An Old Acquaintance

Kate was in New Zealand for the next two weeks.She had arrived three days ago and she was enjoying herself on the Island.Even though she almost missed home it was nice to have the next to weeks to herself so she could think about the future and prepare herself for home.She was now sixteen and in two years she would be finished school.Kate had no idea what she wanted to do.She couldn't exactly go to college as she had no major exams done in any subject done in muggle school.So unless she wanted to repeat there would be no teacher job for her.She wasn't sure what was needed to become a music teacher.So realistically her only options lay in the wizard world unless she wanted to become a singer or a violin teacher or maybe even a singing teacher.So many options and Kate wanted to have it sorted before she left school.Kate didn't feel as if she was sixteen.Two years now and she would be a full adult.Be able to drive,vote and live her own life with out the worry of parents objecting though she was sure they would still do it.The past five years had flown by,faster then she would ever have imagined.In some ways she didn't want to grow up and be out there in the world alone but in other ways she just wanted to see the world and leave Hogwarts a place with both good and bad memories behind.

She was outside Brighstone village today.Since arriving three days ago Kate couldn't help but keep her eye out for a certain person.She wasn't sure what she would do if she saw him.There was a lot of anger and hurt buried deep inside.But there was also a lot or worry and love.She was so worried that something had happened to him and she did love him.Sadly she hadn't seen him though she wasn't too worried as she was her for another week and a half and she was going to at least ask around.She hated not knowing if he was okay.That's what often worried her the most,was he still alive,was he hurt?So many questions running through he mind,most of the time she tried not to think about him because it wasn't exactly healthy for her to be worrying and panicking.She was in Brighstone just to do some normal shopping today.She had already gotten some of her school things.Now she was going to relax and enjoy the little holiday she had.Even though it was winter here the weather wasn't too cold and Kate was able to dress light enough.She decided to sit down on a bench after buying a roll and some crisps,.It was nice to have muggle food again.Magical food was amazing but it was nice to go back to normal food every once in a while.

Kayden was in Brightstone for the day coming to pick up a few things from the stores here that they didn't have in Obsidian Harbor. He still wasn't used to being back in New Zealand and he knew he wasn't going to be staying for very long. He had already run into two people he knew from when he went to school, Sara Moon and Shiloh Denton. It had been sort of weird since he had really missed them when he first left to go to Salem, but then at Salem he made such wonderful friends on the Quidditch team. So Hogwarts basically left his mind and he hadn't tried to keep contact with anyone. It was his own fault that he left and didn't get to grow up with his friends here, both girls were amazingly beautiful now, but he had his eyes on another.

Walking around he had one bag in his hand was was window shopping till he remembered what else he was there for. Walking by a person on a bench he stopped and did a double take. He almost believed it was Sara Moon sitting there, but from a few feet away he could tell it wasn't her. Moving towards the person he wondered if it was Sara's twin sister, Kate. He hadn't talked much to the girl but they had been in the same group of friends when they all first started school. "Kate? Kate Moon?" Kayden asked the girl slowly as he stood in front of her.

This was Kate's alone time.She would have to go back to Ireland in a week or so.She was not looking forward to it as her parents were probably going to be all strict and give them lectures as to tell them everything and blah blah.To be honest sometimes Kate got sick and tired of her parents.She did love them and she did see where they were coming from but Kate knew herself that she was never going to sink as low as she did again.She had sort of mentally blocked second year.She couldn't remember much except for the fights between the friends.Also the day that Stefan apologized.He was lucky it was she he was apologizing to because most wouldn't have even talked to him let alone accept his apology but Kate could be forgiving and he was lucky she was a nice person.But they had put second year past them and they had moved on.Though Kate wasn't sure how she felt about Stefan at the moment.She loved him so much but there was anger in the mix because he had left,out of the blue and with out saying goodbye.

