Short Description

She was born in Romania, the daughter of an auror and a college professor. Shortly after Alena turned three, her parents were killed (unsolved) and she was sent to live with her grandfather (a retired auror himself, and currently a psychologist) in Chicago, Illinois in the United States. Growing up, she was fun loving, always playing outside and finding mischief. Her great love, however, was and still is reading. She could often be found perched on the branch of a tree with her nose deep in a book. She attended Muggle school for awhile, and at the age of 11 started at Salem Witches Academy. As she grew older, she discovered an intense love for knowledge and started taking classes over the summer at a local college as well as continuing her magic studies. She loves singing and being outside with friends looking for new adventures. She's fiercely Loyal and protective of those she loves, but can also show a very hot temper (she tries to control it as often as possible, but this does not always work). She recently moved to New Zealand after her grandfather suffered from a heart attack.

Appearance
How things look on the outside of us depends on how things are on the inside of us.​

Eyes: Blue Hazel. A combination of blue and green, they change colors from day to day. They stand out due to dark black rings around her irises.

Hair: Dark brown and wavy with some golden highlights in the summer. Her hair has a kind of ‘surfer girl’ look to it

Height: 5’3” and done growing.

Weight: 119 pounds. Alena has a slim, slightly curvy hourglass figure

Distinguishing Features: Scar on her left elbow from falling out of a tree when she was seven. Another scar on her right leg from falling into a dresser while moving it when she was 16. A tattoo on her right wrist of the word ‘imagine’ and another behind her left ear of a peace sign.

Overall: Alena’s usual dress is best described as ‘bohemian mixed with indie’ She is a bit of a tomboy, but has a decent sense of fashion. She rarely wears much makeup, but always wears mascara on her already dark eyelashes. Her hair is left long, down, and in natural waves.

How she is: Alena is a very laid back and intelligent girl. Her lifes motto is to just go with the flow. She rarely plans ahead and tries to look for the fun in all lifes situations. She takes things as they come and is most definitely a strong optimist. Alena is a romantic, but at the age of 17 has never been in love. She’s very trusting mostly. Her favorite activities include reading, singing, hanging out with friends, finding adventures, learning new things, bonfires on summer nights and catching fire flies.

Quirks: Alena tends to bite her lower lip when feeling an intense emotion. She has a strange knack for getting in trouble without meaning too.

The Bad: She sometimes falls into boughts of anxiety and pessimism. She tends to over think some situations. Much of her personality is contradicting, causing her inner turmoil.

If that wasn’t enough: Alena has a beautiful singing voice and can read music, but plays no musical instruments ( though she wants to, she has a hard time learning them). She does, however, own a guitar that once belonged to her grandmother. She is very intelligent and learns most things quickly, though she loathes things that have to do with numbers. She has taken classes at a muggle college.

History
at least I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then​

Alena Kateryna Mandragoran was born at 8:21 pm on July 23 in Transylvania. The first and only child of Logan and Alisia Mandragoran, Alena was welcomed warmly into her family and treated as a little princess, especially by her father, who could not be around often due to his job as an auror. Her parents were quite old when they had her, her mother being 38 and her father 45. The first years were very happy ones for little Alena.

Shortly after her third birthday, tragedy struck Alena’s family when her mother and father were killed. Their deaths where clearly murders, but the case remains unresolved. Alena was sent halfway across the world to live with her Grandfather in Chicago, a retired auror and current psychologist. He was 68 at the time, though quite energetic. Being young, Alena soon forgot the absence of her mother and father and grew up as a very happy and adventuresome child. Grandfather was strict, but indulgent with his granddaughter.

Alena attended muggle school from the time she was 4 until she was 11, making it all the way through 6th grade before she left to attend muggle school. At Salem Academy, Alena was a top student and involved in many of the singing and academic groups her school had to offer. In her first year she made friends with a girl by the name of Bria Murphy, who would go on to become her best friend. Though she had many acquaintances, her only other close friend was her neighbor Quinn Bagley. Starting at the age of 14, inspired by her grandfather, Alena began taking summer classes at a local college, mostly in the areas of psychology and literature.

During the summer after Alena’s sixth year, tragedy struck again when her Grandfather had a heart attack. After having a bypass surgery, he lived, but had trouble recovering and required more care than his young granddaughter alone could give. Alena and her grandfather were forced to move in with relatives in Brightwater New Zealand.
