Grace - Latin name meaning 'favour' or 'blessing'. Grace was her paternal grandmother's name.
Cartwright - old English name meaning 'maker of carts'.

Callie lives in a detached three-bedroom house in London with her grandmother. The outside is very neat; there are no weeds in sight, and every rock and plant seems to have been painstakingly arranged to satisfy someone's compulsions. The inside evokes a similar feeling. The place has quite a clinical feel to it; the furniture is expensive and shiny, the carpets perfectly clean, and almost everything is a shade of white or grey. Only in Callie's room is there the odd splash of colour, though she has to keep her space neat and tidy too, or else risk being grounded.

Callie's style is quite plain - she often wears round-neck shirts, collared shirts, and simple blouses in muted colours. A plain round-neck shirt, maybe cropped, and a pair of flared jeans (or denim shorts in summer) would be a typical casual outfit for her. She also enjoys dressing up and is happy for any opportunity to wear dresses, strappy shoes, and jewellery. She just doesn't tend to express herself that much through her fashion. She'll wear what's convenient rather than going out of her way to look great all the time.

Callie attended a muggle preparatory school in London from the age of 4-11. She was fairly popular at school, but tended to be selective about who she spent time with. Her best friend was a boy called Aster who was shy and had difficulty socialising. They were an odd pairing, considering Callie is outgoing and often boisterous, but she enjoyed his quiet company, and she felt very protective over him, often standing up to his bullies without his knowledge. She enjoyed Science and Maths, took part in several sporty and academic extracurricular activities, and decided early on that she wanted to be a paediatric oncologist when she grew up.

		Callie is, on the whole, a sweet, intelligent young girl with a big heart and a proclivity for mischief. Raised by her wealthy grandmother and sent to a preparatory school at a young age, she's a little out of touch with the world; her typical problems are the sorts of problems that a lot of kids would kill to have. Some might called her spoiled, though she would argue that she's never been spoiled in her life, as her grandmother rarely ever gives her what she wants. She simply isn't aware of how lucky she is. Sociable and bold, Callie has no issues making friends. Still, she's often selective about who she spends time with. The 'popular' kids at school are often the mean ones, and although Callie cares about her reputation, she'd rather be good and right than well-liked. Unfortunately, this need to be right and preserve her image often gets her into trouble. She's a bit of a teacher's pet; she'll throw you straight under the bus if she catches you breaking a rule, and she'll think she did the right thing. Her dream is to become a prefect one day, and it is not difficult to see why. When it comes to work and school, Callie is passionate and devoted to the things she cares about. Before she discovered she was a witch, she wanted to be a paediatric oncologist when she grew up - and to an extent, she still does. She focuses easily on her studies and enjoys spending long hours in the library, absorbing as much as she can about her favourite subjects. Disturb her in the middle of a study session, and you'll likely meet with great irritation. Callie's passion goes hand-in-hand with her stubbornness. She won't often back down when she believes she's right, and she has been known to talk back to authority regardless of the consequences. Nothing infuriates her more than being dismissed because she's a child. She may be young, but she knows (or at least thinks she knows) she's intelligent. Indeed, she is academically intelligent, but it could be said that she is socially somewhat naïve. Despite having a grandmother who works for the Security Services, she's often oblivious to danger. You certainly couldn't call her street smart. Overly trusting and quick to find the good in everybody, her judge of character leaves much to be desired. In others, Callie values honesty, vulnerability, and kindness. She doesn't often allow herself to be vulnerable, yet she admires those who are not afraid to cry or talk about sensitive and difficult topics. Above all, however, she appreciates people who are genuinely kind. Callie is willing to give a lot to those she cares about. She'll be a listening ear, an ally, a cheerleader, or whatever you want her to be. Some people in her life have taken advantage of this, so it takes her a little while to open up to people and show them this warm, caring side of herself, but if you do manage to earn her trust, you'll have a very loyal friend who'll fight with you and for you, unwaveringly. ​
