Closed Before the Dance

[Lorelai Gates]

Lorelai had decided in her pajamas to go down to the dance just to go get herself some snacks. She skipped down the stairs, humming an old rhyme to herself as she bounced from step to step. She continued the game across the common room, tiking wide steps until she finally made it out of the common room and to the hall outside. She didn't look up at first, singing the words under her breath as she continued to hop from foot to foot across the stones.

Enoch felt a little bad, he hadn't sent any roses, expected none back. Expected to just spend the day alone, had even decided that he wasn't going to go to the dance, but then he'd gotten one, from Lorelai and he felt bad. She was just being nice to him, for whatever reason, but she was and he didn't want to be that mean back. He had come to the seventh floor, a slightly old rose in his hand, and he was waiting for her. "Hey, Lorelai," he called.

Lorelai paused on one foot, wobbling for balance. She looked up with wide eyes, just before she lost herself and fell onto her bum. She landed with a quiet 'oof'. After a split second she giggled, folding her legs and putting her hands in her lap. "Hi Enoch!" She greeted. "What's up?"

Enoch watched with a confused expression as she fell. He stepped towards her and offered out a hand to help her back to her feet, though she seemed perfectly content on the ground. "I just wanted to say thanks, for the rose, I didn't send one back," he told her. Not giving himself an excuse, just stating the fact.

Lorelai smiled, accepting the hand and letting him pull her up to her feet. "You're welcome!" She countered brightly, not minding. "It's okay- I was just happy to give you one," She reassured him, trying to keep his hand longer than he probably intended. "Did you like it?" She asked, looking up to him with an easy grin.
