Sam’s first two years at Hogwarts had been rather peaceful, she hadn’t made any enemies - or any she was aware of - and her grades had gone amazingly well. She didn’t think anything could be any better than that. She had even made good friends and she was enjoying her school life. Now that she was in her third year, she had to focus, because she had specifically chosen many subjects in case she didn’t know still what she wanted to do as a profession in her later years. Maybe once she knew, she could drop some subjects, but just the thought of doing that - dropping even one - made her panic a little. She was doing just fine, in her opinion. Sam knew she could always trust her gut instinct. Plus, as long as she stuck to her lists and schedules she was convinced she would not mess up or forget something important she needed to get done. She was confident she could keep up with everything going on in her life.

There was only one thing, or rather, one person, who Sam needed to keep an eye on. Not really because she was worried about her sister, but more for the reason that her younger sister loved to sabotage Sam’s plans. That was why the third year had to be careful when she was around Sabrina. She didn’t want to mention anything that was highly important to the blonde, she would not even allow herself to make anything slip. Her eyes lit up slightly when she realised she could also warn her friends. That would not be a bad idea at all. She sighed, on the somewhat bright side, Sabrina had been sorted into Slytherin, which also meant Sam didn’t have to try too hard to keep an eye on her troublesome sister. She opened her novel, and smiled to herself. Since many students had gone home for the break, but for some reason Sam and her siblings hadn’t (her father was busy and Alex was visiting soon anyway), the castle was fairly quiet. She could enjoy her time now, while she read. After all the girl hardly had time to relax during the semester.

Simon had decided to stay home over the holidays, the boy hadn't really gone home all that often, opting more so for the celebrations that the school had and the access to libraries and books. He liked how it was and he liked that he had a little more freedom to do what he wanted. He liked the quiet of the place, and he certainly enjoyed having fewer housemates. With his year somewhat stagnating the boy had tried to reach out to Charlotte, take her breakfast again or something, but she seemed to be ignoring him, which did frustrate the boy to no end since he was hopeful to eventually try and figure out if he actually had a real crush on her or just liked the idea of them together. However, since it appeared that she wasn't at the school the boy had to do other things to keep him occupied and decided to focus a little more upon the reading he was doing. He had decided to get a little ahead of the curve and had a book open for the coming semester. However, the boy grew bored of his book indoors, where there was little to do and air was increasingly stuff no matter the amount of windows opened. So, instead he decided to venture outside, heading out of the castle and to the great outdoors.
The part veela had a few books tucked underneath his arm and was just enjoying the cool air, the way everything felt. He was a little bored, if honest, studying for his classes was all good and well, but it didn't help him from occasionally feeling the cool sharp touch of boredom. He spotted someone sitting by the lake and decided to venture close to see who it was and if he could strike up a conversation with them, however as he got close he realised who this girl could be. He didn't this person was Analei, but the two certainly did look a like and Simon had gotten them mixed up before. He didn't want to get it wrong, keen to talk to the girl Sam, whom he'd once practicing spells with rather than Analei who'd sent him that odd and weird poem. "Hey Sam," the boy called out, there was the slight concern that this girl wouldn't remember him and that he had the wrong one, but he hoped that she might and she was the right one, hoped that she wouldn't mind him interrupting her reading or perhaps even joining her, "Whatcha reading there?" he had a hint of a tone, curious but tentative not wanting to just jump right in in case she didn't want him to join her, but not quite willing to ask if he could.

ooc: i hope you don't mind me joining

Sabrina was enjoying her time at Hogwarts so far, the biggest draw for her had been that she would be reunited with her sister and all the opportunities for mischief that entailed. Messing with Sam was the highlight of her early childhood and when her sister began Hogwarts she was deprived of that, now finally they would be at the school together and in the same house no less, the possibilities were endless.

So far Sabrina hadn't had much chance to see Sam let alone mess with her, it seemed her older sister was taking a number of extra classes, Sabrina couldn't help but wonder if her extra workload was an excuse to avoid her, needless to say it had worked so far. With a rare quiet day upon them Sam decided to go out in search of Sam and she had a good idea where to find her. Sabrina made her way to the lake where she did indeed spot her sister, and the best part was she wasn't alone. "Got yourself a boyfriend Sam?" Sabrina asked as she approached the pair by the lake with a cheeky smirk on her face.

Sam was getting into her novel, a muggle one of course, and she almost could not believe what she was reading. Her thoughts about anything that could be wrong with the plot, maybe her brain just wanted to figure out who the murderer was already though she was only halfway through the book, were interrupted by a voice, and a male one at that. She sighed quietly to herself and looked up to see who could have possibly asked her what she was reading. But her gaze softened when she recognised the boy, someone from the year above she’d met in the library just last year. With a soft smile on her features, the girl replied. "Hi Simon, it’s been a while. Oh, just a muggle book, to pass the time. It’s called Case Histories." She glanced at the cover of her book once more before she closed it and placed it next to her so she could give Simon her full attention, now that she was in company. She didn’t want to be rude after all. "How was your break?" she asked politely, a little curious.

She was at least glad he remembered her name, though she wouldn’t blame him if he didn’t. They had only spoken a couple of times before, after all. Her conversation with the Ravenclaw however was short-lived, as someone else, a younger version of Sam - no, no, she reminded herself, Sabrina was nothing like her - approached the pair. She quickly glanced at Simon before she debated whether it was worth responding to her sister. Not wanting to be rude to her in front of her - friend? Acquaintance? - she forced a smile on her face. "No, Sabrina, he’s a friend. Did you need anything?" she asked, with a hint that suggested that if there was nothing Sabrina needed from Sam it was probably best if she left her older sister in peace.

Simon smiled at Sam as she seemed happy with him to sit down, so he did just that, looking at the cover of the book she was reading and nodding, "Wow, seems interesting, what's it about?" the boy asked curiously, he didn't read many books that were school related and perhaps that was a mistake on his part, school books were fun but maybe it was time to expand a little. He nodded at the question, "My break was fine, stayed here at school. Mostly just revised for the upcoming year and went for morning runs with my sister," he said plainly with a smile. The part-veela could admit that his holiday probably sounded pretty boring and no particularly good but he had really enjoyed it and Simon did easily enjoy things like it. It didn't matter if it wasn't too interesting or that it was maybe a little odd that neither he nor his sister had gone home for the break. "How was yours?" the boy returned with a friendly smile, perhaps she had had a more interesting break and they'd be able to talk more about that than they maybe could about what he said.
However, there wasn't any occasion for that when a younger girl, younger than both him or Sam appeared. She clearly know Sam, but Simon didn't know her at all. Maybe they were family, there was a family resemblance, maybe. That or it was just that they were both blonde. Not a good indicated but still a way for someone to maybe tell. "Yeah, I'm a friend, Simon," he smiled in a friendly manner to the younger girl standing up to hold his hand out to the younger girl, there was maybe something going on between the two girls but he would remain polite. he didn't know what their connection or problem was, but he'd spent enough time around Charlotte to know that sometimes he just needed to let the situation play out around him. Though it was clear Simon should stop spending time with girls because apart from with Charlotte it never seemed to go well for him.
