Okay, to fill the void until the next series of The Gruen Transfer comes on to television, I thought I'd create a thread where you can share ads you've seen that you like, that have outraged you, e.t.c. And discuss things like what makes a good ad, why outrageous ads work, what sort of advertisments you'd like to see...
(Just to be clear, I'm not studying that part of media yet so no, I'm not using you for my university degree.
)
I'd write something longer here but I'm tired and incoherent.
Here are some good ads from Australia:
Telstra (Great Wall Of China) Ad and Telstra still sucks, which goes to show that the ad can be great and can fall in to the public lexicon and people still will be wary about what you're selling.
The 'Big Ad' which I guess shows how high production values have to be to sell beer.
And here is something downright weird:
wtf is this sh1t?
(If you don't know it, try guessing what the ad's for before the end of it.
)
Anyway, share, discuss, and whatever. Yeah.
