Hoshi was bored. Hoshi was really bored. She had been back for no more than a couple of days and she was already bored. Hoshi had invited her friends to join her in Broom Skating which she found really fun but they could only do it when the Quidditch teams where not on practicing. She wanted to be on the Slytherin Quidditch team so badly but with her reputation she was lucky she was allowed on the school grounds.

They should have let her join just to keep her out of trouble. Bad things happen when Hoshi Koshiba was bored. This was an example of that. Hoshi had set up a page on the floor below and was using the levitation charm to make a marker flowt from the floor above. When ever a person passes she would make it first catch the person's attention then write a personal insult on the page. Hey can I have a chocolate chip cookie face! was written up on the large page making the girl with the unfourtnet case of acne run from the 'phantom writer' crying. It wasn't big and flashy but it was making Hoshi laugh softly as she looked down at her victims. She wondered if anyone was going to come by where she was but doubted it. It was one of the reasons she was so bored and was taking it out on the people with low self estem.

Bruin had just finished a rather relaxing bath in the Prefect's Special Bathroom (it was Tuesday afterall) and was making his way back up to Gryffindor for a little nap when he happened upon a young girl not far from the Prefect's Common Room. She appeared to be looking down at the floor below and laughing slightly. Never one to miss a joke, Bruin decided to see what was so amusing.

The rather imposing Head Boy was wearing a bathrobe over his Gryffindor Pyjamas and the big fuzzy slippers that resembled bear claws on his feet muffled the sound of his approach. He realized that some people around campus might think he looked a little silly, but Bruin had never particularly cared what others thought of him and this feeling had strengthened within him as the years passed. Besides, he could physically or intellectually squash the majority of his fellow students and this girl didn't cause him much concern.

"So, what's so funny?" Bruin asked casually as he glanced down at the floor below, following the girl's gaze. Bruin couldn't recall if he'd met this particular girl at Gladrags last fall, but was pretty certain she was a first year.

Hoshi had been writing on the large paper Hufflepuff maybe in the lead but that still doesn't make you lean. when the voice reached her ears and Hoshi lost her concentration making the marker drop on the floor blow. "Nothing exploded, there was no property damage, there is no proof that I was even involved." She said with her hands behind her back. She was in a set of ripped up jeans and a fitted shirt with a faided skull on it. Goth but not super goth.

Hoshi turned to see the boy she had soppoedly made go in his pants. The head boy. I'm dead She thought. Still she gave the head boy a wide grin. There was no use in admitting to a crime he didn't know about yet. The chunky boy had only gone red and walked away anyway. There was nothing to suggest that she had done anything not even the angelic smile on her face.

Bruin was a little surprised at the lack of a verbal response from the girl, but then he routinely subscribed to the If in doubt, don't say anything-type of defense when he got caught doing stuff. Bruin had noticed the marker fall when he startled her and assumed that she had been using magic to write things, although he couldn't really make out what anything said from this distance.

"Looked like some pretty impressive wand work before I startled you..." Bruin said with a grin. "Takes pretty good control to write anything legible, at least, I would suspect it does." He added, having never tried it himself.

"So, what's your name? Bruin asked in a friendly manner, figuring she probably knew he was and even if she didn't, he'd tell her soon enough if she didn't start talking.

What was her name? She had been on the list of every Prefect since she got here and was the originator of Mischief Day. He wouldn't know that of course. He would reconise her name though "I practice a lot more than most students since I do tend to fall asleep in class and have to be prepared for it the next day. Not that it was me who was making the marker float like that. Ask anyone it was a phantom or a poltergeist. This school has a poltergeist right?" She said in her normal joking manner. "Hoshi Koshiba." She putting out her hand. Hoshi's angelic smile never left her lips. The other had slipped her wand in her back pocket and was busy putting some of her copper colored hair behind her ear.

If she was lucky she would be believed and the Head Boy would be on his way. In what he was waring it seemed like he was ready for bed. They again the head boy was so huge that he could ware anything he wanted and still be scary. Not that Hoshi was scared of him. The only person that she was somewhat scared of and she would do anything she said was Hadan-Senpie. Still at 4"11' the head boy was towering over her.

Bruin laughed at the girl's comment about falling asleep in class, having similar experiences in Astronomy earlier in his time at HNZ. It wasn't until the girl stated her name that Bruin felt anything but amusement at the situation, but he had heard of this girl from some of the other Prefects and his assessment of the situation changed subtlely.

"Nice to meet you Hoshi, I'm Bruin." He stated without much emotion as he considered Hoshi's explanation. As far as he recalled, most phantoms and poltergeists had difficulty with manipulating inanimate objects, but stranger things could have happened. "Hmm, well let's see what that poltergeist was writing, shall we?" Bruin said as he withdrew his wand and stated Accio Paper! while focusing on the paper on the floor below which fluttered upwards through the air towards them.

Bruin read the words on the paper and frowned. "Not a very friendly spirit, eh? Kind of rude even...perhaps I should let the Headmaster and Headmistress know that one of our spirits has got a nasty streak?" Bruin wondered aloud, but giving Hoshi a significantly accusatory glance as he did so. Bruin pointed his wand at the floor below again and uttered Accio Marker!, catching the marker and slipping his wand in his pocket.

Bruin started thinking about the girl before him, he had got the impression that this Hoshi girl was a bit of a troublemaker and by most accounts pretty clever about it. However, this little prank seemed particularly lame and the fact that she had performed it right outside the Prefect's Common Room did nothing to support the idea that this girl was capable of anything especially significant.

