Teddy reclined on a bench and sighed, a grin on his face for the first time in a while. Alfie and Jessi had offered to look after the children, once they realised just how much time they took up, so he could have the afternoon off by himself without worrying. He had spent the beginning of it going over all that had happened in the past few months. The death of his father, dropping out of school, Stacy's declining health, and now the death of almost all of his mothers family. Teddy hadn't spoken to his mother, or her baby, in a while.
Teddy had, since then, pushed it all out of his head in the effort to relax for once. He had actually paid for dinner which was something he had grown accustomed to skipping, the lunch and the paying for it. Just before his dad died, Teddy had gone through a rough patch and had gotten used to being sly enough to steal things. Now that he didn't have much money, that habit had come in handy for birthday presents.
The teenage boy was spread out across the bench, making it impossible for anyone else to sit near him without checking first. He always found it rude when people just sat down whenever and wherever they felt like it. It felt like someone was trying to invade his personal space.
Teddy let his mind wander away as he closed his eyes. He steadied his breathing so, to the untrained eye, it appeared he was sleeping. He found he got bugged less when he was 'asleep', something that had come in handy. Either people wanting to leave him alone to rest or they thought he was a tramp and didn't want to go near him. Either suited him perfectly, no matter what he was usually undisturbed.
