Jennette sat. She just sat. Crossed legged. Looking over the edge of the cliff at the ground below. It was the first time she had ever come to this part of the grounds, but it was not the first time she'd spent an afternoon alone in the grounds. She loved being outside, it was a beautiful place the Hogwarts campus. The grounds that extended for miles outside the castle and even the areas that lay beyond the boundaries that we're for viewing only, unless of course one was feeling particularly daring on a Saturday afternoon. Jennette however was not. JJ's thoughts wondered back to her dorm room, her guitar. Her beautiful Martin guitar. The guitar was the only part of her muggle life that remained with her as she crossed over into the magical realm of Hogwarts. Originally her mothers, Jennette loved playing her guitar in the open air and it would remind her of home and strumming a cord would never fail to make her smile and raise her mood. Now, she just sat and starred out at the beautiful landscape in front of her.

Kiara Tine smiled as she walked along the grounds of Hogwarts. It's beauty was nothing compared to Beauxbatons, but she was staring to enjoy being here. She hadn't been thinking about her brother Elijah in a long time and she was staying ahead of all her classes, though she didn't really care for them anyway. She was just glad to be having some time to herself for a while, seeing as most of this week was spent "studying" though that was probably not the correct word. Kiara did not study. It just wasn't the done thing when it came to her. She would read the set books, she would write the essays, whether she cheated or not depeneded on the class. She would even do the extra curricular work if she had too. But she would not now, nor was she ever going to study. Besides the fact that it was boring, Kiara just didn't like having to be surrounded by already completed work and to have to read over all her really boring notes from classes. Even though she had recently transferred here, that didn't mean that they were going to let her be slack, and they proved this everytime by always coming up with new homework. To be perfectly honest, it was pissing Kiara off. To the extreme. It was for this reason that she had decided to head for the lake. Then to the cliffs becuase if worst came to worst she could simply throw herself off, and end all her troubles. Of course she would never do that though. She would miss herself too much.Oh, what's this?Kiara wondered as she came closer to the cliffside. There was a girl nearer to the edge than she was. But she couldn't make out the girls face. Did she know her? "Hey! What are you doing over there?" She called to the girl, jogging closer to her. She hoped it wasn't a stinkin Hufflepuff.

One of the reasons Jennette chose to come all the way out to the cliffs was the peace and quiet. To be alone, the Hogwarts castle was so big but there was always someone to be found. Even in her dorm, there was someone else their. She hated having to share her sleeping space. Back home Jennette had her own bedroom and she loved it. When ever she wanted some privacy all she had to do was go to her room. Now, in Hogwarts when she wanted privacy she had to go find somewhere no one else would follow. At this time it was the cliffs. At least that's what she thought when she arrived. Jennette had no idea how long she had been there, all she knew was that she had enjoyed being there, alone, in peace but all that was about to end, and it wouldn't be the sound of a snapping twig, something quiet. It would be a load voice. Jennette jumped and turned around, had she been any closer to the edge she may well have fallen over. "What's it to you?" She snapped at the girl. Although displeased to see someone else out here, she could help but look at her and wonder, who she was, if she knew her, what house she was in. So many questions and no doubt she would have the answers not long from now.

Kiara had to admitt, she was alittle taken aback by the girls outburst. Howver, it was now entirely obvious that this girl was not a Hufflepuff. 'Puff's didn't usually make an effort to snap back at people, especially Slytherins, of course though this girl had no way of knowing that Kiara was a snake. But she just didn't seem like the type to be in Hufflepuff. Kiara was considering what she was going to do. She wasn't sure if she really wanted to share this space with some girl she may or may not know. She shrugged. Considering she was new here, it would be unlikely she knew this girl, unless of course they were both in Slytherin, or in the same year, or something to that extent. She shurgged and walked further up the cliff, curiousity getting the complete better of her after a moment. The girl was blonde, like her. Kiara thought, she didn't really know all that many blondes, did she? She wasn't sure. So she kept walking, maybe she would figure it out at some point. Maybe she wouldn't but it was the excitement and thought of being so close to death that really pushed Kiara forward. She wasn't an adrenaline junkie, she just liked heights, always had, always would. As she got nearer, the girl came more into focus. She was a Gryffindor, fourth year like herself. She would probably seen the girl in classes or something, though her name had escaped her, so she just decided to wing it. She walked to the side of the cliff, sat down and flung her legs over the side. She liked being this way. Her head got clear quicker. "So... I'm thinking we've been in classes together?" She asked, her accent tainted with french. "I don't really recall your name though..." She added. She was being uncharacteristically nice today, but it was only because she had already had her fun with a Hufflepuff, she didn't need to make anyone else cry today.

