'' Elly wasn't really in the mood to talk. Most people had the most wonderful day of their lives today, but Elly had one of the worst. She hated when her dad had to work. Sometimes it was fun being alone at home, but not at special days. Elly forgot that she had been silent for over a minute and felt the need to say something. ''I am Elizabeth by the way.'' She didn't even bother to say Elly, if the girl wanted to call her that she could of course. ''Shouldn't you be with your family celebrating christmas?'' Elly muttered her mouth pouted.

Sara shook her head at the girl's words. She had often thought as to why she was not spending enough time with her family and parents during Christmas and sometimes she hated the day, just because she wasn't with her brother's and sister. They were at Hogwarts. "I'm Sara," she gave Elizabeth a small smile. "No. I'm only celebrating tonight, when my parents are done working," her voice quieter than she had expected. The young girl frowned at her own words. Christmas was meant to be celebrated the whole day in her opinion, at night it was basically over. Although the ten year old was really young still, she couldn't help but doubt her parents. Were they really working or did they just want some time for themselves? It wasn't fair, and Sara wasn't understanding a thing about why they were constantly leaving her alone. "What about you?" She asked Elizabeth, wondering the same thing as her. No one should be out alone on this day, especially not young girls such as themselves. One way or another Sara was going to be with her family today, she just needed to figure out how she'd go about achieving that.

So the girl her name was Sara. The name Sara sounded lovely and sweet. When Sara told that her parents had to work as well, she was kind of relieved. That meant she was not the only one without someone to celebrate Christmas with. Her dad wouldn't be home before twelve probably. ''Ah'' Elly nodded slowly. When the girl asked what she was going to do Elly thought about lying. I mean she didn't want to be a sad lonely girl on freaking Christmas day. But her mind quickly went to another subject of if she had fed Jynx enough. But then again she wouldn't be away for the whole day and the neighbours had a key. The truth was always better than a lie, but then again white lies were allowed in Elly her eyes. ''Eh.. my dad is a doctor at the local hospital and he got called to work since there was some emergency'' Elly paused ''He probably won't be in until really late tonight'' Elly decided to tell the truth, Sara seemed genuine at least. ''I got my kitten at home though, but she doesn't really know what Christmas is.'' Elly laughed, sometimes she wished if her kitten could talk. There could be a possibility that she hated her to the bone or she would demand more food.

"Oh, I hate it when they do that," Sara sighed. "Parents have a way to leave you alone somehow somewhere, even when it's not on purpose." The Italian ten year old knew what she said wasn't always entirely true but she did feel resentment towards ma and pa considering they never gave her a proper, detailed truth. They also never apologised about suddenly leaving her, for example today. They didn't say sorry. They probably weren't. She dismissed those thoughts for now. At least she was with company. "I'm not allowed pets," she stated to Elizabeth. "My mom doesn't like to keep animals in the house. I'll be sure to get one when I go to school next year though," she giggled. Just to have the experience every child should have growing up.

Elly her mom stayed at home a lot when Elly was in England. She did not want to miss a moment with her daughter. Her dad couldn't do that otherwise people would die in the hospital. ''I know and my dad doesn't do it on purpose'' Elly mumbled ''If doesn't go people will die.'' Elly sighed, she wished her dad was at home waiting for her to celebrate Christmas. But her dad was not home, he was working hard probably. ''My mom didn't allow any pets either. And it was better if I didn't have any'' Dragging a pet across the world every year was not something you would want for a pet. ''What kind of pet do you want?'' Elly couldn't pick a pet and her dad definitely didn't want an owl at home. So she ended up with cat. Because she was staying with her muggle dad she wasn't allowed to have a magical pet. So that boat had already sailed and frogs were just yucky. ''Are you excited to go to Hogwarts?'' The girl had an Italian accent and Elizabeth wondered why she going to New Zealand for her school.
