Beaumont means 'beautiful mountain.' Both his parents just loved the name.
Rawiri is Maori for David and means 'beloved.' All his siblings have a Maori name to represent their birth and life in New Zealand.
Ollin is Native American and means 'movement.' All his siblings have a Peruvian name to represent their mother's heritage.
Jukka is a Finnish version of John, basically meaning "God is good." Beau's parents are not religious, but just liked the sound of Jukka. All his siblings have a Finnish name to represent their father's heritage.
Karhunlappi is a Finnish surname. Karhu means bear and Lapp basically means someone from Lapland. So it kind of means bear from Lapland ((but don't quote me on that, I'm just guessing from my limited knowledge of Finnish.))

Most people just call him Beau, although the majority of his friends spell it "Bo" (11 year-olds these days, what are you going to do?)
Hometown: Broad Bay, Dunedin, New Zealand.


Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff 1st year, but he thinks he belongs in Gryffindor. For this reason, he can be slightly antagonistic towards Gryffindorians. It's just envy.

Beau had found out about Hogwarts only a week ago. He was reluctant to leave his little sisters alone in Dunedin (although of course, his parents were there), but he was always up for a challenge, so was looking forward to this new school promising exciting things. His mother had told him once or twice throughout his childhood that she was a squib, and that he would understand what that meant someday. He figured it had something to do with this magical world.

He'd chatted away to anyone who looked friendly or scared on the train, but was silenced in awe of the Great Hall when he entered it. Woah! This place was awesome! He listened and laughed away to himself as the mangy old hat on the stool sang and other students took their turn on the tiny seat. When they called "Karhunlappi, Beaumont," he grinned, wondering where he'd fit into this grand scheme of things. He walked on his solid legs to the front of the room and sat on the stool, hoping it wouldn't break, it looked so delicate. The hat was placed on his head and started talking to him! "Woah! Hey!" he tried to slow the thing down and stop it getting inside his brain. "Dude, put me somewhere fun."

"I think you'll have plenty of fun in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Wand:

Coconut is a perfect wood for spells involving handy work and is brilliant for defensive magic, the star dust adds an effect of mystery, and a mystical power to make powerful spells, even stronger. This wand is not for the quiet or shy.

Appearance

Basic Appearance: Beau is neither thin nor heavy-set, although he is more solid that skin-and-bone, and has a bit of puppy fat. He has deep liquid brown eyes, light olive skin and dark hair that he usually spikes or gels. He has an easy smile with one dimple on his left cheek.

Hair: Dark, worn short and usually spiked.
Eyes: Deep liquid brown. You could lose yourself in them. They seem ancient.
Height: 144cm (almost 4'9")
Style: Skatie (Skater boy)
Other Distinguishing Features: Dimple in his left cheek.

Family

Father: Jussi-Matti Karhunlappi (Matty), is a muggle and a general practitioner (doctor).
Mother: Xochiquetzal Karhunlappi (nee Dominguez) (Kit), is a squib from a mostly pure-blood line, and an anaesthetist (anaesthesiologist).
Siblings:
Firenze (Will) Wiremu Toltecatl Pekka Karhunlappi; 19; muggle at university (Physics).
Amelie Aroha Tlalli-Tuuli Karhunlappi; 17; muggle in high school.
Oscar Rongo Tochtli-Ilkka Karhunlappi; 15; muggle in high school.

When his mother drops him at the NZ Express to go to Hogwarts, she buys him a morepork (a native NZ owl) called Ruru, (the Maori word for morepork) and two Puffskeins, one gold and one black, (Hufflepuff colours) called Koura (the Maori word for gold) and Pango (the Maori word for black).

A Little Deeper

Personality: Beau is protective of those he loves, especially his two younger sisters. Other than that, he is over-confident (sometimes to the point of stupidity), friendly, smart but lazy (when it comes to applying himself), and energetic (physically).

Heritage: Mostly Finnish and Peruvian. There's a little Russian, Spanish and Saami in there, too. He was born and raised in New Zealand, though.

Interests or Hobbies: Beau loves skating (skateboard). He also likes to read comic books, play sports, generally go exploring, and hang out with his mates. He loves TV and will watch anything that's on.

Additional Skills: He's really smart in that he picks things up really quickly. However, he can't read very well.

Strengths: Beau is confident, friendly, smart, loyal and will become athletic when he grows out of his awkward early-teen clumsiness.

Weaknesses: He is lazy, doesn't think things through clearly, has a disregard for rules and authority and can be annoyingly over-protective.

Favourite place to be: at the skate park with his friends or watching TV with his little sisters.

Friends: To be added. Beau really looks up to Alex Cullen, Head Boy and Kiera Kingsley, Head Girl. He met Kiera at Ollivander's, she sold him his wand. They met again at the beginning of Beau's first year, in the Trophy Room and discussed many things. Alex is in Hufflepuff, like Beau, and they met at the Hufflepuff Welcome Party at the beginning of the year.

Best school subjects: Doesn't know about Hogwarts yet, but at muggle school he was good at nearly everything except...

Worst school subjects: English and other subjects that require a lot of reading.

First Year

Beau's mother took him to Obsidian Harbour to do his school shopping within a few days of receiving his letter. He met the head girl, Kiera Kingsley when she sold him his wand. After all of the rest of their shopping was done, he and his mother went to the pet store. They left without buying anything, but after his mother had sent him off to school, she returned to the shop and purchased a Morepork (native New Zealand owl) and two puffskeins for him. She had them delivered to him at Hogwarts.
Having arrived slightly late, as his mother couldn't bear to let him go (there were tears), the first thing Beau did at Hogwarts was walk into the welcome party in the Hufflepuff common room. He 'met' Jessame Rose Trewelly, who he just refers to as the 'weird Maori girl,' Klaus Dove and Alex Cullen, the head boy. He pretty much immediately developed a boy crush on Alex (the way younger boys tend to do on older, cooler boys), and basically hero-worships him. There was a boys-only party in the boys' dorms later, and Beau got to know all of the boys in his house a lot better as well as making a few discoveries about the magical world that he didn't know about before.
The next day, while skating in the corridors, he met Angela Marion, who he nicknamed "The 'Claw" because she was the first Ravenclaw he'd met. They chatted for a while until Beau got an owl from his mum. He made his excuses and went off to read about how she was sending him the owl and puffskeins.He was super excited and could barely sit still the next two daysat breakfast as the post came in. On the third day, a large owl cage and a smaller cage for the two puffskeins arrived.
In the mean time, he'd started his first classes, finding most boring, and met Kiera again, this time in the Trophy room. She taught him the levitating charm and he decided to become well known around the school and get his name on as many plaques and trophies as he could.
His first few months were fairly quiet. He spent a lot of time on the quidditch pitch learning to fly, and discovered a spell that corrected all the spelling in a document. Perfect for him, as he has dyslexia and his writing is atrocious.
For Halloween he decided to go as a headless man, and was disappointed that his costume seemed so lame compared to everyone else's.