This girl was unlike anyone Jennette had met while at school. Jennette had a short temper, it was well known. It had made her enemies, it made younger students avoid her. Jennette had made her peace with this. What she knew was, that whenever she snapped at someone, they usually avoided her from that point and that would often begin with backing away and leaving her alone. But this girl, was walking towards her, maybe she was trying to figure her out or maybe she was drawn to the cliff. Jennette didn't really care, the only thing she cared about was that her personal space had been invaded and she was no longer alone. "Yes I think I've seen you, in, Herbology maybe." She paused as the girl struggled to remember her name. "I don't think you've ever known my name," Should she give her it. Was she really interested in making a new friend. Would it even go that far. Jennette looked over at the path she had taken to get here and wondered if she should just brush past her and go back to the castle. "My names Jennette," Jennette's tone remained icy. She had yet warmed to the idea of getting to know this girl. "And yourself?" She asked, out of habit more than politeness.

Kiara smirked slightly as she sat, swinging her legs out infront of her like a child. She didn't mind, she was sure she had done this before. It wasn't something that was embarrasing or nerve raking. Infact, she often felt quite comfortable by repeating this childish little action over and over. Although, now her legs were getting kind of numb. She shrugged, she didn't mind, she used to do this all the time in Beauxbatons anyway, so it made sense that she would be doing it again would it not. The blonde snake nodded slightly when the girl mentioned that she didn't think Kiara knew her name. It didn't surprise Kiara at all. She wasn't really one to talk to people anyway. This was basically a one time thing and again, it was only becuase she had let off steam in the lounge earlier. That was the only thing that kept her acting cool and aloof. She giggled slightly at the later word before looking over at the girl who then introduced herself. Jennette was a nice sort of name. Elegent yet unique, she liked it. She hadn't met a girl named Jennette before. Or a boy for that matter. "I'm Kiara" She told the other blonde, still looking up at her. She almost had a very Slytherin personality, it was very odd, but Kiara liked it. She felt more, comfortable here now, with that thought. It was odd though, this girl didn't seem like a Slytherin, and considering they had met in a class, it would be unlikely for her to be in Kiara's own house. Still it did leave her to wonder. "I sometimes think that the castle only exists to keep us away from this cliff." she said aloud, leaning over the edge.

Jennette was almost left speechless. She almost couldn't believe what she just said. "To keep us from the castle?" Jennette looked from Kiara to the castle and back again. "You serious?" Jennette had to pause and take a breath, this girl must have been trying to wind her up, it was the only plausible explanation. "So what your saying is that this castle was built to keep us from the cliff, but if they never built the castle. No one would come anywhere near it," She stood up and walked away slightly. Her peace was broken and she wasn't happy. As she turned to walk away from Kiara and head back to the castle but something stopped her. Jennette looked over her shoulder at the blonde, her legs swung over the cliff and there was something about her that made her turn back and walk back to the cliff edge. She sat down beside Kiara and dropped her legs over the cliff edge. "I hope its not often you think that because that's just stupid," She added. What she was saying may seem mean to outsiders but her tone of voice was beginning to soften.