Kate sighed and ate her roll slowly,watching the world went by.Some people had easy lives or at least normal.If Kate wasn't a witch she wold probably never have suffered as much heart ache but then she wouldn't have met Stefan or the amazing people at Hogwarts.Kate had gone through a lot of drama in her young life.A lot of people would say that she was making it bigger then it was to be honest Kate wasn't sure if she was a drama queen or not.Sure she had been nominated the schools Drama Queen but she had been at the school for five years and never once had she been called a drama queen before RHI .Plus the things RHI accused her of over reacting to had actually happened so in all fairness she was slightly confused as to was she really a drama queen.Her thoughts were interrupted by someone saying her name quite slowly.Kate looked up and frowned.The person in front of her looked very familiar,she had definitely seen him before "I know you,don't I"She said tapping her finger against her chin.She knew this was quite strange but she needed to find out his name herself.Suddenly she remembered "Kayden"She said smiling.Now she remembered,Georgiana's twin and Sara's crush and best friend once upon a time.Sara had never actually told her she had a crush but Kate remembered easily seeing the signs "Oh and yes I am Kate Moon"She added before grinning "Wanna a seat?"She asked patting the space beside her.

Kayden smiled at the girl in front of him as she tried to remember his name. It had been the same when he saw her, trying to figure out if she was actually Kate or just someone who looked a lot like Sara. It had been a long time since he saw anyone from his school years here in New Zealand. He hadn't meant it to happen but he had wanted to be closer to home so he transfered to Salem. Because of the friends he had made at Hogwarts he found it easy to make new ones at Salem and soon his time was filled up. "Yeah, that's me," he said with a smile still on his face. It was interesting to see how Sara and Kate grew up, so much alike yet different as well. Kate's hair seemed to be more of a wavy then her sister's.

Taking her offer Kayden sat down on the bench next to her. He wasn't sure where to start, when he ran into Shiloh and Sara the two seemed asked him non-ending questions about Salem and how it was there for him. And now a days he loved to tell his friends about the things he has done and accomplished. Becoming Quidditch Captain and Hall Monitor, basically the American Prefect. "What's that you're eating?" He asked Kate instead of asking about her past years at the school. Georgiana wasn't much of a gossiper but what she let on from the school was that Kate's boyfriend who he had met once or twice left the school with no explaination. He wasn't going to bug her about it though.

Kayden looked a lot different from the one she remembered.He was taller and looked more grown up but a big change was his body language,he didn't seem shy as she had once remembered him.She had only met him a few times.Usually they had been in groups and he had been in her classes as they he had been a 'Puff before leaving the school.She had never talked to him alone.He had seemed nice though and she wondered what he had been up to since the last time they had met.She wondered what school he had transferred to,Kate didn't know much schools other then Hogwarts,Beauxbatons and Drumstrag.She guessed there were other schools as the magical population was probably huge.She wondered did Sara know he was here,she was around the place somewhere as was Star.All three girls never relaly hung out together,maybe they would meet for lunch or something but they all had separate things to do and once morning came the three girls probably wouldn't see each other till they got home that evening.It was just the sort of family they were,not as close as they had once been "You look..different"She said after a pause,physically he was much the same except taller and broader but his manner was different.

Kate looked down at her roll and crisps "Just a chicken and lettuce roll with salt and vinegar crisps"Kate said smiling.She had treated herself,usually she would go back for lunch but sh had awoken late this morning and hadn't gotten out of the bed till eleven and then she had gone into town not long ago so she wasn't going to go back for lunch.She was perfectly contented eating her lunch on the bench though.It was a lovely day and Kate liked relaxing,her summer holidays were all about relaxing because the school year could be quite hectic a lot of the time and she enjoyed just taking things slow. "So what school are you at now?"She asked curiously.She then took a bit of her roll as she as quiet peckish.It was yummy as usual.Kate didn't have a very exotic taste when it came to sandwiches.She just liked nice and plain ones no chutney or relish or anything like that.
