Basic Appearance:
- Aisling has long dark ginger wavy hair of which she is very proud and protective. She is slender, and tall for her age, which has always bothered her slightly. She has pale irish skin, though somehow the freckle gene passed her by. She has large dark green eyes, full lips, and high cheekbones. She likes dressing in vintage clothes; shades of brown, muted greens, and greys, contrasts, whites, and floral patterns are all style staples, though her wardrobe holds a few black pieces as well for darker days. Aisling is a strong believer in dress as an outer expression of the person within.
Personality:
- Aisling is a sweet, rather introspective person, who often finds herself lost in thought. People are difficult for her; she finds making friends easy, and having long term friends some kind of alien prospect that doesn't really apply to her. She is warm and kindly towards everyone though, and gives off a good-natured air to most. Having spent a good deal of her childhood travelling in jungles and staying with tribes, she tends to be blind to the crueler side of humanity, and is easy to take advantage of, given her inexperience in relating to people on a long-term basis. Having been home schooled her entire life, she also finds the idea of structured study, and no bird-related classes, difficult to wrap her head around, and adjusting will be anything but easy. She has a few odd quirks others tend to find unfathomable; explaining difficult feelings in the form of hummed tunes, rarely wearing shoes, and carrying various herbs for luck among the many.
Family:
- Aisling's muggle mother Alison passed away when she was two, and she has been completely raised by her father Liam since. Liam Fincham is a gentle man, and an ornithologist. Since age five, Aisling and her father have travelled the world studying different species of birds, just the two of them. Aisling's father's parents live in Ireland, though she's never met them, and her mother's parents want nothing to do with her, never having approved of Liam.
Pets:
- A chaffinch named Sir Edmund, and an owl named Madam Hootie, both acquired since the permanent shift to New Zealand.
Area of Residence:
- All over the place. Currently permanently located in Dunedin, New Zealand, though they still own a house in the Irish countryside.
Blood Status:
- Halfblood (Muggle mother, 3/4 blood wizard father.)
Heritage:
- Full blooded Irish, though having lived all over the world, Aisling only has a slight accent, speaking softer and slower than usual to make herself understandable.
Special Abilities:
- Aisling is skilled at bird calls and identification (obviously) and has a gift for languages and music. She says of music; "It's the same in every country, really. A chord's a chord in South Africa, and a chord's a chord in Malaysia."
Interests or Hobbies:
- Piano, flute, guitar, violin, singing, birds. Likes to doodle, but isn't overly interested in art. Does yoga every morning, for relaxation and focus. - Speaks fragments of various languages from around the world, though she never retains huge amounts of it. Her father has been teaching her bits and pieces of Gaelic though, which she's held on to.

- Aisling is a fast learner, and absorbs information like a sponge. She is also a keen observer, and while she might never be able to join in on a group of friends, she would be perfectly happy to study them for hours. She gives off a likeable air, though is often unable to follow it up with lasting friendship, and is extremely self-aware for an eleven year old.
Weaknesses:
- People are, for the large part, a mystery to Aisling, and she finds actually forming lasting connections with them borders on impossible. She has many inexplicable quirks, explained above, and tends to be brave beyond reason; running around happily in dangerous areas, and facing off against those stronger than herself. Not out of stupidity; she simply sees no danger to herself. She is easily startled by loud noises or sudden movements, and finds crowds completely overwhelming. - Friends are an issue for Aisling. Being a traveller, she finds it very easy to connect to someone once, and become close to them for a time, but without the expectation of being spirited away at any moment, lasting friendships are a daunting prospect to her. She is extremely accepting; even if she doesn't agree with someone's views or actions, she will be kind and warm towards them simply because friendships are few and far between in her life.
Extracurricular Activities:
- Piano, flute, guitar, violin, singing, and she'd be first in line to start an ornithological society at Hogwarts.