Kiara giggled lightly when it seemed that Jennette was confused by what she said. This was turning out to be a very interesting meeting indeed. She couldn't believe the reaction she was getting from this girl, though it seemed to have calmed her down at the very least. She smirked when Jennette turned to walk away. She knew that Jennette was going to come back. She was always very good at reading people like that. She wasn't sure why, she just knew that she was. She looked to her side when Jennette sat next to her and laughed. Of course she hadn't truly meant what she had said, but it had done the job hadn't it. She shook her head and explained why she had said it, "Don't worry Jennette, I hadn't actually meant it... I just wanted to see if I could get a funny reaction from you" She told the girl as she stopped swinging her legs and again looked out over the cliffs. She slid forward slightly so that she was almost teetering over the edge. She loved this feeling of danger. She smirked at Jennette and slipped forward again. What would this girl do if she fell? She shook her head and pulled herself back after a minute. Probably best not to test this girl. She sighed. "Look, I'm kinda bored, you wanna do something?" She asked.

Jennette looked at the girl in amazement, she couldn't believe what she had just done. Teasing her to get some kind of reaction from her, it was so juvenile and yet Jennette was impressed. She watched as the blonde stopped winging her legs and leaned forward over the cliff. Jennette was on edge, she had no idea what this girl was doing and wasn't sure if she cared enough yet. She continued to slide towards the cliff edge and Jennette was preparing herself to pounce in the case she fell. Then all of a sudden her attitude changed. She pushed herself back to safe territory and turned to face Jennette and informed her of her boredom. "I don't know, I was already doing something, and I was perfectly happy here, so you must of have had something in mind when you came here," She said still looking over the cliff.

Kiara smirked as she looked at Jennette. She was sure that she was getting on the girls nerves by now. She stood up and walked alittle further away from the edge. There would be no point in falling off the cliff when she didn't want to now would there. She didn't really have something in mind when she came here, more that she wanted to be somewhere that other people weren't. She surveyed Jennette curiously. She seemed like maybe a Gryffindor. It would make sense for her to be a Gryffindor. She also probably wasn't a pureblood, but that didn't really bother Kia too much. She wasn't a pureblood either, she was a mxied blood, so she had no care for blood status or any of the stereotypes that went with it. She shrugged. "To be entirely honest with you I didn't really have much of a reason for coming out here, except that it is usually really quiet. I like to come out here and think, you know?" She asked. Then she remembered that she had her sketch pad in her bag, the bag she usually left buried under some rocks. She smiled and gestured for Jennette to stay where she was while she walked to the edge of the cliff, layed flat on her stomach and leaned over the edge. There was no real reason for her to have put the sketch pad here, but it excited her to have to go dangerously searching for it. A few moments later she found it and pulled it up to lay next to her. She smiled, she had many drawings in here. She rolled onto her back so that her head was hanging over the edge before sitting up and showing Jennette her sketch pad. "Can I sketch you?" She asked already pulling out her sketching tools.

Jennette didn't really know to react, no one had ever asked her if they could draw her before, but it soon became clear that she didn't really have a choice in the matter. Kiara already had her sketch pad out before she could utter a response so no matter what she said no wouldn't change what was about to happen, "I guess," She said a little defeated. "But, err. Why exactly do you want to draw me?" She asked moving backwards away from the cliff, she'd had her fill of danger for an afternoon and just wanted to feel solid ground beneath her feet.

Kiara was slightly surprised to actually have Jennette accept, although she didn't really give the other blonde a choice in the matter, so she supposed that the decision was not that unexpected. She smiled warmly and pointed to an area that would make the picture better. She smiled encouragement and began to sketch Jennette onto the paper, all the while talking to her to keep from having an awkward silence. "Why shouldn't I sketch you? There is no requirement for being sketched. Except maybe ugly people, I wouldn't sketch ugly people." She told her as she began to sketch her face and hair. "You know your hair is probably going to be one of the easiest things to draw. Its so fluffy." She said as she looked up from the sketch pad to where Jennette was about two metres away. Kia had the sketchpad propped up on her knees so as to add some height. "And your eyes are really pretty too." She gave compliment. Maybe sketching Jennette really was a good idea afterall. She smiled as she began to draw her neck and other various parts of her model. This was going to be a really nice picture.

As Kia drew she kept adding commentary such as, "Dude, your nose is perfect" and "Oh man this ear is going to be good." It was how she liked to draw, adding commentary to what she was drawing. Why wouldn't she, Jen, as Kia had decided to call her, was a pretty good model. After about thirty minutes, Kia finished off the final touches and turned the sketch pad around. So that Jen could see it. "Well what do you think?" She asked, slightly worried that Jen may not like it.