This truly was nothing. Hoshi had gotten a Blaze Box ( >:) ) from her friend and had every intention of using it. As for the Prefect's common room. She didn't even know it was here and that was saying something. Hoshi knew most of the hidden passage ways in the school because of her activities. Hoshi had been relived when she heard the Head Boy laugh but saw that smile fade fast when he heard her name. Crap She thought but kept from whincing.

Hoshi looked at the page like she had never see it before. "Really Bruin-dono ((lord))? I would say that the ghost has only a little bit of mean sense of humer." She flashing Bruin another angelic smile. One hand had gone in her pocket though. There was something that said that Bruin didn't believe her at all. She had something for that too. She thanked every brain cell in her head for having thought of buying darkness powder. If this really was headed towards the office of the Headmaster or Headmistress she would be ready to run.

Bruin considered Hoshi's latest reply, wondering what the -dono extension to his name might mean, but deciding not to dwell on it or the girl's attempt to play innocent. In the bigger picture this wasn't a big deal at all, although Bruin hoped that the girl stopped making fun of other students at the school. He'd hate to see her tick off someone who wasn't so good natured and have to deal with the fall out. Suddenly, Bruin had a little brainstorm and he withdrew his wand one final time and pointed it in the direction of the entrance hall below. Accio Poster! He hoped that no one was reading the poster that he had hung in the entrance hall earlier when he cast the summoning charm, but at this point he felt it was worth the risk.

A moment later a large banner-style poster fluttered into view and Bruin held it out for Hoshi to see.

"Um, I don't know if you've seen this already or not, but I think you definitely need to attend." Bruin stated matter-of-factly, almost implying that she was being required to but stopping short of actually saying so. "The Prefects are putting on a little play for the younger students and I think its an opportunity that you should take advantage of." Bruin wanted all of the impressionable first years to come and see what the Prefects had planned, hoping that those who did got the message that was being delivered. Of course, if the little punks who had played the lion prank in the 7th floor corridor attempted to disrupt the proceedings, Bruin would be ready for them this time.

Hoshi had see that thing. She was thinking of a way to skip it. Now it looked like she had no choice. Then she got an idea. "If I go then can we act like this little incident never happened?" She asked with her smile again angelic. It could be a little bargening chip her last one. The last thing she wanted was word getting to Professor Manteia. He already wanted her head on a plater for the bruises she had given that Nepoldie girl.

Hoshi looked at the poster with some interest. She could, maybe, no she couldn't. Hoshi loved to mess around but she wasn't stupid. She wouldn't try to pull something off in a theater with Prefects crawling all over the place. That was just nuts. But because she wouldn't do it herself didn't mean that she could put the idea in someone else's head. Ares seemed like he wanted to make a name for himself. It was all she could do to keep a wicked smile from coming to her face.

The angelic nature of Hoshi's manner never left Hoshi as she looked back up at the head boy. "Well is it a deal?" She asked with her most innocent grin. She still had her hand in the pocket with the pinch of darkness powder in it. Just in case.

"Sure..." Bruin said simply as he prepared to leave, now more convinced than ever that she was responsible for the marker messages in spite of her facade of innocence. Why else would she be so anxious to stike a deal if she hadn't done anything wrong?

Regardless, Bruin didn't have any desire to go running off to her Head of House or the co-Headmasters over something so trivial. He would simply keep a closer eye on her in the future, knowing that he could catch her easily if she tried anything stupid. He started up the corridor without another word, but stopped after a few strides and turned.

"Oh Hoshi, do you want your marker back?" He asked casually as he held it out in front of him, looking like he would toss it to her if she indicated yes.

Hoshi smiled. Yes! She said inside. This was not her best work. She didn't want to go down for something like insulting students from one floor above. It was lame. If she was going down she wanted to go down for something she was proud of. Hoshi took her hand out of her pocket and smiled like the little angel she was pretending to be. "Why would I want a marker that's not even mine?" She asked sweetly.

Hoshi would get another when she yelled at Haruhi to get her more art supplies. She seemed to be running low on pencils because of all the drawing she did at night when things kept her awake. Gray was the color that kept running out the most. She kept drawing gray eyes. Hoshi had to go find Ares now. She was sure the small timer would want to make his name as big as her's. That and she had it in for the Ravenclaw ever since she found out that two of the girls being auctioned off were her friends. Revenge would be sweet.

Bruin shrugged, not really expecting to catch her with a simple little slip of the tongue anyways. "Alright then, I'll be sure to track down that Poltergeist and make sure that they get it back..." He said with a little laugh laced with a smidgen of sarcasm. "Stay out of trouble now Yoshi." He added, intentionally mispronouncing her name, figuring that if her pranks were going to be rather silly and immature that she may as well have a nickname that suited her.

With a big smile on his face, Bruin sautered off down the corridor, turning the marker over in his fingers as he walked.

Hoshi put her hands in front of her and bowed. "Until next time Bruin-dono." She said not minding the slip of her name. She had been called worse things. And from what she remembered Yoshi was a cute dinosaur on one of the very old games. She laughed. If she was Yoshi then she wanted to be the blue one that could fly when it ate the any turtle shell. Hoshi decided that the Head Boy was not so bad. He may even have taken in some trouble making in his time. Now to bag myself a Raven. She thought making her way to the next starecase up.
