Aaron didn't want to think about everything that had happened since he'd gotten on that train, if he was being honest, a lot of things were happening and he didn't think he liked any of them. The sound of his sneakers was barely audible against the stone floor. His eyes widened as he took in the massive space, the enchanted ceiling above, twinkling down in a way that made him immediately think of the holograms he's seen in the university his dad taught at. Sometimes his ma would bring home some of those little fish things with the digital parts and that was how it would look a lot of the time. If they replaced it with fish, that was what it would be like. He looked around to see if he could see any light lines, but couldn't see anything at the moment, but that wouldn't necessarily mean anything, he needed to do more research. The long tables kind of stretched out in front of him, each of the houses seemed to be brimming with their own students, all of them eagerly awaiting the new students they would apparently achieve. Honestly that seemed so weird, nothing like this happened in his school, his normal school. They had sections and stuff, people he would be grouped with, but definitely not something like being placed based on... whatever arbitrary thing they would have put them under. He had been looking forward to what he would be put into next year.

"Dela Cruz, Aaron!"

His heart raced as he approached the stool at the front, nerves bubbling up in his stomach like an overactive scrap plug. I can do this, he thought, trying to calm himself. This wasn’t a video game—no reset buttons here. Aaron stiffened for a moment before he began walking toward the stool. Each step felt like it echoed in his ears, and the whispers of the other students grew louder as he passed by their tables. He tried not to look nervous, even though he could feel the weight of the room’s gaze on him. Finally, he reached the stool, sitting down as the hat was placed on his head. It felt strange, heavy, and far too large for him, but he swallowed his discomfort and waited. The voices in the hall seemed to fade away as a calm, ancient voice entered his mind.

"You can do this, and this while different is going to be a very interesting journey for you. I can see a great deal here, a good amount of bravery, of loyalty of ambition, but I think it's your curiosity which wins out, and for that...Ravenclaw,"​