Completed sketch

Jennette had never been drawn before, it was a strange sensation to sit their and watch as Kiara sketched her. Her fellow blonde did everything she could to avoid an awkward silence but rather than attempt to make conversation all she seemed to do was compliment her which made her feel a little awkward. Jennette would have been ok if she got a single compliment, if Kiara stopped at 'she wasn't ugly' then she'd be fine but when Kiara began to compliment her hair and her eyes she didn't know what to say or where to look. "Thanks," She said nervously trying to keep her focus on something just over Kiara's shoulder so she wasn't making eye contact. "Your really pretty too you know," Jennette said without thinking. She really didn't know what was wrong with her, girls complimented each other all the time, to boost confidence and just to be nice to each other. It may have been because Jennette had never really been a compliment exchange kind of friendship.

Roughly thirty minutes past and Kiara stopped drawing, Jennette didn't know what to expect. After listening to the other blonde's commentary she knew it must appear good to her. But the question is, could this girl actually draw. She turned the picture around and Jennette was pleasantly surprised. "That's brilliant, your really talented," Jennette beamed at the blonde .

Kiara smiled as she watched Jen appreciate her work. She had heard the girl say she was pretty but chse not to comment. She didn't want to sound vain. It was a compliment she got all the time and she didn't want to feel like an idiot by saying that to this girl. She already felt like a snide b!tch, no need to sound like a vain one too. She smiled, a genuine smile, that sort of surprised her. She was now really hoping that Jen wasn't a Hufflepuff, she couldn't be friends with her if she was. She looked up at the girl. She definately didn't seem like a Hufflepuff, and as she had gotten to know the girl, she seemed more like a Ravenclaw or a Gryffindor, more Gryffindor really, but there were definately some Slytherin qualities there. She foled the paper back over and placed it in her bag and walked over to Jen, stretching. She looked at the girl. "Did you really like it? Was it honestly that good?" She asked as she sat on the ground at Jen's feet, touching the ground next to her, gesturing for the other blonde to join her. Kia only ever had her mother's words to go by and her mother never accepted anything she drew. It kind of upset her, but what could she do about it? There was really nothing. Her mother was her mother and that was who she would always be. "I've only ever had my mothers word. You should feel lucky," Kiara joked, "I've never either drawn or shown anyone my sketching pad. Your the first, aside from my mother, that had ever seen it." she finished. "Et vous êtes probablement le seul qui ne le fera jamais." She whispered in french, knowing that Jen wouldn't be able to understand her, which she didn't mind. She didn't want to have to explain herself anyway.

Jennette watched as Kiara walked back over to her and sat at her feet. She smiled as the blonde Slytherin tapped the ground beside her, Jennette shuffled in her place and sat beside her stretching her legs out, she tugged at her skirt to adjust it as she moved. "It really was good," She reassured her, Jennette was used to people being insecure about their talent. It did sometimes annoy her, she didn't understand how someone couldn't see that they have talent. She wasn't like that, she knew that she played guitar well. She didn't think she was the best player in the world but she knew she was good and she wished Kiara would feel the same about herself. "Your really good at drawing, but you should know that seeing as you can see what your drawing," Jennette laid her head back on the grass. Kiara told her that aside from her mother she was the only one to see her sketch pad which was strange as they'd only just met. She then mumbled in french, Jennette looked at her blankly. She had assumed she spoke french from her accent but hadn't expected her to speak it here, "Sorry I don't speak french," She said.

Kia smiled at Jen as she continued to compliment her drawing skills. It was true, she did sort of know she was good, but she didn't like to go around sayig that she was. She never really had anything to compare it to and her mother always told her that she needed to improve. Which used to really hurt Kiara. She often cried after her mother told her that because she was always very harsh about it. Like one time, Kiara was about seven, she came out to her mum and showed her the perfect picture of a rose she had drawn. Her mother had simply looked at it for five seconds before saying. "That is not good enough Kiara. You must improve." There would surely have been a nicer way to say that to a seven year old wouldn't there? These days she just never paid attention to what her parents said. Kiara nodded slightly to Jennette before answering her. "Oui, you are correct, but... i guess i just don't like to big note myself. You know?" She asked as she shrugged and looked at her feet. She then looked at Jennette and smiled slightly before looking away again at her next words. She had kind of been hoping that Jennette hadn't heard them. She actually thought that she had not said them aloud. Though apparently, she had. She shrugged again, not really wanting to explain her words to this girl, that she really didn't know. Maybe one day if they got to know eachother better. "It doesn't matter, don't worry about it." She said as she hugged her knees to her chest. Then she got an idea on how she might take the subject away from her. "Hey, do you wanna go for a dip in the lake?" She asked suddenly, randomly thinking of it.

Jennette smile, clearly the girl knew she had talent but she didn't like saying it aloud, perhaps it stemmed from something in her childhood. Maybe when they knew each other better Jennette would learn more about it and find the route cause of her talent shyness. "Yeah I get it, besides no one likes a bragger," Jennette grinned. Some people just didn't like to be in other peoples face about their talent and preferred to be casual about it, Jennette was like this with her guitar playing. She knew she was good but she wouldn't go around rubbing it in peoples face because that would just risk making enemies. She watched as Kiara tucked her knees to her chest and wondered if she was ok, perhaps Jennette had made her remember something from when she was younger that had upset her. Just as she was about to ask and check on her, Kiara came up with a crazy and random idea. A dip in the lake. Although she had thought about it Jennette had never done this before. She guessed there was a first time for everything. "Yeah sure, sounds like fun," She beamed.

Kiara smiled as Jennette agreed to take a dip with her. She grinned and grabbed the girls hand. She wasn't sure if Jennette had swimmers with her or not, guessing that she probably didn't, but that didn't matter, they could jump in, wearing just there undies, it wasn't like that wasn't possible. Underwear and a bikini pretty much looked the same anyway didn't it? She giggled and slowed as she got closer to the lake and started to take her shirt off. She was only wearing her uniform, so it didn't matter to much to her if she just put it on the ground. She didn't have to clean it. There were spells for that. She threw her shirt to the ground and proceeded to also discard her skirt and walked to the waters edge. She dipped her toes in and received a slight chill that traveled up her leg and hit her spine. She shivered, threw a smile over her shoulder at her friend and slipped into the cold water until it reached her chest. "Come on Jennette. The water is remarkably good." She said as she poked her tongue at her.

No sooner than Jennette had Kiara leaped off the ground and pulled her by the hand down towards the lake. This would certainly be a first for Jennette going swimming in the lake but also she was a little shy about taking her clothes off in front of a girl she had just met. Being in her underwear and being in a bikini were essentially the same thing, that wasn't the part that was bothering her. It was just the notion of undressing in front of someone who an hour ago was a stranger from class. Kiara undressed in what seemed like lightening fast speed, Jennette didn't know where to look and in the confusion ended up looking at her as she stripped down to her underwear and headed into the lake. Now the Slytherin's eyes were on her. Her rope had been left back at the cliff edge so first to come off was her tie, simple and easy. She then proceeded to unbutton her shirt and slipped off her skirt. She then rolled off her tights and folded her clothes up and placed them by her shoes. She felt so exposed as she made her way over to the lake, Jennette dipped in her toe to test the water, it felt warm. She gradually walked into the lake until the water reached her chest and slightly wet her bra. "I've been in warmer water but its not bad," She grinned at Kiara and returned her tongue jester.

Kiara smiled as she watched Jennette join her in the water. At first she wasn't sure the girl would accompany her, but her fears had been wrong. It had only been about two minutes that she had to wait before Jennette was poking her tongue back at her. She had gone for a swim in the lake before, but it was almost always by herself. She was rather gratful for the company this time though and ducked her head under the water to wet her hair. She wanted to distract Jennette, so the girl wouldn't notice her sadness. If Jennette asked her, why she was sad, Kiara would tell her. She had no problem lying to some people, like the loathed Hufflepuff's but she didn't like lying to the people that she liked, or respected, or anything of the above. She came back up for air and splashed her comrade. Maybe this day could be interesting afterall.

Jennette couldn't help but feel like Kiara was going great lengths to distract her from asking something. Of course if this was the case then all of Kiara's effort to distract her was for nothing, Jennette wasn't one to pry into a persons private life, especially if she had only just met. Jennette never felt entitled to know about someones private life even if that person had dragged her into going into the lake in nothing but her underwear. "You do this often?" She asked. Jennette knew that it was a bad attempt at small talk but Kiara had gone quite and Nettie didn't like silences between people, it made her uncomfortable.

Kiara giggled when Jennette asked her if this was something she did often. It sort of was, but she never had done it with another person before. She smiled and flicked more water at Jennette. She was having fun. Even though it was getting darker and soon she wouldn't be able to see very well at all. She didn't care, she liked being in the water and it was nice and warm, unlike it could've been, but to their luck, it wasn't its usually freezing cold, and it wasn't very active right now either, it was just their luck that they caught it on a nice, calm day. She walked over to Jennette and proceeded to try and dunk her. They were in the water afterall and Jennette still looked a little uncomfortable, so why not try and throw her into the water completely? Kiara didn't see the harm, instead of answering Jennette's question straight away, she let the silence be broken by her laughter, until she had enough with trying to dunk Jennette, she replied, "Yeah, quite often actually, but usually by myself." She explained, smiling slightly at the memories of just floating in the lake and letting go, it calmed her down, the water. "What about you, what do you usually do at this time?"

Jennette knew it was getting dark but she didn't care. She was having fun with this stranger, although she wasn't really a stranger anymore. She could almost be called a friend. After all they were in the lake, in their underwear talking and giggling. Jennette was pretty sure this made them friends. Nettie giggled as she saw Kiara approach her, she looked on at her new friend nervously unsure of what she was going to do. Then without warning Kiara proceeded to dunk her, Jennette wanted to speak but opening her mouth would be stupid while underwater. When she returned to the surface she looked at Kiara, then she burst out in laughter and splashed water in the girls face. Kiara then proceeded with their conversation like nothing happened. "I don't think so, your not getting away with that," Jennette grinned and began dunking Kiara.

Kiara allowed herself to be dunked in the water only because she had done the same to Jennette. She stayed under for a little longer to swim around behind Jennette and pop up, hoping to splash her in the face. She was aware that Jennette had not answered her question, but she didn't much care for that. She only knew that she had to either get to wamer waters or go back to the castle. She was both tired and the water was starting to get cold because the sun was going down. The stars were coming out, but all that counted was here and now. The universe would never be the same after this little game, she was glad she came. (Sorry couldn't resist) She liked Jennette, she really did and she knew that she would want to hang out with the girl again. She smiled softly and headed to the edge of the water. She was pretty cold and wanted to get to the castle as soon as possible. "I think it would be wise of us to return to the castle now... Don't you?" She wondered as she walked over and attempted to find her clothes in the escaping light. Considering they were pretty much black, she didn't lay much hope in that endeavour. "I should think we to do this again sometime, though maybe not so late and to plan to bring towels next time." She laughed to Jennette over her shoulder. She had never had this much fun with Justin. Maybe it was just a girl thing or something?

Urgh, sorry its late :tut:

Jennette smile continued to widen as she saw Kiara emerge from the water. She had so much fun with the girl, she hadn't expected this when she came out to cliffs earlier that day. Jennette hadn't really expected anything, she just wanted a quiet day to herself and she ended up making a new friend and having the most fun she'd had in years. Kiara began to swim back to dry land and Jennette followed her, it had got darker now and the temperature had plummeted to the point that Nettie's skin felt like ice to touch. She looked around for her clothes, they were bright colored but they by no means easier to find than Kiara's darker attire. Eventually, she managed to slip on her dry skirt over her wet legs and threw on her top. Jennette was still cold without her robe and wanted to get inside as soon as possible. "Yeah lets get inside its so cold," She smiled hoping that she would see Kiara again and soon. She'd met a lot of people at Hogwarts but no one was as fun as Kiara was. "Come on lets go," She said as she two made their way back up towards the castle.
